The list in the video: 2:54 - The Great Dictator (1940) 5:07 - Taxi Driver (1976) 7:35 - The Lion King (1994) 9:06 - Halloween (1978) 11:39 - Django Unchained (2012) 13:58 - Schindler's List (1993) 16:00 - One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) 17:44 - The Dark Knight (2008) 21:05 - Goodfellas (1990) 22:32 - Jaws (1975)
Not a pooular thing to say, huh? Well, I thank God I was outta secondary schooling when it started to become more popular to assign watching Schindler's List than it was to assign reading novels by Samuel Longhorn Clemons, perhaps especially "Huck Finn."
*The Lion King did not kick off the Disney Renaissance. That honour actually goes to The Little Mermaid in 1989, followed by Beauty and the Beast in 1991, Aladdin in 1992, and then The Lion King in 1994.

Ha!! Man, Mr. David Brown...you and I have very, VERY similar taste! TONS of your "top 20" would exist in mine too!! And, yes...I too would suggest that The Godfather Part II would be my favourite film of all time. I've got some that didn't make your list though...They are: Oldboy (original 2003, fKorean version of course) Alien (1979)...brilliant. I must've watched this film oh ...like 15 times or so at least. I love it. I love all the characters and the story and the setting....it's all utterly BRILLIANT!!! Fargo (1996) The Good, The Bad and the Ugly (1966) Suspiria (1977) The Sting (1973) And while they're far, FAR removed from being "great" (or even, "good") films, I really love the atmospheres of a few 1980's horror films, including "A Nightmare on Elm Street" (parts 1 and 3) and Friday the 13th's (part 1, part 2, part 3 and part 4 (the Final Chapter) and of course, the original, "Halloween" (1978) and "Halloween part III: Season of the Witch" from 1982 - I LOVE these early '80's "slasher" films because as children, my brother and I weren't allowed to watch them as they were (according to my parents) too scary and too violent...too sexy...etc. etc.....we WERE however, allowed to watch them over the period here in Windsor, Ontario/Detroit area that was known as, "Shocktober"! This was a period during the mid-to-late 1980's that coming up to Oct. 31, Count Scary (a horror host from Detroit) would introduce these films and interject comedy into the (going-into-a-commercial) bits....We were allowed to watch these version of those R-Rated films, as they were edited for television which apparently made my parents feel OK letting my brother and I watch these films... Other films that nearly makes my "best of all time" list would be "Donnie Brasco", "The Rocky Horror Picture Show", "Forbidden Planet", ...oh man...certainly there are others I'm forgetting....

zak x aria I think older movies should be taken with a grain of salt because the times have changed. Things that weren’t considered offensive then may be offensive now. I don’t personally see how Raiders of the Lost Ark is racist, but I can understand why people would think Temple of Doom is. I praise movies on filmmaking qualities alone, and Raiders is a cinematic masterpiece, in my opinion. It’s a movie where I can sit back and wonder how certain scenes were accomplished, like the boulder scene, the plane fight, and the incredible truck convoy action scene after the plane fight. I appreciate the beautiful cinematography, the purposefully campy acting, and stellar special effects (for the time). I don’t let modern politics get in the way of me enjoying a film unless the film’s message is racist or completely lacking in taste.
Jay Horror Expert My favorite scene from the Exorcist is either the scene of possessed Regan staring blankly at Father Merrin’s corpse (it never fails to unsettle me) or the scene in the beginning when Father Merrin is looking at the statue of the demon. It’s like a standoff in a western, but the music is extremely unsettling. It’s full of foreboding tension.
Since I'm one of those who wished for a top-ten of all time list, I THANK YOU! An eclectic mix; in some ways deeper than I'd expected, but mostly just what I expected. Awesome!
I LOVE JACKIE BROWN! I LOVE PAM GRIER ANYWAY, BUT THAT MOVIE WAS FILMED IN TORRANCE, WHERE I USED TO LIVE (1984 TO 1990), AND, AT DEL AMO MALL, WHERE I USED TO WORK FOR COUPLE WEEKS (1980, WHEN IN CALIFORNIA) FOR SECOND TIME, FOR A MONTH (FIRST TIME WAS 1979 FOR ONE MONTH), BUT I LIVED ONLY LESS THAN 2 MILES AWAY, FROM DEL MAO MALL AND VISITED A LOT. OTHER MOVIES HAVE BEEN FILMED THERE, LIKE "VALLEY GIRL" WITH CAGE. I HAVE SEEN JACKIE BROWN MANY TIMES, I HAVE THE DVD AND THE BLURAY. EVEN WHEN ON TV, I HAVE TO STOP AND WATCH! EXCELLENT MOVIE. I AGREE, IT IS A FAVORITE. HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Ben-Hur Honorable Mentions: - Seven Samurai - Inglourious Basterds - L.A. Confidential - M - Get Out
Who is anyone to criticize someone's choices ? Well, what the heck I'll be that fool. Maybe you haven't spent an unhealthy amount of time watching a million films like myself but I would challenge that you can think of films better than Deer Hunter, A Clockwork Orange, Inglorious Bastards, and Falling Down. Your list reveals a disturbing pattern. Mostly films featuring shocking, depraved, mindless violence. Do you enjoy watching people suffer?>Perhaps you have a lot of evil thoughts in your mind. Deer Hunter doesn't hold up to rewatching very well and it even has some bad acting by Meryll Streep and several other cast members. The plot drags on way too long and it's a bit on the boring side. A clockwork Orange left a huge impression on many people but only for its graphic depictions of a demonic and sadistic fantasy. Clock Orange lacks basic structure, has no real storyline or even a coherent theme , and has weak and unrelatable characters that have no development. A child should probably never lay eyes on it. Falling Down isn't too bad but it has a predictable ending that only disappoints when it finally arrives and the plot is rather simpleton. Inglorious Basterds was shot well and has great effects, costumes, directing and acting. But it suffers from Tarantino's insistence on uncalled-for longwinded boring dialogue. The film is a good one and has a fabulous twist at the end but I can't see it even cracking the top 100 for me. Get out would have been a great movie. But there is a somewhat offensive underlying anti-white racist mindset that bubbles to the surface from the mind of writer Jordan Peele. Peele is a Mulatto. These Oreo people like Colin Kaepernick and Jordan Peel often feel pressured to prove their "blackness" so they demonize white people to prove they are not white(even though they are) since they perceive that the vast public has disdain for white men and black men are cool while whites are dorky and lame.( A childish and unfounded delusion)The film suggests that white men secretly want to be black so they can be trendy and cool. This is what peel thinks rich old white guys are thinking and I take it as offensive since it implies a belief that blacks are cooler than whites . Maybe Peele is afraid people will find out that he was raised by an all white family and his Black Dad wasn't around so much so he goes hard on the "White People Are Devils" theme just like Colin Kaepernick. These greatest fear of these 2 mulatto men is being called a white man. Pathetic. Seven Samurai is 1 million times better than Clockwork Orange. Just so you know I have Fight Club & E.T. in my top 10 as well. All these on your list are all good films. Just not top 10 caliber. ..........Consider it. 🧠

Nice picks for sure bro ! Somewhere I was hoping you'd say Heat ....it be mine, I understand if it's not yours. All star cast such as Pacino ,Robert De niro , Val Kilmer ,Ashley Judd ,.....and many more...it also had one of the best shoot outs ever out in the street.

Hi Jeff, just subscribed. Do you ever wonder if you've been reincarnated from someone born in the 60's? I really enjoyed this video and your passion and enthusiasm for these older movies. I was 13 yrs old when I saw Jaws in the theatre in 1975 for the first time. Let me tell you....when that severed head came out of that gaping hole in the hull of the boat, everyone, and I mean almost everyone jumped up out of their seat. I would definitely rank Jaws in my top 10 all time, along with Die Hard, Alien, Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Predator, Terminator, Big Lebowski, Plains Trains and Automobiles, Halloween, The Thing, Exorcist, Poltergeist, Manhunter, The Green Mile, Rocky, and a plethora of Quentin Tarantino movies.

I like your list and agree most of the arguments too. For me personally, Lord of the Rings has to be on the list too, because it is the best book adaptation ever dreamed to screen, also the dedication of the director, the actors and all that took part in it is just outstanding. Matrix also has a place on the list because of the groundbraking new camera work they invented for the action genre, because of the great actors and of course the story that starts the minds of everyone going who watched the movie.

BOSS HOGG I saw The Fly when I was 9-10. No other horror film has traumatized me to that extent. I was afraid to eat donuts and ice cream for a couple weeks. It took me five years before I could sit down and watch it in full again.
@@jalenjohnson1662 i saw Jaws when i saw 7, i was traumatized from taking long showers or swimming at night for a few months. A really credible top 10 list. Great Dictator is a underrated film - it was also a brave one to make - you need to Rembrandt that Chaplin was a British citizen and the UK (and its Commonwealth partners) had been fighting Nazi pretty much on its own and Great Dictator was designed to influence USA to get involved.

*The Lion King did not kick off the Disney Renaissance. That honour actually goes to The Little Mermaid in 1989, followed by Beauty and the Beast in 1991, Aladdin in 1992, and then The Lion King in 1994.

2. The Godfather (1972)
1. The Godfather, Part II (1974)
Ha!! Man, Mr. David Brown...you and I have very, VERY similar taste! TONS of your "top 20" would exist in mine too!! And, yes...I too would suggest that The Godfather Part II would be my favourite film of all time. I've got some that didn't make your list though...They are:
Oldboy (original 2003, fKorean version of course)
Alien (1979)...brilliant. I must've watched this film oh ...like 15 times or so at least. I love it. I love all the characters and the story and the setting....it's all utterly BRILLIANT!!!
Fargo (1996)
The Good, The Bad and the Ugly (1966)
Suspiria (1977)
The Sting (1973)
And while they're far, FAR removed from being "great" (or even, "good") films, I really love the atmospheres of a few 1980's horror films, including "A Nightmare on Elm Street" (parts 1 and 3) and Friday the 13th's (part 1, part 2, part 3 and part 4 (the Final Chapter) and of course, the original, "Halloween" (1978) and "Halloween part III: Season of the Witch" from 1982 - I LOVE these early '80's "slasher" films because as children, my brother and I weren't allowed to watch them as they were (according to my parents) too scary and too violent...too sexy...etc. etc.....we WERE however, allowed to watch them over the period here in Windsor, Ontario/Detroit area that was known as, "Shocktober"!
Other films that nearly makes my "best of all time" list would be "Donnie Brasco", "The Rocky Horror Picture Show", "Forbidden Planet", ...oh man...certainly there are others I'm forgetting....
nice list!

😍 my list is very similar , love it
Although indina jones movies j never loved them i always thought they were okey and racist
zak x aria I think older movies should be taken with a grain of salt because the times have changed.
@@papaslider6079 well said
Since I'm one of those who wished for a top-ten of all time list, I THANK YOU! An eclectic mix; in some ways deeper than I'd expected, but mostly just what I expected. Awesome!
Love Django, but most of the praise you give it should go to True Grit, which revived the genre two years before that.
Yeah I feel like that movie went under the radar, nobody seems to know about the film.
Jackie Brown is actually my favorite Tarantino film! shame no one ever talks about it hahah
It is the best Tarantino film I agree
thats my 2nd favorite my first is inglorious basterds
I really liked Desperado I know its not a Tarantino movie but he did have a cameo and it is made in same action comedy style.
It’s really great!

Do you like the hateful eight? I love that one.

The Fly still remains to be the scariest movie I’ve ever seen.
@@jalenjohnson1662 it's up there man the fly was the first horror movie i saw l at 5 years old, I've been hooked into the horror genre ever since but sadly the haven't made any horror movies that scare me in the past 20 years the fly, Jaws, werewolf in London, nightmare on elm st, the thing (with kurt Russell), body parts (1991) that some good shit right there!
A nightmare on elm st 3 put me off from eating pizza with sausage for a while.
Ironically those are still some of my favorite horror movie and some of the best ever made. Back in the day directors of horror movies wanted to scare everybody, nowadays they try to scare kids they try to scare teenagers and that's about it.
