Girl this happened to me too recently. Separated an arrangement from a funeral and most of the plants started turning. Water isn’t draining well along with some of the pots are too big. Would I know this without you? Nope!
Love watching the process. One of my favorite things to do is plant rescue! When the plant comes back and starts putting out new leaves it’s so satisfying!
thank you for this. i’ve kept a peace lily alive for a year, i got it at my fathers funeral and it’s starting to have some issues which was really depressing me. hoping i can do something to keep it healthy. i’ll be crushed if i can’t save it honestly.
My sister gave me a peace lily after my grandma and my 19 year old cat passed away. Plants give us something else to nurture when we lose loved ones. I hope you and your lily are doing well, I hope your grief eases soon. ❤️
She gives some really helpful tips on peace lillies. My cats ate up a lot of leaves and then it went through cycles of drought and lack of sunlight. I followed some tips from her videos and it’s growing back! My mom gave it to me 4 years ago, and it’s nice to see it coming back.
Hey I wanted to tell you for the longest time, you ended up on my for you page and then I Found You Again on UA-cam and I have never been a plant girl myself but I am starting to realize that I have all these hidden things about me that are starting to come back out and plants are one of them. Your videos are so entertaining and you have so much knowledge that you have taught me in such a little amount of time so much about the care for my plants. I'm still starting out with very easy ones, but my proudest plant is definitely Benny my basil plant he is thriving and humongous and it was all things to you and your plant knowledge. Please keep posting all the great videos. Sending love from Montana
@@PlantswithKrystal thanks to you too! Do u by any chance have any tips on what to do about orchids? Me and my mom have like 8 orchids and 4 are starting to lose their flowers. 2 or or three of em are browning at the stem and the flowers are wilting. There is no leaf rot nor am I watering in the crevices of the leaves. Some of the air roots are shriveling tho
I am currently quarantined at my parents house with full covid symptoms.. I can't stop thinking about my poor plants in my flat hoping everything is good there 🥺
AHHHH this is so well timed, ty for sharing. I've just been displaced from my housing and I'm trying desperately to keep my babies alive and today I realized the spot I temporarily put them has too much sun and so many of my best ones are black/brown and shriveled over the course of like, two days 😫 anyway thanks for sharing I feel less alone now lmao
So helpful! I came back and one of my plant babies had root rot. Sigh. I need to go back in and treat it like you did your peace lily! Thank you for the instructions!
I get that from mine too. So the weird thing is it will dry out extremely quickly but then also gets very yellow leaves. Oh I'm looking at it now and that's how it looks. I think I'm going to replant it. I'm going to try doing what you did.
Me today. I forgot I watered my orchids and to go back and check for standing water. Reported immediately. Few weeks later rotting again. Guess I didn't get it all. Trying a last ditch attempt to save her with no roots and only 2 good leaves. She was one of my favorites too and was growing so well prior:(
I got 2 from relatives' funerals. And had 1 of them for almost 18 years. Once I got the second one. Had it for 6 months. And the both got real bad. Had to pretty much chop them. And hope for the best. And I got Steams and leaves growing on both plants. So happy! I wish I had before pictures.
Recently, I investigated one of my two Christmas cactus that live on the porch for several months because it was not showing progess. I pulled off two fat, black caterpillars.😱 Love butterflies, but their babies need a better place to live. 😅
I love your vidios so much,i have many plants i loveee plants and your tips and videos are so helpful, i just love how you talk 😊 Bdw a im from Bosnien so my english is very bad ❤
literally had that yesterday. had to rip them apart and with half of the baby i had to chop off the roots completely bc it was already black inside the stems. Put them in water hoping to get some new roots. Could save the other half tho, shes happily chilling in her pot :)))
They must use mesh for commercial growing. I recently adopted a poor peace lily and it had mesh pieces high up near the crown when I repotted. She’s safe and cozy now though ❤
One of my neightbors actually threw a mostly dead peace lily in the garbage, pot and all. My daughter brought it in to see if I could rescue it, and while I haven't been able to afford a better pot with proper drainage for it, I've managed to save it anyway. His name is Lazarus
I'm literally in the middle of transferring one of my pothos to water because she seems to hate the dirt life. There was mesh around her roots, and she was starting to get root rot, so I'm happy I did it!
Hi Krystal! What should I do if my indoor plants have gotten a lot of fungus flies? Please, it would help me out a lot if I could learn a bit more about it. I learn so much from you btw! ❤
@PlantswithKrystal Krystal!! I love your videos! You give me the courage to try to have orchards again! 😅 where do I find the tool you use to loosen the soil from roots in this video?? Thank you ❤
I've had a few plants just suddenly decline and then I find that accursed mesh on their roots. It's why I repot straight away now and don't even bother with acclimating them.
My plants have trouble drying out properly unless I have a small fan running somewhere in their vicinity at all times. It really really helps! If you have issues with the same thing give it a try!
I recently came back from holiday to 15 destroyed plants because the ppl looking after it apparently didn't bother 😅 no apologies either. I managed to save most, including my brugmansia I inherited from my late Stepmom
My peace lily is all dramatic and tells me when it’s thirsty. Its fine one day and the next day it’s super droopy. And that’s when I’ll water. And she perks right back up.
Omg thanks for the info. I bought it yesterday and it seems so healthy and fresh but today all the leafs are drooping . I felt so sad. I put it near the window. Is it a problem or what cause it? You know that?
I kid you not when I say that I just finished repotting my own peace lily that was suffering from root rot. Poor thing, I also had to downsize I’m so sad!
I NEED HELP. My partner gave my Zebra Agave too much water and some root rot. The whole thing fell apart, leaves and all. But I cut off as much of the rotting part as I could alto the point where the flesh isn’t sticky anymore, and I’m not sure what to do now. My original plan was to disinfect the little leaves with hydrogen peroxide and then let them dry out for a few days before repotting them in new soli. However I’m not sure if this is the best method to save this plant or even if I can, it’s just that my mom gave it to me a few years ago and I love it to death. I still have some of the leave’s without having cut off the rotten part if that’s a possibility for saving it.
this just happened to me after a weekend away for my anniversary 😩😭 my poor baby monstera just finally got a new baby on it and she’s suddenly showing signs of root rot. i just had to cut almost all her roots off. i just ordered a new pole for it too!!! 😭😭😭
I don't know if I missed a vid somewhere but any advice on transplanting a pitcher plant?? I'm so scared of hurting my beautiful babys!! (And other insectivorous/carnivorous plants in general)
If you don’t mind me asking where do you get those pots? I think I’m having a similar issue with my Freddie Calathea. Every since I repotted the plant into a bigger pot I’ve been having so many issues. Your videos made me realize that the pot I put the plant in may be too big. 😔
Just came back from vacation as well… and it’s all bad! Hoyas overwatered, Thai Constellation with severe root rot, LECA plants were taken out of the cache pot of water… 😬 😢
I had bought a peace lily that needed to be reported due to root bound. I repotted it and the plant started turning yellow dropping and so I cut away and looked at roots and it was root rotting. So I cut bad roots let it dry added some neem oil for the roots and let it dry over night and repotted it and now it’s dropping more then ever. I’m starting to hate peace lilies as much as they hate me.
When one of my little catmint seedlings started showing symptoms of root rot, I became so scared, but just repotting it into a different pot manage to save the seedling, and now it is my biggest one, 15 cm tall already, And already showing signs of defiance. It's siblings need to catch up
I have a monkey leaf which is the latest plant I’ve added to my collection and wow I’ve never had more trouble with a plant! The leaves are constantly yellowing! I try putting it in the sun, it’s sad. I take it out of the sun, it’s sad. I water, it’s sad. I don’t water as much, it’s sad. I accidentally gave it plant food, leaves went black, won’t do that again haha. My next test is bigger pot but I wouldn’t say it’s filling this current one out as much as I’d thought it would need to before complaining about lack of space. Any tips or similar experiences would be greatly appreciated, maybe we can figure this out together 😅
I assume the reason people overwater peace lilies is because they have these big leaves and people think they gobble up a lot of water ... I also had to learn the hard way that unless they tell me they ARE in fact thirsty by allowing their leaves to droop, they do not need to be watered 🤷🏻♀️
help! I bought indoor potting soil and added some perlite to it to help my plants drain. I keep my plants in the window where they mostly get sun (based on my apartment the sun doesn’t really hit the window well). I’ve noticed that all my plants get white mold on the top layer of soil after watering (i do the drown that hoe and wait till it’s parched technique) - I partly blame the soil mix but I’m really not sure how to fix this issue! how do I stop mold??

“It hurts when it’s your own” facts 💯
“PORQUE!!!?!??” I love it! I definitely felt that…. Ughh root rot…idk what’s worse….I know that could trigger some comments lol 😂😂😂
Root rot sucks! But it’s salvageable if you get it in time.
that’s what made me laugh so hard 😂
It feels comforting that even someone as experienced as yourself has plants struggle sometimes!
There is no perfect plant parent and showing the good and the bad, is part of learning. I love it.

If the lily is having a hard time, put it in glass so you can keep an eye on her roots.
If you are an overwaterer or don’t have enough sun and the substrate dries slowlier, try ceramic pots!
