  • Brian Eslick from How to Automotive www.howtoautomotive.com takes you step-by-step through the process of replacing the blower motor and blower resistor on a 2007-2015 Scion xB. The blower fan only worked on high speed at first and then stopped working altogether. The blower was also vibrating before it stopped working.

0:18 dude.. i cant thank you enough for this video.. mine went out a couple days ago.. had to put freon in bc it was out, and a replacement motor.. i called around and got quotes ranging from a minimum of $130-$140 on the lower end to $200 before tax from auto part places... god only knows what a dealer wouldve charged me.. i used your link and got one for $60.02 after tax (virginia).. came in today and replaced it in about 15 mins at the most with some help from my old boss at his detailing shop and this thing blows like a teenager on prom night😂 2009 xb, and a full time instacart shopper, uber eats, doordash, and gopuff driver. Saved me a lot of money and grief.. 🎉THANK YOU🎉

Man I cannot believe three little tiny leaves inside the blower motor was making it so my air conditioning would just come to a very slow halt after a couple of minutes of running. Emptied it out and now it works like a charm.

Thanks for making this! Definitely earned a sub.
I’ve been hearing an annoying squeaky wheel type noise when my fan is on high. I imagine this motor is the culprit since I can’t hear the noise at all under the hood

Thank you your video was right to the point and well done! I appreciate it. TYC seems to be a better quality product and maybe Tiawan made instead of China.

What does the resistor do? Is that what switches from outside air to recirc only? That’s my issue. Everything works great I just can’t get recirc air going. The light even comes on on the recirc button. TIA!

I changed out my blower motor resistor on my 2012 XB and when I did this the airbag, TRAC Off, and check engine all came on after and I also lost a bit of voltage (from consistent 13.4 to 12.0) and none of this was showing before I changed out the old resistor. I was dealing with no air coming through to my AC and looked on your video. I noticed my resistor was fired or at least looked like it. BUt none of the other lights were on.

Thanks for the video. A word to the wise: Make sure you clean out your glove compartment. If it's full of paper it can get caught in the fan.
