2001 and The Shining look so good because Kubrick's personal assistant Leon Vitali is involved. Mr.. Vitali worked with Kubrick for decades and knows better than anyone alive how the films are supposed to look. He also is nearly as exacting as Kubrick.

What you were saying, about the whole porting bluray tranfers over to 4k, reminds me of the crap that happened when the remastering of music trend really started to kick in. I don't agree that the regular Blu of Gremlins is better. The 4k wins by a million miles in my eyes. It's a really old movie too and they've done a great job upgrading it.
Lots of controversy here! I knew I’d ruffle some feathers with this one. I appreciate all the positive comments and criticisms. I think that’s what makes this community great. As I’ve said before, do your research, read and watch multiple reviews, and ultimately you have to make a decision - these are just my opinions on what I’m seeing and you may see things differently!
The only reason i picked up the T2 4k was it was dirt cheap at $7.50. The only other copy I have of it is on VHS lol is the 2015 one still easy to find?
@@Gmen2010champs depends. Just make sure they don't send you the 2006, 2009 or 2017 discs by mistake. It tends to cost a few dollars more than the 2009 disc (most common one). It has the same transfer but no DNR, which is why it's superior. The 2015 disc is missing a commentary from the Skynet Edition, but according to the blu-ray.com forums it is on the Canadian steelbook edition from Mondo. In fact, it is on the regular Canadian edition as well. Its no big deal though, but if you have to have all the commentaries on BD then you'll want it. Here is a thread about it if you want to read: forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=262411 Worth noting is the 3D Blu-ray of T2. I haven't seen it, since I don't have a 3D TV, but the reviews I've read say it's good inspite of its DNR use.

@@Gmen2010champs I didn't know about Korea, but there is a Region B release from Studio Canal in the UK as well as a steelbook from Zaavi, also Region B, UK. I missed it in the theaters, so would love to see it also. If it's that good, I'd say get a region free 3D BD player.
Gremlins was definitely from a new master and looks way better than the Blu-ray. Tons more fine detail and way better grain rendering. The HDR is a bit too teal like most, but it's definitely better than the Blu-ray in every other way.
Thank you for posting this video. I’m new to 4 k releases and have a lot of blu rays and this video makes me cautious about buying some new releases. I hate the corporate greed and them selling us lesser versions of movies we love. Us, movie lovers need channels like this.
If 4K Blu-ray was all about "corporate greed", then 4K discs would no longer be available. 4K Blu-ray doesn't generate much revenue, for the studios. I'm very thankful physical media is still an option. Besides, the studios have already been paid for ALL their discs ordered by retailers (from their distributors). Even if a disc doesn't sell, the studio has already been paid. It's the retailer that takes the loss.
Terminator 2 looks great despite the revisionism. I still have the 2006 Blu-ray with the grain and original stunt double bike scene. I agree that Last Jedi in 4K HDR looks underwhelming. Rise and Force Awakens have better contrast. Aladdin 4K looks amazing. I really don’t mind revisionist color grading. Excellent release just like Beauty and the Beast.
I agree with you on the terrible T2 4K ,as I find it a step back from the blu ray as the picture is terrible and the sound actually drops out in a few places, and my setup while not top of the line is rather good as I did pay over 3 k for the whole thing! Now I read somewhere there is a proper 4K that Cameron did but who knows when he'll get around to setting it up and releasing it as he's knee deep in Avatar muck!
I love the content! Kudos to you for telling it like it is. However the super -distracting thing is that while the blu-rays behind you are supposedly in alphabetical order they respect the first letter but then it goes to crap. Was that intentional?
Thanks for the tips. I agree especially for animated movies. Disney and Pixar should invest in the conversion but it seems they do not want to pump money into it. They could easily (but would cost a lot!) re render these into 4K resolution.
Subbed, really enjoyed watching your videos the last few days. i collected over 1k VHS then onto DVD then Blu ray but sold my collection about 6 years ago. Just grabbed a new 4k tv and player and have just purchased interstellar as my first 4k watch! thanks for the great videos
Mostly agree with your excellent review. The controversial "Gremlins" issue... Even if it's not the best and I feel there's still room for improvement, it's still the better version we will get and an impressive 'quantum leap' over the old and almost mediocre Blu-Ray.
I just watched his full review on Gremlins and he says "I love the HDR in this movie, they did a great job" Then you watch this video and he says the HDR is bad and they did a bad job...I'm a bit confused. I'm just going to buy Gremlins, it's on sale for 10 bucks right now. EDIT I got it: Well worth 10 bucks! The HDR and everything looks great in the movie! Very happy!
@@dodsy2781 It’s especially kind of a non-point if you don’t already own it and just want the film. I’d only be annoyed if I was specifically rebuying it for the HDR.
@@dodsy2781 if that's the case, I know he's mentioned in several reviews that the companies send him free copies. I wonder if he was sent gremlins or not. And if he was, that just tells you his reviews are biased when he is sent stuff from companies. Maybe afraid of burning bridges. Hopefully not the case but I don't know how else I'd interpret that.
Hello Jeff, I’m new to 4K and I am so very grateful for all of your reviews. They save me from buying awful updates to compliment my current blu ray collection. I nearly bought T2 then checked this out. I have It’s a Wonderful Life in 4K now and it is excellent, as you said. I intend to keep building my library over time. As you rightly say, when studios make the effort, then so will I, to invest in a product that they spend time on with my hard earned cash. Thank you for all of the advice and please keep it coming 😁
Completely disagree with the Aladdin transfer. It definitely is an upgrade over the blu ray. T2 was also a decent upgrade over the bluray. The skynet edition and all other previous editions were plagued with banding issues. This one was a clean and sharp transfer. I own the European 4k transfer for T2 and the 3d as well.
Happy New Year Jeff! I gotta say if there's an Atmos track I'm going to prefer it over the Blu-Ray; my eyes aren't as good as they used to be but a kick ass soundstage makes the movie immersive!
I like to collect steelbooks so I bought the Gremlins, Alladin, and Star Wars but for cheap. Best Buy had a good sale going on for their steelbooks as low as $9.99.
@@astrosjer822 What ? Sure, they do. I have yet to find a Best Buy location that doesn't sell physical media. Whenever I check BB store availability for new Blu-ray releases, EVERY location has them. So, I'm not sure why you say otherwise.

Completely disagree with you on gremlins. It looks fantastic and is a major improvement over the so so blu ray. grain and colors are great and looks much more filmic then the blu ray.
Indeed. For a re-release of an 80s film i was surprised how warm and sweet the colours and the grain looked like and i'm glad they didn't make it look like a modern day film but leaving the films soul as it is and as it should be.
@@shaolin95 well it may surprise you but you can actually restore it the best possible way and still keeping it authentic without any grading revisionism.

Hey Jeff, just joined your channel. Thanks for all the cool infos on 4Ks. I love movies, i have a roughly 400 blu-ray collection and i've wanted to "step-up" to 4K, for most of my favorite movies. I don't have a 4K player yet but i'll be buying the next PS5 when it releases at the end of the year and since it includes a 4K player, i thought i should start collecting those 4Ks right now. I've watched a few of your videos and they're a great help to "get started"... So, thanks again ! ;-)
Disney has been putting out more and more crap lately. It's changed dramatically from the company that it used to be. I stopped supporting Disney completely.
Dont get me started on their current business practices and their cheap constant remakes. But honestly what is wrong with disney and their greed?!? They charge $25-30 for DVDS...and it's any movie...old or new...for a dvd lmao. They cost like 5 cents to make...so annoyingly overpriced.
I mean you get Blu-ray with the 4K and for most movies the difference in price is about 5 bucks.. I get the special edition releases but not regular Blu-ray
Hi. I'm having trouble finding dolby atmos movies. 4k or bluray. Is there something I am missing ? Are all bluray dolby atmos ? Because on most websites it does not mention the fact if the movie has dolby atmos. Thanks
James Cameron oversaw the 4K remaster and HDR grading himself. It was his choice to remove the film grain, so anyone saying that the grain missing is a bad thing is just wrong. James Cameron did not intend for the grain to be there but shooting digitally in 1990 wasn't a thing yet. I absolutely loved the 4K transfer of T2 and have zero regrets buying it. Watching it in 4K is how the director intended it to be. If you love grain then this disc isn't for you and if you are a grain hater like myself, then this is the version to own.
No ranking needed. MUCH APPRECIATED! I got Jason Bourne set for Christmas 2020. The disk isn't working, but the digital download seemed okay, but my equipment is pretty old. Oh, I subscribed!
blue ray is better in some movies , people automatically think 4k is better and that is not true, i have some movies that are better on dvd then blue ray or 4k. 80s horror movies are usually just fine on dvd.
I love your videos... this also proves the problem with reviews on ‘quality’ though, so often it’s subjective! I personally thought T-2 looked fantastic... And to be honest I’ve been let down by a lot of 4K titles and wish I hadn’t invested in it so heavily!
I thought the 4k T2 was really good on my sony a8g oled tv and panasonic ub280 player. What tv and 4k player are you using? The color depends on those two equipment you have. I would never buy old school Disney cartoon movies in 4k. The only animated movie I would get are alita, player one and avatar.
I buy 4ks if 1. it would look incredible on 4K (Saving Private Ryan, Planet of the Apes Trilogy) or 2. its really cheap (Alien, John Wick 1 & 2). I still buy everything Bluray. I still can't see much differences. Like what picture quality difference would you get from the Disney Cartoon Blurays to their 4ks?*
@@jeffkardosjr.3825 I don't particularly agree. Hand painted canvases are typically used as backgrounds and looks great on 4k imo. The higher resolution scans also give a bit more depth to the picture, as well as having a wider color gamut, letting us see the artwork closer to how it was meant to be seen
Totally disagree with a couple on here! Gremlins was a great upgrade visually. You can see the pores on faces in some scenes, not that you want to, but definitely better clarity and the HDR makes quite a substantial difference. It’s night and day, I’m sure someone even with a budget set up could see that there is an improvement. So anyone out there wondering if it’s worth the upgrade... yes it’s definitely an upgrade visually! You won’t be using the mediocre Blu-ray transfer again! Disagree with Aladdin too, the corrected ratio means we finally get the full picture as intended and the HDR doesn’t make much of a difference from the regular Blu-ray, which is no bad thing, but eliminates banding altogether and other picture issues etc, it’s definitely more of a solid picture. The one major downside is the horrendous Atmos track, which is flat and non existent! The original 5.1 track beats it hands down!
Disney Plus HDR is not what the industry calls "HDR10." It's still bt.2020 and 10 bits, so that's why they're calling it HDR, and rightly so. 10 bits offers better dynamic range and the wider color space does too. "HDR10" adds metadata that tells the minimum darkness and maximum brightness of the picture. That's all it is.
And when it comes to discs, you won't find bt.2020 without the HDR10 flags. It's either real HDR10 or SDR bt.709 (Bad Santa 2). I don't know why, as there is no spec saying they can't be bt.2020 without HDR10. That's what makes the Disney Plus content kind of bastardized.
@@alexf8148 Improved detail, improved contrast, improved black levels, improved colors, more balanced brightness, specular highlights, OAR. The 4K release "soars above" the Blu-ray release and is a "fantastic improvement" (ultrahd.highdefdigest.com/74851/aladdin4kultrahdbluray.html).
I have almost every title you discuss here. At the end of the day the only person they need to please is me. I don't labor so much over the decision. If there is title I want that is out on Blu Ray and 4K I will buy the 4K without even thinking too much about it. If it is a title I already have on Blu Ray then the only consideration I give is how many times I think I will watch it in the next year...or the next 3 or 5 years. A movie I watch a lot will get a buy. I can appreciate your position about not supporting bad releases. But I'm not with you on that one. For starters, one man's pleasure is another man's pain. Just because you didn't like it doesn't mean others won't. Second, I'm 62 years old and have no interest in letting people I don't know decide for me what is worthy of my money. I'm too old to deny myself one of life's few simple pleasures, and if I make a poor choice on a 4K UHD title then it isn't the end of the world. But so far I don't have any regrets.
It'd be interesting to see what equipment you use to review your movies. Your complains about some 4Ks (except T2) seems that you don't have a good equipment or you think that what's on 1080p is how a movie has to look. You also don't consider the original film stock use in some movies like on Gremlins.
Important to say about the Terminator 2 4k release is, that it's just the theatrical version that was "upgraded" to 4k, none of the longer versions of the movie.
@@TokuAndAnimationNewsNetwork The black levels are off , I didnt see a major improvement over the standard blu-ray. Which is strange cause WB usually knocks it out the park with their 4K transfers.

I loved Gravity in 3D. Saw it at my local Air & Space Museum’s IMAX while they still showed commercial films and it was incredible. Doctor Strange is another really great 3D movie. It really adds to the scale, depth, and perspective.
Great video, would be cool to revisit this topic and do a new video with 4ks to avoid from the last couple of years? I'd also like to see a more detailed video with a list of films that are better on criterion or another label
Bah bought the 4k Aladdin since it is one of my favorite animation movies. Great video though. Shame about Disney and how they treat their products. Doubt Walt Disney would have been happy about the current state of affairs.
Correct me if I’m wrong but re-releasing something from Blu-ray to 4K if it wasn’t filmed in 4K in the first place then what’s the point? Just enjoy the title when it was originally released for what it is!!
Why do you not have all the Disney MCU films on the list!! These movies all have atrocious audio!!! You shouldn’t have to keep cranking your volume up to hear dialogue and then have to turn it down when big action scenes and explosions kick in!!! Any 4K that has you do that sucks!!! I don’t care how great the visuals are!!!! You can’t have one without the other!!! It would be nice if you acknowledged this!!! Disney has been putting crappy audio on their Blu Ray discs and 4K discs for years now!!! That’s why I won’t support them anymore!!! I’m sticking with my older Disney Blu Ray discs because at least back then they gave a damn about physical media!!!
Whoa, easy with the exclamation marks! I agree Disney releases tend to have a lower overall volume level, making you have to raise the volume a bit, but don’t turn it down when the loud parts come in - those are are the best bits! The difference between quiet and loud parts is called dynamic range, and we don’t want that removed as it would make sounds which should be loud have no impact. Modern music has this problem - everything is the same volume throughout an entire track and it gets tiring fast.
Ross Tarran That might be ok for you but I prefer the audio on 1080p Blu Ray!!! Give me good old DTS-HD Master Audio where I can set my volume at a nice level and hear everything versus an Atmos track that isn’t all that! Disney is notorious for doing shit like this! It wasn’t that long ago that they threw all their support behind DVD. Their Platinum Editions were second to none! Then a funny thing happened. Blu Ray came on the scene and you know what was the first casualty? Extras!! That’s right, a company known the world over for their features pack discs were suddenly putting all the extras on the Blu Ray discs and saying to hell with DVD! This was to sway people into adopting the next format. Now that we have, they are at it again with these half ass mastered discs with shitty audio! This is because they are trying to force everyone to adopt their new streaming platform! I have no problem with this as long as Blu Ray doesn’t suffer as a result! There is a shit load of money in physical media and they’re turning their backs on that like some damn FOOLS!!! You don’t leave money on the table! It’s this kind of shit quality which is why I’ll never support Disney again! You want proof? If you have access to it, watch the original Paramount Blu Rays of Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, and the Avengers! Then watch the Disney reissues of each of those films and tell me the Paramount releases don’t have the better audio. Those guys know how to make a disc sound out of this world phenomenal! Disney is just greedy as hell! That’s why so many people are dumping their shit streaming platform after watching the first season of the Mandalorian. It finally came back to bite them in the ass and it couldn’t happen to a better company!!! Put out a crappy product with shitty audio, you pay the price. Karma’s a bitch!!!
Ross Tarran Incidentally, Spider-Man: Far From Home 4K is now also a casualty of the shitty audio syndrome. Since Spidey is in the MCU, for some reason, the sequel has inferior audio to the vastly superior Homecoming 4K disc! And it’s a Sony product, so go figure!! Looks like I’m sticking with the regular Blu Ray on that one too!! If they want 4K to really take off, they’d better stop dicking around with the sound before more people than myself catch on and abandon 4K completely!!!
@@kotobukiya70 I have mostly 1080p Blu-rays too, I only have a few 4K discs of my favourite movies which have been given a good treatment. And I won't be getting Disney+, I have Netflix but mainly watch physical discs as the quality is much better and you can't lose access to the movie (so many films are only on Netflix for a short time). Keep buying those discs and give them a reason to keep selling them!
Ross Tarran You can count on it! I’ve been collecting physical media since the days of VHS. There’s no way streaming will ever make me abandon Blu Ray and 4K. I’ll keep buying until they literally press their last disc! I know I can count on you and other physical media lovers to do the same.
When you get a movie like Aladdin that comes with a Bluray, is the Bluray a different/previous version of the film with different colors, etc. Or is it just a lower quality version of the 4K?

my fav part is when he says Gremlins is just a bluray ported to 4k when its actually a new scan and looks miles better, if he can't get that right then you shouldn't be listening to him
I'm usually not too bothered about 4k blu-rays, for me the increase in detail and colour rarely warrants the extra cost. But being totally honest, after seeing The Last Jedi in 4K, i don't want to go back in this case. The colour is so much richer and provides better depth, and the image is definitely more refined and crisp (there admittedly isn't much in terms of new detail, but i think that's more a compliment to how good the 1080p version was). Tbh, I have the feeling his opinion of the story was colouring his review of the transfer. There were no other 4K Star Wars at the time he released this video, so what basis did he have for thinking the 4k transfers for The Force Awakens and Rise of Skywalker would be better?

I've kind of stopped buying Blu Ray unless I see a good deal in a charity shop. The reason being is directors these days seem to think you want the action extremely loud and the dialogue extremely quiet. I find myself constantly adjusting the volume throughout the entire movie. This was bad on DVD but worse with Blu Ray.

The 4k of ff7 advent children is coming out which im looking forward to but could be a mixed bag. The complete edition on bluray was odd. It was just the added scenes and footage that were proper improvements where the rest of the film was largely upscaled iirc.
Got a disagree about Gremlins. I thought it was a modest upgrade. I think a lot of the transfers problems are inherent from the original photography and I doubt it can really look any better and Ive seen a 70mm blow up.
I agree with almost everything you say here except that, preferences are weird! Love your channel!!
I respect your thoughts and opinions. I like your channel. Have you seen the 4K transfer to Labyrinth? The David Bowie film
Did you see the Doors, Scarface, back draft or wizzard of Oz 4K's? If you have what is your opinion on them?
How old are you? 15? You look pretty childish with your cap worn this way.
Heimkineast you look like an asshole with your comment but I didn’t mention that?
I bought T2 4K for $4. Sounds like it was a waste of money. You should do another updated video of bad 4K movie runs.
2:27 get the 2015 T2 BD release. It’s the only one with film grain intact. The others, such as Skynet Edition, suffer from DNR and a soft picture.
Here is a thread about it if you want to read: forum.blu-ray.com/showthread.php?t=262411
Worth noting is the 3D Blu-ray of T2. I haven't seen it, since I don't have a 3D TV, but the reviews I've read say it's good inspite of its DNR use.
@@pungisotu Eric Kelly I actually wanted the 3D one. Im one of the 10 people that actually enjoy 3D lol but it wasnt region free. I believe it was only released in Korea unfortunately.
If the 4K release comes with the 1080p Blu Ray copy disc in the box, wouldn't that be the 2015 version?

Gremlins was definitely from a new master and looks way better than the Blu-ray. Tons more fine detail and way better grain rendering. The HDR is a bit too teal like most, but it's definitely better than the Blu-ray in every other way.
I turned it off when he said Gremlins didnt need to be in 4k andthe bluray was better, I dread to think what else this spews out of his mouth
I thought gremlins looked awesome, the color is way better imo. Love the channel, excited to see you growing so much.
@UCOz4gsaT1xCB1v-9GmxaDlw seems to be the case with certain films.
Agreed! I loved the color/ HDR and increased clarity. Also, the grain didn't bother me at all. Absolutely a must for fans of Gremlins.
Hey agree to disagree. I just didn’t like the coloring on it and I was disappointed in the grain. But that’s just my eye versus anyone else!
@@JeffRauseo yeah i also have the 4k version and even downconverting to 2k was grainy

Mostly agree with your excellent review.
The controversial "Gremlins" issue... Even if it's not the best and I feel there's still room for improvement, it's still the better version we will get and an impressive 'quantum leap' over the old and almost mediocre Blu-Ray.
I loved Gremlins,,,I didn't avoid and no regrets at all
Gremlins was just fine.
I just watched his full review on Gremlins and he says "I love the HDR in this movie, they did a great job"
Then you watch this video and he says the HDR is bad and they did a bad job...I'm a bit confused.
This is a great PSA video on what to avoid once I make the jump to 4K. Thanks for sharing. Great video.
100% agree
Banding wouldn't happen with the new 10 bit color space...

Hey Jeff can we have an update to this but with the best Blu rays on the market?
Completely disagree with you on gremlins. It looks fantastic and is a major improvement over the so so blu ray. grain and colors are great and looks much more filmic then the blu ray.
Indeed. For a re-release of an 80s film i was surprised how warm and sweet the colours and the grain looked like and i'm glad they didn't make it look like a modern day film but leaving the films soul as it is and as it should be.

It’s almost like why but 4K most of the blu rays look better like a lot better
Dont get me started on their current business practices and their cheap constant remakes. But honestly what is wrong with disney and their greed?!? They charge $25-30 for DVDS...and it's any movie...old or new...for a dvd lmao. They cost like 5 cents to make...so annoyingly overpriced.
Slenderfoxx37 what??? Lol the 4K blu ray combos are only 30 dollars

Master Trainer -Disney is doing the new Peter Jackson Beatles movie coming out in September and I am expecting a 4K release with it.
Thanks
I think most of the new movies has dolby atmos, try batman v superman and the new game of thrones 4k edition
Why is your Gremlins 4K review completely different than the one in this "4K movies I didn't like" video?
Not shocked about the Puppet Master. I’ve found the 4K to be cheaper than the Blu-ray on Amazon countless times.
No ranking needed. MUCH APPRECIATED! I got Jason Bourne set for Christmas 2020. The disk isn't working, but the digital download seemed okay, but my equipment is pretty old. Oh, I subscribed!
Thor: Ragnarok and Black Panther I found had poor audio quality. Pic quality was fine though.
@@HackingSpartan It's not native 4K when 90% of the footage is CGI
blue ray is better in some movies , people automatically think 4k is better and that is not true, i have some movies that are better on dvd then blue ray or 4k.
My Terminator 2 extreme DVD still looks great also
Not on a 4k screen it won't mate.
Are you doing a new version of this?
What! Gremlins looked great
I have a brilliant idea: To make 5 or 10 film list with 7.1 Dolby sound and explain about them which is the best, second best etc
Yes, that would be great!
Hey Jeff! Thanks for posting this one man. Very helpful.
Depends on your TV. If you just have an entry level 4k tv it isn't much of an upgrade
Traditional drawn animation is low definition by nature so really nothing would be gained.
When u say Fake HDR on Disney plus. Would u please explain. What makes You say that? Just wondering. Thanks!
Apparently they have fake colour grading that isn't real HDR but I grew up so not that picky that it looks great to me
Disney Plus HDR is not what the industry calls "HDR10." It's still bt.2020 and 10 bits, so that's why they're calling it HDR, and rightly so.
Loved the picture quality of Aladdin 4K, looked beautiful and a worthwhile upgrade over the Blu-ray imho.
ICA Mitchell I have just bought the Aladdin 4K and lion king amazing
Didn't get the 4k version since i read that Aladdin 4k is upscaled and not native 4k. So I got the 3d version instead which came with both 2d and 3d

Thanks. I just bought it and was saddened by what he said. I feel better now
I love your honesty. Even when you were looking forward to a disc, you're still honest about it. Thank you.
It’s rare that people will comment and it’s rare that they will say honest things.
Wise and honest is extremely helpful.
In short, 4K transfers seem to be hit or miss, with emphasis on HDR and "new color grading" which in quite a few cases might ruin the original film.
Found T2 for $2 in blu ray in a cool record store
It'd be interesting to see what equipment you use to review your movies. Your complains about some 4Ks (except T2) seems that you don't have a good equipment or you think that what's on 1080p is how a movie has to look. You also don't consider the original film stock use in some movies like on Gremlins.
Important to say about the Terminator 2 4k release is, that it's just the theatrical version that was "upgraded" to 4k, none of the longer versions of the movie.
Goodfellas in 4K is pretty bad.

Terminator 2 remaster I have in 3d and it looks really good. One of the best audio is fine
Definitely interested if you have changed this list at all ! Always love seeing people's least favorite 4ks
If you have access to it, watch the original Paramount Blu Rays of Iron Man,
Iron Man 2, Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger, and the Avengers!

I hear that the 4k of The Last Jedi has a great transfer from multiple review sites.
There is no blacks, everything is grey and the atmos doesn't have high sounds it's just mids and surround

I agree with the 4K Terminator 2, I bought it only because it was very cheap. I knew there was something off about the color throughout the entire film. Had to adjust the brightness, sharpness, and color a lot to get it right. I had the Artisian T2 Special Edition and it looked great for a DVD.
Gremlins? Nah it's your tv or 4k player.
Brand mixing caused by user error.
@@dreyn7780 I mean...Brand Mixing isn’t a bad thing right? Like, if I have a Panasonic TV and a Sony Player, that’s not a bad thing. I really don’t think mixing brands is an issue.
@@BCS1105 it’s a bad thing.
One brand sends a measured signal. The other brands require a different input signal number.
They measure voltage and current. Each brand chooses a unique numerical value.
But now in 2020 the equipment is smart and there’s hidden codes communicated between programs.
If the codes don’t match you won’t get subwoofer sounds and people’s voices will get lost in sound tracks.
Your Sony will send a signal that the tv will cause it to blast some colours and sounds and other colours and sounds will be under amplified.
@@dreyn7780 If this is true then it should be illegal.

Just look at the UA-cam video of slot cars being driven on other brand of race track.
They refuse to drive the track.
All of this stuff about signal mismatch, should have been explained to you by salespeople.
Now this electric problem has been added to with security codes that are hidden in the system.
Excellent review. You saved me lots of money. I agree with the Criterion info. also Oppo, Sony es and Panasonic 4k bluray players will optimize bluray to artificial 4k if you don't mind the hdr saturation.
I know I’m a minority in this, but I liked the T2 4k release, and I thought some of the colorful sections of The Last Jedi look fantastic in 4k as well! :)
Said the same thing. I like the clean image.
So glad I found your channel. Invaluable info and you save everyone money.
You’ve earned another subscriber. 🙌🏼🙌🏼🙌🏼
A well balanced audio system takes care of that though. But I know most people don’t have them
@@JeffRauseo I have a Dolby Atmos system with a Dolby Atmos TV. The only way to hear dialogue clearly is to have all other sounds screeching.
Gremlins looks completely filmlike in 4k. I big improvement over the Bluray.
Everybody hates on it so hard.... I feel like it’s got most of its problems baked into the source. If they don’t actually do a fix I’ll end up buying it at some point (it’s one of my favorites)
I bought the 2011 star wars complete saga on bluray in digibook format. Ill probably stick with that and it doesnt include the new trilogy which is fine by me.
I picked up the 35th anniversary 4k back to the future trilogy steelbook set.
Looking forward to indiana jones in 4k. I own it on bluray. So hopefully the upgrade is worthwhile.
The new dts-hd track on the uhd has better surround activity than my old TrueHd blu ray which is much closer to the fore mentioned 70mm screening I attended.
Those Disney ones are pretty lackluster, I'm with you there.
Glad I found ur channel. Great reviews. If u don't mind me asking what kind of 4k tv do u own ?
