      It sounds like his Mom has a very expensive life style, and just got cut off by her ex-husband. Now she wants her son to foot the bill for her life style. What the son can do is buy his own medium sized house, and follow Dave's baby steps to secure his own financial situation. At that point, he can say, hey Mom, if you want, you can move in with me, for very little extra expense. But I can't pay for your life style for the next 20 years.

      It is quite possible that she has a very expensive house with a mortgage that she got in the divorce. Alimony is taxable income, so she is probably looking at $11k or $12k/month after tax. If she's in a $2M+ house with a mortgage, the payments could easily be $10k a month. My guess would be she took the house in the divorce, but the alimony was barely enough to keep her above water.

Same as these callers you see here, just because you make 200/4/5/6k a year doesn't mean a lot if the job's been handed down through relationships of your parents/family have created and they give you the opportunity to earn that. So many things in the story are so weird.
    Is Mom has made $150,000 a year? Why in the world does she need an extra grand from him?
    I think there are a lot of things being left out here. Weird.
    Also he is 25 and his mom is 70? Wow

    15k per month for 5years is 900k! Even if she pays half in taxes, that's still 450k over 5years; a large nest egg. Anyone with somewhat reasonable spending habits can live off that

      Mortgage on a 2M dollar house is 10k per month. You're just not thinking about that.

    • @morgancornwall3254
      @morgancornwall3254 3 роки тому

      @@jojohns9670 Ok so if some of that 15k went to that it would be a tax right off. So say the income is $8500 instead of $7500.
      This would also assume a $2mill house has no rental suites or additional Living space that could be rented. In addition, we are assuming the ex wife has $0 income.
