I’d imagine that he didn’t actually talk to anyone from RATM because it wasn’t an actual parody of a specific song, and it was more of a style parody where he captures the vibe of a particular band and writes an original song that reminds you of them.
There are also the rare cases like with "The Saga Begins" where it's an adaption instead of a parody, because he didn't use as many verses as in "American Pie." There's also one time he did a straight cover of the "George of the Jungle" theme song due to being mandated to do a cover song by his record company at the time. @@jeffnaslund Well, no. A pastiche is usually more in the vein of a homage, a celebration or honoring. Two reasons to sue Ben Affleck: 1. For getting back together with J-Lo. @ Jamel_AKA_Jamal A few times each album, Al does what he refers to as a "style parody" where, instead of parodying a specific song by an artist, he does his best to make an original song that copies all of the major elements of their style - for instance, his style parody of the band Cake : "Close (But No Cigar)" from the same album as this one, goes out of its way to make a heavy use of a horns as well as a backup section that repeatedly echoes the lead singer by shouting loudly. This joke just works on so many levels. Like, first you have jokes at the expense of people who do frivolous lawsuits in the US, but then it's done in the style of Rage Against the Machine. It's a song where the speaker is basically abusing the system, but singing in the style of a band that hates the system.
Wow! This is amazing! Weird Al has gone in another direction of music. I am hoping for your reaction to, “Girls Just Want To Have Lunch.” That would be great! Thank you for the great reaction, Jamel.

Glad you've been enjoying Weird Al. Please check out Albuquerque The Movie, This Is The Life, Spy Hard, and Buy Me A Condo. The final one of the list is a hidden gem of his and it's reggae which is great to hear him do.
Really enjoying your reactions. I've gone back and watched a lot of them, The Guess Who, Redbone, Primus, and more. I'd love to see your reaction to Ween. Start with "Push the little daisies" and "Baby Bitch" and then whatever peeks your curiosity, but you should watch at least four tracks just to get an idea of their range. They can't be pigeon-holed because every song is the complete opposite of the one before it. Thanks.
My bet is that RATM told Al that if he did a parody of one of their songs, they would sue him. So, his response is a style parody named for what they told him: “I’ll sue ya”, filled with references to stupid things people sue for. Al is polite as hell but, he does turn his disappointment into creative genius.
You still need to watch Beverley Hillbillies/Money for Nothing, Dare to be Stupid, and CNR. You really need to listen to Dare to be Stupid because Al got sounds out of a synthesizer that Mark Mothersbaugh never could do (see Al's Behind the Music episode). Now I need to go listen to Mojo Nixon's Destroy All Lawyers.
Most of all of Al's albums are half parodies and half originals, and most of those originals are done in the style of other bands. For example, there's Frank's 2000" TV is in the style of R.E.M.
You should know, Weird Al directs all his music videos now. He got so good at them that he sometimes does videos for other artists. He did Ben Folds' "Rockin' the Suburbs", which is a great video and song. Check it out!
You need to do a deep dive of all his polkas. Like Polkas on 45, Angry White boy Polka, one that's nothing but Rolling Stones songs, etc. There's one on every album and they are amazing!
Another good one is Weird Al - Don't Download this Song. Of course Al went ahead and released it for free mp3 download at the time. You've done a lot of the best, but some others you could check out: "First World Problems", "Jurassic Park", "Close But No Cigar", "Virus Alert"
I just would like to say I appreciate the videos you put out. Weird Al was one of the first artists albums I had when I was around 9/10 years old, it definitely molded my personality. As others have already said, this is a style parody not a particular song. So Al is the sole songwriter and does not ask for permission for these. As far as I know (and I've googled a lot) he has never been sued for any of his style parodies or for any of his other work. Once he started making albums he was very careful to avoid copyright issues. One of the reasons it took Yoda a long time to be released was because of George Lucas, who eventually gave permission. He tried to do a Green Eggs and Ham crossed with the U2 song Numb but couldn't get the ok from the Dr. Suess estate. There is a hilarious video of a live performance somewhere. If anyone watches it, be sure to watch the U2 video first.

@@woodchuk1 I was wrong on which Steely Dan song. Rick did a slide solo for "Show Biz Kids".
Al's band is legendary.
Makes me realize how similar so many Rage songs are.
That's just having a sound. Like how you know within the first few seconds if it's an AC/DC track; or how Motörhead, Green Day, Slayer, Zeppelin, or Maiden just _cannot_ be mistaken for anyone else.
What are they gonna do? Hide Morello in the changing room?
Wierd AL be dropping bars and spitting straight 🔥 on our sue-happy culture we have now a days!
almost 300K subs... great job big dog! keep it up
Queensryche "Silent Lucidity"...ima keep sayin it!!!...You will love it!!!!!...float you off to another place. Amazing vocals, video, everything
It's been a MONTH, and there's still lots of Weird Al to react to! Lasagna ! or, TACO Grande !
You should check out alburquerque. The song is long though, over 11 minutes long, probally as long as Trapped In The Drive-Thru
But what we're really trying to say is I... HATE... SOURKRAUT!
@@dracoargentum9783 lol
@@bobs.381 Hey, man. You've got weasels on your face.
@@dracoargentum9783 *Screaming*
Big clapping for his band, I love the music but I have never listen to rage of the machine maybe I should, I may like it. Thanks and I will keep asking, you will love one more minute and you don't love me anymore. Anyway I love your reactions to Al's songs.
Please check out You Don't Love Me Anymore.
The song isn't a parody per say but the video is a parody of a music video by Extreme
I got to hang out with Zack for a few minutes once outside an art studio he had/has(?) just above Downtown LA (northern Chinatown). He was very cool.
should you one of his original
one more moment
dare to be stupid
it's Christmas at Ground Zero
You be in tears laughing so much if you watch these
His tender "You Don't Love Me Anymore" makes me cry... with laughter.
Party at the leper colony. "There's a guy in the hot tub I don't know who....."
"This is the Life"
“Those were the good old days” is my fave original song by wierd al.
Please look up Sam Perry,When Doves Cry,from the Voice.what he did was a game changer and blew everyone away!
Glad you've been enjoying Weird Al. Please check out Albuquerque The Movie, This Is The Life, Spy Hard, and Buy Me A Condo. The final one of the list is a hidden gem of his and it's reggae which is great to hear him do.
If you haven't seen 'CNR' yet, it's a must. Total 'style parody' of the White Stripes and the video is bloody amazing.
Another weird al yankovic music video you should check out is Craigslist
He made the song ambigous enough so RAge couldn't sue =)
You should check out weird al behind the scenes. Get a look at the maestro at work.
Behind the scenes from Straight Out of Lynwood, that's the best one.
Please react to Weird Al's "Do I Creep You Out?"
Please react to perform this way is a parody of Lady Gaga,
“Weird Al” Yankovic - Jerry Springer!
After seeing the Kickapoo reaction I have to strongly recommend you do some Meatloaf and Dio. Two of the greatest rock vocalists that have ever lived.
Dio! Start with Holy Diver or a Rainbow song like Kill the King or Stargazer.
“Wu-Tang is for the children.”- ODB
Another great Al song is "This Is The Life"
You should know, Weird Al directs all his music videos now.
Weird Al was not playing on this joint AND spitting facts - people sue for anything these days. Adding to my playlist ASAP!!
You have to do The night Santa went crazy. Funny as hell!!! Keep it up!
Another good one is Weird Al - Don't Download this Song. Of course Al went ahead and released it for free mp3 download at the time.
You've done a lot of the best, but some others you could check out: "First World Problems", "Jurassic Park", "Close But No Cigar", "Virus Alert"
I'm sure Zack loved the idea. Zack is a very down to Earth guy with a solid mind :D Talking about politics in interviews and understanding people.
I just would like to say I appreciate the videos you put out. Weird Al was one of the first artists albums I had when I was around 9/10 years old, it definitely molded my personality. I don't know if you have heard the Key Of Awesome. He did a lot of parodies up until the last few years. If you get the chance check his channel out. Thanks again.
I hadn't seen that one. I'll have to go check the original video out. Thanks for letting me know it exists.
If I was an attorney, this will be my theme song !🤘🏻
I love the Weird Al reactions. If you really want to know about channelling Zack then ask Weird Al for an interview on your channel. He's a really nice guy and he might just do it for ya.
If you're gonna keep doing Weird Al, I recommend "Perform this way". But the way you're going you'll get to it eventually it seems. Been liking these vids during the trying times here, a nice break and change of pace. Good to laugh for a bit.
I wonder if he's ever played this live in New Jersey.
Weird Al has naturally curly hair
Mind you that this also alludes to the bands name... the only real way one can "rage against the 'machine'" is by filing lawsuits...
Still waiting for Albuquerque! Pleaaasee
Recently I came across a busker group called Brothers Moving on YT singing Minnie The Moocher.....
I was so shocked at how raw the guy’s talent was ......Please react ....Stay well....✌🏻🙏🏼🇬🇧🇺🇸
Have you played Weird Al: Stop Forwarding That Crap to Me? A really good one.
He needs to hear some Meatloaf first, since that's a style parody of Jim Steinman. I'll Do Anything For Love, Bat Out of Hell.
Please do "If that isn't love" or "You're Pitiful" ! Still from Weird Al ;)
Al always puts in the work. Do Confessions part 3. Or Trapped in the drive thru
When he had burger queen at the last there used to be a chain called that. When I was little and the chain closed there was one store that put 'closed due to a big mac attack' on their sign.
Als guitarist Jim West doesn't get enough credit
I haven't watched the video yet, but I commented just to say that this was the reaction I was looking forward to.
