The best thing about this song: Al not only parodied the song, but he kept the words to the right rhythm, cadence, and syllable count. To do that so precisely, following the song like this, while replacing every single word to fit like this, really shows off Al's mastery of the English language.

@CyberKultist I wonder if Prince regretted that decision later on. He’s not really known for being able to laugh at himself but still. I can see him needing to approve the final draft before recording begins, but given control over anything he didn’t like then I could see it happening.

Without hesitation, Weird Al invited him back to the hotel where he was staying, and my friend fixed the problem. They have been friends ever since. Whenever Weird Al comes to town, he calls my friend and gives him tickets and a back stage pass so that they can hang out for a while. It was revolutionary and we all thought it was amazingly innovative. Because it was - it was Prince.

Some individuals get defensive, but, most act dismissive, because just about everyone they know talks the same way they do, so it must be right. Very few are appreciative. Lol, you would think that people would want to be grammatically correct, but, alas, you can't expect much when you hear authority figures, including teachers and principals saying, "I seen....".
If previous Weird Al videos didn't prove it this video will. Weird Al is the GOAT of all parodies and is a genius. :)
waiting for Al to cover Kansas with "Carry on my Awkward Son".
You'll be there when the fries are done?
This video should be played everyday in school auditoriums before the start of each day.... For our future generations.
to answer your question of "who thinks of this?" Weird Al, that's who :)
I remember when Prince's video came out in the late 80s with this format, words appearing on the screen in random fonts as he sang them, and using numbers for letters and words, U for you, all that stuff. It was revolutionary and we all thought it was amazingly innovative. Because it was - it was Prince.
Ever see school house rocks on Saturday mornings? Yup, Weird Al wrote all those.
If I'm reading too far into a joke, sorry, but no he didn't

I fell down your Weird Al rabbit hole and man, this is my favourite Weird Al song, now. Complete genuis and national treasure.
Keep bringing the greatness
The lyrics are genius. The animation is genius too. I see a new detail every time I watch this (and it's about time 1,000 now).
Check out his movie, “UHF”
One of my all-time favorite movies!
WHEEL
OF
FISH!
Supplies!
STUPID!!!
YOU ARE SOOOO STUPID!!!
A true cult classic.
The Prince line is a slap because Prince would not let Al do any of his songs.
Peace ✌🏼
React to Livin With An Hernia. One of the old songs of Weird Al
Ah, yeah...old parody of James Brown's "Living In America."
"Can't run...can barely crawl...
Got a bulge in my intestinal wall!"
Classic!
I think this is my favorite Weird Al parody! I agree with you, this one really took a lot of genius to come up with everything he covered in the song. I tend to be a bit of a grammar nazii myself, so i really appreciate it.
“You’re either gonna learn something or feel dumb as hell.”
....Maybe even both?
Long time listener, first time...er...second time responder. I usually listen on XBox so I dont get to comment, but I love the channel man. I have a song for you. Tribute to Marie Fredrickkson. It Must Have Been Love-Per Gessle & Agnes Carlsson. Marie died in January (Brain Tumor), she was with Per as a member of Roxette for over 25 years. It's a live song that is done well enough to bring tears.
My dream collab is Weird Al Yankovic and Eminem on a "funny think" song! BARZ!!!
1969GrassHoppa do you think Eminem has recovered from his Al-TV interview?
I just can’t believe that UA-cam does not block this. I just in joy his videos so much.
When I try to correct people on their grammer, I get called a Word Nazi.
You mean "grammar." ROFL
That is because you don't do it to a snappy beat!
It makes me so happy to watch and listen with you 😄👏🏽👏🏽😄 As a teacher, I am just in LOVE with this parody ❤
"Party at the CIA" based on Miley Cyrus' "Party In the USA."
I love you and your reactions!
Thanks for giving Weird Al his due.
My favorite song of his is "Trapped in the drive-thru" It is like he spied on an average day between me and my wife.
kwcozort The man is just discovering Al, why would you do that to him LOL
Timber Wolf because it’s an R Kelly parody and the only PC way to listen to R Kelly now. That makes it a pretty good suggestion.

Good luck on dealing with the upcoming virus. Please know I will be spending time at home. I will definitely be here watching new AND old videos of yours. Thank you very much Jamel aka. Jamal!
Jamel: WHO THINKS OF THIS?
Me: * Raises hand * I do ...
Me too.
He grew up, like I did, watching school house rock.
But he took to a new level.
The worst word crime I keep hearing is, "That's how mine's be." I work with nurses who speak like this! How did they become a nurse?
For me it's when someone says 'I seen'. NO!! I saw or I've seen. Ugh
I get triggered when people say axe instead of ask
I am a linguist. Those verb changes like I be doing something or mine's be are part of black English which has valid consistent meaning, normal language changes. That's why them nurses be talking like that. It's not ignorance, it's just not the queen's English. The participle drop is common, I seen instead of I have seen is simplification of form. You may not like it but it happens. Aint used to be the correct use of it's not but now it aint.
@@chadfalardeau3259 Linguist here. I've been hearing this for some time and it is a language change you can see happening. Now I use this all the time because I feel it is hastening the trend but I get where you are coming from. If you don't know how language variation happens, you better axe somebody.
Weird Al is brilliant and thank you for sharing your reactions! So much fun to see you get into it.
You have to do
I LOST ON JEOPARDY- WEIRD AL
One of my favs. I showed this to an editor and an english teacher and they loved it.

"The Biggest Ball Of Twine
In Minnesota".
I’m gonna go with dog eat dog. How the hell you parody the Talking Heads is beyond me but he did it
He’s a total genius. I love his videos from parody from Madonna to Michael Jackson. Thank you Jamel!
