As someone whos been through 2 high end alienware laptops (one was a warranty replacement that took over 3 months of talking to support after they broke mine). Dont. These things dont last long, are super loud, super hot and dont actually perform well. I have an m17 r2 sitting on a chair non functional because it bricked itself randomly one day, paid $200+ for a new mobo and they broke it again when they did the installation, eventually magic smoke came out and it and when i looked inside i saw whoever did the mobo replacement wrenched on stuff, stripped screws and used a damage mobo. It conveniently broke a month after i got it back meaning no warranty. Never again. Biggest upside was the keyboard, loved that thing
I had an M15x I think it's called, for a fair while, i7, started with GTX-260 GPU, later upgraded to HD 5870 or so. But I'd only recommend it if one looks for essentially a transportable computer, not a laptop. You can't use something like mine as a laptop, you need wall power and a desk to use it. And a forklift truck to transport it. At minimum you are not going to transport anything else at the same time. But it was never loud or hot and is even today quite a fast computer. $200 for a mobo is not bad, it being so soon after replacement sounds like you would have had a potential dispute to bring to court if nothing else.
Could y'all do one or two charts showing the difference between balanced and performance presets? Idk about other people but my laptop is so loud on performance that I never use it, even when playing AAA games.

U all know this? Segue vs Segway Segue is occasionally found spelled segway, even in edited text. There are two likely reasons for this: the familiar suffix -way (as seen in driveway and runway) seems to agree with the notion of a segue as a "path" along which something transitions; and the existence of the homophone Segway as a trade name for an American company that produces electric transportation devices. The standard spelling segue comes from the use of the word's Italian root as a direction in music, indicating a transition without interruption.
One thing I dislike the most about my alienware laptop is the command center, just not as fleshed out as it should be. It's been how long now dell? CC still buggy and wacks out...
This MicroSD trend is just an insult. Not having one was bad but just about “acceptable”, because most PC towers don't have one and then you buy an external reader. But now getting them back/ having one and it being MicroSD just feels bad. It's like they're taunting you in a way of “hey, we can do it, but we won't give the real stuff to you”. It’s practically useless at this point. Except for GoPro footage, what do you even still use MicroSD for? To back up your Nintendo Switch? Your 5 year old budget line android phone? Just give me the full size SD or nothing. I can always put my micro SD in an adapter if I need to, as those come with them anyway 90% of the time. I definetly won't be starting to use MicroSD in cameras or the like if the future even looks like it might be CF-Express A or B instead.

16" screen and a 4070? For $1900? I'm still using my 2020 Aorus 15G with a 2070 that I spent $1500 for. I don't see anything wrong with this. ANY laptop with a 40 series GPU will run hot, especially sitting flat on the table top. Lift the back 3/4 inch and it will cool down and lower the fan noise. If I felt any need to replace my current rig I'd be all over this.
Small track pad is 100% a benefit. 100% of us gamers are using a mouse to game but probably only 50% maybe less have an external keyboard. So the small track bad allows us to rest our palms next to the track pad to get to the QWER, ASD, etc keys to game with. Actually love the fact the pad is small. Then when you do need it (if that ever happens) it’s still there.
I bought this laptop and out of the box the fans are all over the place. like shown in the video here the fans where way higher than they needed to be for the temperature, but unlike here where he was able to get it to run at about 50% speed I can't get mine to go under 70 while under a load and low CPU temperatures than he had here. I would love some help with this if anyone knows a solution.
Sure go to msconfig and dissable a.acs.alienware control center. From there go buy IETS 500 V1. now plug and play only when cooling pad at 80% or higher. Now the questions you have, why, what for,how come, and WHAT? Alienware is shit product ,i have m15 r3 2020. He got crack on lid from zipper, dont ask. And scratches from anything and everything. Now back to first part, fans on laptop are shit and all alienware runs at 80c usualy,or 93 c under load. By dissabling acs you will improve cooling air intake and control. Now why that product? It has air filter you can remove. Andjustable fan speed, yes with togle/button. And other nifty stuff like 360 circular air flow to cool off. After i got it my alienshit never gone above 60c ,and i live in hot country Enjoy 😂

Honestly L opinion from Alex. It’s a gaming laptop. - Trackpad is small because nobody in their right mind games on a trackpad - Fans are loud because everyone in their right mind games with headphones on(although it is still loud) - Speakers suck because everyone games with headphones on - camera sucks because nobody in their right mind uses webcam on a laptop - even a streamer would use external camera It does exactly what it’s designed to do, just loudly.

People werent buying over a 4070 because they would to sell their kids to afford this laptop. Even this laptop cost a lot and you have only 16GB of RAM in it for almost 2k? .... what a joke.
meh.... alienware brand has fallen off it looks like.. for a premium product I expect the best of best. Haptic touchpad, oled, amazing sound, and a great webcam with facial recognition/windows hello support, and amazing cooling that is quiet.
The 4070 is absolute trash compared to the 4080 and those Ultra processors are a step down as well. I don't want my gaming laptop to be an Ultrabook. I want it to use as much electricity as possible. My R1 is one of the last true gaming laptops from Alienware, as far as I'm concerned.

I had just got this for 2 days, and this how i felt, the performance of the laptop was good, but overall, u sacrifice the rgb light at the back along with the cooler, which will make thermals not good, and replace the rgb light in the the edge of the touchpad, but m16 r2 using core ultra 7 to reduce the heat was also a great way, im a graphic designer and i felt this laptop was enough for me to use, how should i say... you gonna have a less attractive laptop this time, but the performance was there and even cooler a little bit compares to the m16 r1, i do love the design of alienware m16 r1, but this version was more of convinient and easier for traveling, not saying the design was bad this time, but the lost was not nessesary, like its okay with m18 r2, like they still keep the design and develope the performance at the same time and that was perfect, this version was more like close to what you actually need a gaming laptop to belike depends on your budget, like how its looks as a gaming laptop and how its works as a gaming laptop.
Props for a matte display??? No. Ever notice that macbooks and phones have glossy displays? That is for a reason. It looks better, gives more brightness, better colors, better contrast and clarity. Also, this laptop has too poor cooling and the design is relatively lackluster in current year compared to the competition, i think...
I still say they should build laptops without GPU as if they had a GPU... The GPU laptops look much better for work than any "business" laptop I've come across...

I dont know why some gaming laptops have this cool factor about them. I have a desktop, this would be a downgraded experience. Do i still want it? Yes.

Bummer with a micro sd slot, fullsize or bust.
I bought that 240W power supply from the states because my M16 from Canada shipped with the 330 watt brick which is more than Twice as big.
But 330 watt adapter would give more performance if you are using both the GPU and CPU at once
@@warriorsfg The max TDP of Both the GPU and the CPU is far less than 330 watts. The 4070 in my machine is max 110 watts and the CPU is like 75. 240 watts gives a good amount of headroom.
@@ConsitentlyInconsitent oh...
But then they might have included the 330W adapter for some reason right?
Like why would anyone give you extra lol
@@warriorsfg it's probably cheaper to keep stock of one SKU for all your laptops than to have multiple types. Only guessing though .
Just stop using imperial guys, the US needs to be left behind 🐰
U all know this?
Segue vs Segway
Segue is occasionally found spelled segway, even in edited text. There are two likely reasons for this: the familiar suffix -way (as seen in driveway and runway) seems to agree with the notion of a segue as a "path" along which something transitions; and the existence of the homophone Segway as a trade name for an American company that produces electric transportation devices. The standard spelling segue comes from the use of the word's Italian root as a direction in music, indicating a transition without interruption.

it looks a lot like dells gaming laptop... you don't say lol?
dell Alienware 😜
But why does it have to look like that?
4:20 But isnt that a good thing? I like my dark areas dark. Why should i expect them to be bright?
One thing I dislike the most about my alienware laptop is the command center, just not as fleshed out as it should be. It's been how long now dell? CC still buggy and wacks out...
0:38 it's quite baffling to see what qualifies as massive these days 😏
The body piercing didn't go exactly as he expected.
In Video form, where the graphs are there for a second, instead of putting it as a ranking individually for each graph, maybe, give each product that spot, so for the next chart, we can see that all products are related to the same spot in every chart.
Designed in 2023?
It's sad that they can't get the audio experience right for a premium laptop.
Dude thanks. I do the same thing. Elevating the back to allow air flow is the way to go.
After i got it my alienshit never gone above 60c ,and i live in hot country
Enjoy
😂
I bought this because it was the only available laptop with no oled and 4070 in my region. Its absolute garbage, stutters all the time regardless of the power mode. On idle its constantly reaching 70-80, gaming 100+ all the time. Alienware command center is garbage as well. Never getting an Alienware product again.
I gotta say, between my ROG 17, Legion 15 and AW 17R5, I much preferred the Alienware between the 3.... I can't always say the same when it come to productivity laptops with Dell, I guess that's just preference (I prefer older Thinkpads, they do plenty well), but my AW was definitely the most well built.
they should make a airplane friendly power brick. i learned on a flight that the airline i was on shuts off the 110v outlet if it draws over 60 watts. was not a fun 11 hour flight.
"For an Intel laptop it's really quite good!"
_Wonders when they'll take a gander at Eluktronics and gawk at how they set the bar at a whole new level..._
As a side note, the fact that they're selling this machine for $1900 USD and it only has a 4070 (still only has 8GB vram), only has 16GB ram, and only a 1TB SSD... really grinds the gears a bit. >.> 4070 laptops can be had, casually, for around $1400. Why would you _bother_ with this thing?
i can see the chassis flexes around when you pressed it. the screen bezel WOBBLING around. and with that "entry" level of configuration, 16gb 1TB SSD, you could get exactly the same spec fropm other brand for a mere 1200-1400 USD, which has the bezel less wobbling. you said you cant fault it, you just being "politically motivated".
there are better alternatives.
It looks like Dell's laptop because Alienware is owned by Dell 😂. I'm sorry but this thing is, out-of-date by 10 years. I have a Lenovo from 2012 that is thinner and lighter. 4070 lol 🤣. It's not an actual graphics card it's just a chip. This thing could have a CD drive it's literally 2 in thick.
If you're lugging around something 6 lb. You might as well buy a desktop.
"props for matte display" yeah because only like 99% of gaming laptops have a matte display, so rare! Who needs natural-looking colors anyway?
It’s on sales for 1699 at Best Buy. I know some people said not worth for original price but what about 1699? Reviews are great at best buy
I just got it today and it’s running pretty great, you just got to optimize everything or it’ll sound like a jet engine.
If you remember let me know in a week please how it’s going
@@IAmJeka yeah well I returned it to get a pc because it was overheating
@@jaidenschildhauer oh shoot really?!? Oh man. What pc did you get
"That's a MASSIVE power adapter".
Sir! My Alienware Area51M has TWO bricks (to be connected at the same time!), 240 AND 320W, each DOUBLE the size of the one you called MASSIVE. Lol.
Yaaaaawwwwwn
Wake me up when there's a laptop like this for less than $600. What kinda loser is actually gonna spend $1,500 for this?
Looks like a laptop from like 5 years ago. I can't believe the tiny trackpad, and the RGB around it looks tacky. Don't see how it competes at all with Lenovo Legion 7i or Asus Zephyrus G16 which are also slim/premium gaming laptops for roughly the same price with better screens, better looks/build quality, better speakers, better trackpad, etc.
Alienware is GarbageWare, I'm sick of my Alienwares being built to break to sell warranties...and my capacitors keep popping/leaking!!! Omfg, and my keycaps are constantly breaking, and I baby my laptop compared to many other gamers!!!!
Honestly L opinion from Alex. It’s a gaming laptop.
- Trackpad is small because nobody in their right mind games on a trackpad
- Fans are loud because everyone in their right mind games with headphones on(although it is still loud)
- Speakers suck because everyone games with headphones on
- camera sucks because nobody in their right mind uses webcam on a laptop - even a streamer would use external camera
It does exactly what it’s designed to do, just loudly.
I have an M18 with a Core i9 and a 4090. It is GARBAGE. I bought it in Jan and it is already a hand-me-down for my kids. Every few years I give Alienware a chance to see if they've improved and they are always unstable and unreliable.
My Alienware 240w power brick is twice the size of that one.
1:12 no kilograms conversion, duh
Those speakers are insanely bad compared to the 16” MacBook Pro. And 2560x1600 at less than 400 nits? Those specs are straight off a 10-year-old MacBook Pro.
Dell makes very crappy stuff and it's customer support is asus tier ...
Don't know why LTT is running advertisement videos for them ...
It is really stiff keyboard tests it on a rubber surface....
we are neer 2025 and laptom with su much price and fake best performance have 2x 8gb hahhaa joke we have that when we play Gothic 2 in 2002 , 22 years ago. And this is tech cannell? Joke of the millenium.
Alienware completely dropped the ball since area51m r2.....that was the last overpowered laptop .....nothing since unfortunately just cheap plastic
Alex needs to learn new words. EVERY single one of his "reviews" includes so much old content. Are you guys super strapped for cash or just writers? You guys have money no? Spend it?
Yeah I stopped listening at 16gb of RAM. It's not a serious gaming laptop. It's a Dell laptop with Dell scratched out and AW scribbled on in crayon.
DCI-P3 of 85% on a premium product and you seem to be raving about it (or at least giving it a pass)....and it's dim??? Wow, I've never called you guys shills before...but that's gross and makes me start to wonder. Lower tier products break 400 nits and 92%....please think about how this makes you look.
These guys gave up on utmost credibility a long time ago. They're just a company that has to meet its bottom line now.
I dont know why some gaming laptops have this cool factor about them. I have a desktop, this would be a downgraded experience. Do i still want it? Yes.
I love watching LTT, but I bought an Alienware Area 51m after Alex gave it a glowing review and it was one of the worst purchases of my life.
The best thing about this channel is gaming laptops... Would love to see alex try the galaxy book 4 edge tho.
I wish they would adjust their claim about screens for professional colour work - noone is doing professional work on this - you would be using an SDI card and display at the minimum to bypass all the windows and GFX driver crap
I'm disappointed in you Alex, I come to this channel to watch you put stickers on products in janky places, and this time it looks damn near professional... smhmh
It looks like a budget dell gaming laptop. That’s a bad thing it should be other way around the budget device should look like the premium one. Now it’s like they took the design of the cheap shit. Tossed in hotter hardware used better materials and called it the day.
My Alienware laptop got hot as a stove just being in sleep mode. So I cooked a steak and some eggs on top of it.
I'm only joking about the steak and eggs. Don't buy Alienware.
Another failing "high end" Windows laptop. I've given up with PC, my MacBook is much faster and quieter.
0:04 "Alienware... Out of this world" ... I see what you are doing Alex. Well played 😏
Do you guys want to know something interesting? At 60hz the brightness is like 25-30% more compared to 240hz
wow, look at those CPU temps when playing the games, is that normal on laptops?
All the alienware laptops my company bought all needed to send back to them in the first week 😑. It's just a totally over-rated brand now.
