    So, I work as an inventory manager (and was a salesperson before) at a Mazda dealer in the States. Yuri, your claim of best family car isn't wrong. These sell like hot cakes for good reason. Turbo engine is definitely the way to go as the NA version can feel like a dog getting on the highway. I do understand going for the top trim because it was what was there and available, but honestly, the only big benefit from the Signature (if the new 22 no plastic cladding looks don't matter) is that 360 camera. The next trim down, the GT Premium (just called Turbo in 22) is almost identical in feature set and doesn't lock you into the brown seats and generally doesn't cost as much. That would be my personal recommendation for anyone else since you can get my personal favorite looks combo of the dark blue with the white interior. Also, Yuri, there is a way to get the car to lock after closing the tailgate without having to finagle with anything. If you go into the settings menu and go to vehicle settings and then to locks, you can turn on a walk-away lock system that auto locks the car as the keyfob leaves proximity. The folding mirrors will let you know that it worked. I *always* explain and turn this on for customers when they buy one. Good luck with the new car!

      I don't get how a brand like Mazda can sell so well, receive great reviews from car journalists, while also being reliable, and yet they still lose out in depreciation over traditional car brands

    • @ashvampire5223
      @ashvampire5223 2 роки тому +45

      @@colechapman6976 I have a few theories.
      1. Mazda doesn't have options. The trim levels are your options. So there's not really any personalization that can be done. That results in a "what you see is what you get" form of all their cars which then results in a lack of "desirable configurations" on the secondary market.
      2. The utility of these cars (not talking about Miata (I own an ND2) or turbo 3 hatch) and their high reliability means that they don't get recycled through the secondary market. They are used and a lot of the time abused before they make it back into the market as used cars. High miles, spotty service history, etc. So where they may actually hold value you don't typically see because by the time you do see the used ones, depreciation isn't what's really driving their value. Not over their condition.
      3. Mazda being a smaller OEM, they don't have the capital to do more frequent refreshes like the larger manufacturers like Toyota or GM. So the cars will stay the same and sometimes be behind the tech curve a lot more often, which may drive higher depreciation.

    Yuri - two things:
    1. The transmission will not auto upshift in manual if you don’t floor it all the way (past the kick down switch). This is the same for all Mazdas; and,
    2. There IS a lock button on the trunk. It’s to right of the handle around the license plate light. There is a small circular button you can use to lock the car. Open the tailgate, and you’ll see it. Says it in the owners manual, too.
    I picked up a 2022 CX-5 Turbo Signature to replace a 2016 Audi A4 quattro that was totaled in an accident. It’s truly a phenomenal car, plenty of power, amazing features, feels well built (like a class above, honestly), and handles well. 4,200mi since April 30, and I couldn’t be happier!

      @@roboticvenom1935 Of the non-luxury options (Rav,CRV,Cherokee,Forester,Taos,Escape,etc) it really is. It's only shortcomings are sheer space and maybe not the most advanced self driving tech and drive train. Interior quality and design, safety, driving dynamics, external styling, standard and optional features, reliability, etc are class leading or among the best. It may not have a hybrid power train and impressive MPGs like the Rav4 Prime, buts it's simpler and easily more reliable over the long haul. My 21 has the improved infotainment and cameras which brings it up to par with the competition, the older ones to your point really do feel a bit old. We never found that underpowered in all the driving we did, so this engine in the smaller and lighter package must be more than adequate.
    I recently got a Mazda3 hatchback. Mine is a fairly stripped trim as inventories were low and I needed a car quickly after my prior one got totaled. It’s an NA automatic with AWD and I I honestly love it. After the first day or two of messing around with the knobs and buttons of the infotainment system, it makes perfect sense to me. I rented a car with a touch screen and found myself taking eyes off the road a lot and on bumpy roads I found it extra annoying trying to touch the right spot on the screen.

    So you don't need to press the lock button everytime, just be sure that all doors and liftgate are closed before walk away.
    Other cool feature is to link each key to a memory seat position, so, the car will automatically adjust the seats depending on what key is being used at moment of unlocks.

I got sick of it after about a year of ownership, and went on eBay to get some stainless steel covers for the trim; only about 80 bucks or so (for the center console and all 4 door handles), and that solved it! Looks so much nicer now and very fingerprint resistant, and the trim feels cool to the touch and even more solid now to boot!

      @@MarTin-ku4lx Oh agreed. Not every manufacturer/dealer has a cleaning protocol though. My Mazda dealer didn't when I was trying to deal with that issue. If this was part of regular maintenance and readily available it might be less of an issue. I do like that some manufacturers have migrated to a dual injection system, which takes care of that issue. Ford, Mercedes, Toyota and even VW (Europe) have this available. It needs to be more widespread.

On a 3 hour drive from the dealer I never touched the pedals once. People should learn to use those, would reduce traffic congestion I think. Lane departure might as well not be there, useless. I found this from another thread and thought this would be very useful on the how-to forum for people who want to disable their DRL.
    HERE’S HOW TO DO IT::
    SETUP:
    1) car set to ignition (car is active, but engine is off)
    2) press brake pedal down and hold during the whole time
    3) parking brake up
    START:
    you have to do the whole process once you start under 23 sec.
    4) turn parking light on and off 5 times. on - off - on - off - on - off , etc.
    under 2 sec start #5
    5) turn hazard light on and off 5 times.
    under 2 sec start #6
    6) turn parking light on and off 5 times.
    DONE:
    7) to check if the DRL still comes on, simply disengage the parking brake. If it doesn’t come on, then you’re done. Otherwise repeat the process again.
    Repeat same step to reactivate
    It worked for me
