Oh my goodness, when Pablo came trotting in with his toy, I laughed out loud for real. How adorable was that! "Mom! Mom! I have the toy! Is play time!"
I appreciate you mentioning that if you keep your plants clean and healthy you should have less pests. So many UA-camrs scare me with their pest horror stories, so it's good to hear that although it can happen it doesn't have to be catastrophic. I love plants but I don't need more stress in my life.
Today has been such a hard day. My Dad passed away after a 12yr. battle with cancer on 9-20-23. About a year before he passed he had given me a cutting from his fig tree in the back yard. It was thriving & beautiful and then we had a hard freeze that it just couldnt take. Just like with my Dad I had done everything possible to ensure it's survival... but it still did not make it. It is literally the only plant I have ever fought for and nourished to the best of my abilities and lost. God can be funny like that I guess. Now I love each and every one of my plants differently though. I just focus on enjoying them. I spend time admiring them with a heart full of gratitude because I am getting to love them at all. No matter if they make it or not. So tonight I am up and sleepless, missing someone I still love so dearly. However, knowing that you have had loss and probably have a similar relationship with your plant friends makes me feel not so alone. I cannot thank you enough for just being on this platform. Sending lots of love, hugs, and prayers sis. ❤-TX
Krystal, is this the same plant you eventually placed outside in one of your later videos & you mentioned that the sun changed the leaves to like a very light purplish/pinkish color? If it helps you made like a cute cactus 🌵 trellis to support the plant?😂 No worries gonna pull up the old TikTok. But if it’s, then I want to purchase one from the same manufacturer you mentioned because I was truly impressed with their packaging!! Love ya Chica!👩🏻🌾🏝️
Awwww... a new plant baby!!😍😍😍 Love these longer videos! You are so wonderful to watch! Your calm voice and how you talk to your plants, so awesome! Love it! Sending you some southern california sunshine! 🌞😎Spring is on the way! 🌷😃🌷
13:50 fun fact always try to look for leaf cleaners with camphor or peppermint because camphor is know to repel thrips from the strong scent. camphor is found in peppermint thats why its so popular to use as a cleaner
I always am so excited to see when you post another planty video!! You are such a delight to watch! Makes me think how I'd love to be friends with you!! Thank you for all your videos, the information you share and for being you!!
You are absolutely not alone in sniffing your plants! It's a lifelong habit I have to sniff everything before using or buying it; I can't even pour a drink into a cup without smelling the cup first 😅
People have come to believe I have a green thumb because of you so thank you for the lessons. If I may, I think a dope short series on dollar general finds would be dope. I'll be here regardless 😊
I'm so happy you're making videos now. I've be following you for years and one of the reasons I began to love plants. Thank you for being unapologetically you. And can't WAIT to see more and your journey ❤
Thank you Krystal! You're always so calm and kind in your videos. Even when you get a little crazy, there is an inner calmness that is very soothing. Love this video, as I struggle very much with leaving new plants be. I had an mpromptu repotting till two in the morning today. I was being very good at not fussing over the new plant, until I saw a mushy aerial root in the soil. In my sleepy state, I made some mistakes and had to repot twice. When I went to bed there was still soil and mud everywhere.😅
Thank you for your simple and informative presentation of the plants You're explaining at the time. You and your assistant are very enjoyable Thank you for making it simple.
If you use citrus castile soap it works as a gentle pesticide. I used it to treat a spider mite infestation while everything was shut down. I couldn’t get insecticidal soap but we always keep a variety of castile soaps. It worked great and my majesty palm is still here and still pest-free. I need to stock up this weekend. The orchid show is next weekend and I want an army of dwarf orchids.
I'm so glad it's not just me that has help in that way. My cat feels he should be a part of everything hehe I cant remember what cutting I bought but the seller added a free leaf cutting of that hoya. I must admit I was not over impressed. Stuffed it in my Prop box and left it. Nothing happened. Needed room in the Prop box so pulled it out stuffed it in a pot and forgot about it. Then noticed a couple of new leaves. It's grown so well and it's now one of my favourite plants. I look at it every day. Its so stunning. I do smell my philodendron as I love the smell of them. Great video hope it does well Have fun
I am the same I do not play when it comes to bugs. I don't rush home and repot I come home see whats going on under the hood lol then I treat every new plant with Captain Jack Dead Bug brew and the new guy lives in a day spa bathroom for a month. I'd rather do this EVERY time then to play"Let's save the Villagers from Godzilla!" and have to spend sooooooooooooooooooooooo much time and money on trying to save the other townfolk in my collection. I don't need the stress. Plants are my happy not a Marvel comic needing heroic big budget scenes.
I gotten some by mail from plant decor shop. I had 2 died, and they refunded me. I think they’re good. If you order during winter, they come with a warm pack and tightly wrapped. I especially shopped there for the pandemic.
I seen a UA-cam short that had a young lady who used lemon and water to clean her plants leaves. I really like how you explain what your doing with your plants.. super pleasant to watch! I’m going to subscribe 😊
I commend your efforts to avoid pests coming in on new plants. Most of my experience has been the pests coming in through my windows and finding my plants! I'm currently battling several thrip situations 💀
Ugh I adore your channel SOOOO much! I'm on year 2 with my very first flower and succulent garden! You have literally kept me sane and informed with my all my babys' health ❤
Really love Krystal ❤️ and love seeing UA-cam videos! So used to following on insta. It's been lovely to see her journey and growth on the platforms. It's like chilling with your best friend and forgetting about all the crazy highs and lows life brings ...with some good planty advice along the way 😊 Wishing you nothing but the best Krystal you deserve it lovely❤ 🎉
Christal I love your videos and have learn a lot about house plants that I did not know. I’m not so frighten about those white bugs etc. anymore I just put on some disposable gloves. I have about 25 house plants so far and the larger the better but don’t have the room for those at the moment. ❤
Not a Hoya person but enjoyed the calmness with which you spoke and explained your process for bringing in a newbie 🫡 Pablo was adorable too racing in with his toy as well as sniffing every part of your plant package🤩
❤KRYSTAL❤ just messaged on another comment and video. But if you're to grossed out on feeding live insects to the VFT. Grind up dried meal worms (can mix fish flakes) when ready to feed grab some and add water almost like a paste or applesauce consistency. With a toothpick with some food on it. trigger the plant and when it closes, carefully massage the leaf so it triggers again and completely shuts close and statst the digesting process. I feed my serrancia, pings, VFT and sundews like that. Just make sure the food doesmt fall into the soil. I did so much reasearch cause i couldn't feed them live insects.
It so important to see what the soil the plants come in... Generally, the few i bought, i do find the online orders have the right soil type. The other day, i stopped myself from getting a cuddle cactus from trader Joe's because it was sitting in coco coir 😰😤... All of them were soaked. I didn't rescue any of them because I had a hard time dealing with cactus death 😅... They make me feel really guilty if they die. PSA: if you are thinking about a cuddle cacus from trader Joe's, please make sure to take them out of that coco coir and transplant them into cactus soil mix. People have been saying the plants die after a few weeks.
Hi loooove it. I'm more of a succulent person bc of space and easy care but today I got an adansonii n I ❤ it. I also saw an obliqua for the first time today it was tiny n expensive but I never thought I would see it in person I was like a kid in a sweet/toy shop that my partner carried on walking pretending not to know me lol. Yr tips help me immensely so ty 😊
Pablo! Hi 🐶, and thanks Krystal for posting as I am waiting for my plant water to get to room temperature so can water my alocasia before work starts 😉.
Krystal! New follower here, such a fan of your shorts. I recently inherited a angel wings cane begonia that was outdoors, but noticed the soil in the pot was straight up MUD. Like boggy af. I carefully removed it and washed its roots and potted it up in a mix similar to what u use. Fingers crossed!!
That was an interesting video. I put my new plants in quarantaine too. So far, it is possible in a small apartment. I like the big Monstera and the decoration in your house. Pablo is cute, too. ❣️🪴
Love watching your videos. Could you do a video showing everything you use for pest control. Or a list. I'm trying to use less chemicals since I got kiddos and dogs. Appreciate everything you post
Thanks for your video it was really good. I love your dog so cute they are just so much fun. I typically just use water to wipe my leaves off after watering. I have been a little leery to put anything on them.
I actually got a philodendron ring of fire for $5 on clearance at Walmart! She needed help, but she is going! I love your videos they got me back into keeping plants again after I had a lot of mental and physical health issues that I killed off my all the last plants I had except for my snow white (snow queen?) pothos. I'm curious what is your suggestion if you buy a plant from a big box store and its root bound I typically will completely repot them then and there to not cause further issues on their growth. in your experience would you recommend going ahead and repotting them when you first bring them home or let them adjust then repot?
I love that leaf spray but its EXPENSIVE! Lasts a good long time though and makes your leaves so shiny and supposedly doesn't block the light or leave a residue.
It's always a good day when Krystal posts
Yay!!! You’re so kind! Thank you for being here!
Agreed!
You know it's night here 😅....feeling so weird while reading your comment

QUESTION, could you rate affordable grow lights? I bought one on Amazon and can’t tell a difference. Plants don’t bend towards it. Thanks!
Thank you for all the tips! Sorry if i missed it, but how long do you leave your new plants quarantined?
I can imagine a rock garden outside with a small pond and some of the plants living outside.
Same that'd look amazing

Your castile soap mixture is the same ratio for hummingbird feeders 4 cups water and 1 cup sugar with no red dye ( it harms the birds).
Buenos Diaz Krystal, I need a Hoya in my life! Thanks for the tips, give Paulo a scratch from me🤗
I love your videos are always so helpful thank you so much

Thanks very informative 😊
I love your channel. You alwyas have such great information! ❤
I always watch your videos you’re amazing with plants.
I actually got a philodendron ring of fire for $5 on clearance at Walmart! She needed help, but she is going! Cut off the rot on top, drained her out really well, and then waited to see what was happening before checking roots. She has. 1 torn up leaf, but she's going!
I've been doing my best to not mess with the soil. I did get a new fiddle leaf for myself for Valentine's Day and decided to bottom water. Centipedes! I almost threw her outside! She got down potted because of what I had available, but I don't want those in my house! She just about to pop a new leaf, so I think she's good
Hello I loved your channel about cactus... thank you sizt
I truly love your videos you truly lift my day
Thank you so much! That truly means so much!
I smell my plants too, especially if I’m pruning! I be huffing sap like it’s glue 😅 mango plants smell the best, like (funnily enough) mangoes
11:13 your hair is GORGEOUS btw!
Yes 🙌🏽😂 the sniffer never steers us wrong and thank you so much!!!
I like your video end plants
Get the growth elixir from them it’s so good!!!!! 100% recommend!!!!
I love you Krystal!❤
Thanks for sharing
I’ve learned if I buy from a box store, dump it out of its pot and check the roots, I often find plugs of death. I bought a figgy vine that I didn’t repot/check and it was NOT doing well at all, it was awful. Finally had time to do the deed, 1/3 of the pot had heavy silt in the bottom. SILT! MUD!! Not any kind of potting soil anywhere should be using. Once I fixed that, what was left stabilized and is doing great. I’ve found plants that have the tiniest hair roots and nothing that would ever last if not attended to quickly. Needed some good soil, rooting hormone and TLC. Some of the crap out there is so awful.
New here and new to the plant mom world ( my mom has had them forever) but I found you on Facebook and came searching!!!❤
Yay!!!! So happy you’re here!!! 🫶🏽
I've also been looking for a Caudata Sumatra! Sooo pretty!
I love that leaf spray but its EXPENSIVE! Lasts a good long time though and makes your leaves so shiny and supposedly doesn't block the light or leave a residue.
Yay! Happy to hear you've had good experiences with them as well. I'll keep trying it out.
Yep I’m a sniffer too.. we put in 2 perennials yesterday, Coral Bells, and I swear they smelled like watermelon!🍉🍉🍉
I love that! Those sound like great ones to have in the garden!
@@PlantswithKrystal yes I love them. They’re tough and they come back every year with very little upkeep!
