The only thing I really didn't like was how the wolf-monsters at the end didn't resemble the other participants in any way. Maybe it was the budget or just time in general. I thought that was a very freaky detail to the book. Also the whole hallucination bit after being stung by the wasps. That was crazy in the book.
Nexils i doubt it was a budget or time issue as much as it just wasnt practical, like its hard to convey in the movie a characters inner monolouge like it is in a book where the whole thing is essentially inner monolouge, so there was no good way to justify why any of them would be able to recognize the dogs as other competetors without literally spoonfeeding the audience that information. i totes agree it was one of the more twisted visuals in the book but theres no way to tell the audience in a theater that which is probably why the opted not to half ass it or squeeze in extra lines that didnt continue to drive the story
I love how she said that the fashion of the capital was supposed to feel avant- guard like the kind you see but “no one would wear in REAL life”, because the people in the capital live in a bubble completely detached from reality.
maximum melody I have a feeling that you didn't read the books. If you read a third person book then you don't forget how to spell the mane character's name
A friend took me to the see Hunger Games in the theatre. I knew nothing about it, and was mortified when I saw a kid smashing another in the face with a brick. It made me feel sick to my stomach, and I abhorred the movie from then on. However, over the next few days, my mind kept going back to how interesting Effie was. I eventually read the books, and understood the story. Now, I love them all, thanks to Effie.
I do wish Katniss' makeup team was kept in the later movies. Their adoration of Katniss, and, later, the abuse they suffered in 13 brought in a whole other level of complexity and depth to me.
Blu Jay honestly me too Effie and the makeup team as well as Johanna and finnick (I don’t remember how to spell his name) ended up being my favorite characters and I’m honestly pissed they didn’t get more recognition in the films with the exception of a spilt second clip in the first movie the make up team deserved more than that😡
Patrick Berger Look at what he’s wearing though; a suit jacket (a contemporary piece that we would wear today) and a neck frill (a 16th and 17th century piece that we recognise as an historical garment). The ‘umbrella’ is really just a parasol in a slightly odd shape. I think these pieces come together to show us something that we can isolate and recognise in individual parts but when it’s all put together, it’s a new look that we haven’t really seen before
I loved the fashion they created for this film franchise. Most of the clothes I wear nowadays are inspired by the clothes we got to see Jennifer Lawrence wear as Katniss Everdeen.
Just because lady gaga did it. That does not mean it ever became a trend. I think more then 1 human in the future will be doing this xD i meant as a trend.
I think we can add walking in those shoes to Elizabeth Banks' talent! Ouch :/ It's always strange for me to see her in the costume without the accent... "That is mahogany!" Lol.
The capital costumes were so well done it's like on the verge of future and past and with those dark tones too it's amazing and honestly it doesn't look tacky or silly at all the crew did such a great job
true. It's bevause we live on the "capitol" of this world. Poor people who work to survive can't even afford to think about something like under eye highlight
The hunger games really exceeded all my expectations for a book turned movie..its really one of the best and this video proved it even more..the details, the cast..it made the movie even more astonishing n amazing
I think the avoxes are mentioned like once in the third movie. It was too little too late because I think that really drove home just how vile and inhuman the Capitol was.
in the beginning of the first movie Katniss talks about fleeing from district 12 and Gales says that they would get caught and their tounges would get cut off. Its really just one sentence. but I cant remember them saying the word avox.
They mention that the guy serving them food in the first movie when Peeta and Karin’s go to the capitol for the games is an avox, Peeta asks what that means and someone explains but other than that I don’t remember they mentioning it ever again
TWO THINGS 1. At 15:22 I actually flinched from being startled. 2. At 16:04 when Rue’s melody comes on and Jennifer starts talking about the mockingjay pin I just got a little emotional and got chills from Jennifer humbly expressing how much of an honor it was to wear that precious symbol. I miss these days and will forever cherish my memories of reading the books and seeing them come to life so breathtakingly on the screen.
I wish the ladies/hair, make up and costumes would read these comments. Ladies, I totally saw the story thru your work and choices. Breath taking is the accurate word.
Wasn’t expecting to watch all of this as I’m not a fashion person, but the designs in the film were just so good that this hooked me. Love all the BTS with random extras too, you rarely get that. Those artists all did amazing, especially with how much they had to do!
Since people are CHOOSING to be triggered about the hair comment. She doesn't say frizzy hair is unnatural. She's referring to the styles in the movie where there's an unnatural texture and style to the hair. Example a perm. Frizzy, curly but usually not like anyone's natural curls. (Every curly haired person I know says natural curls are not the same as a perm) Think of the wigs they had on very reminiscent of 17 century but not a natural texture. No one's hair is the shape of a frizzy flower.

All the design work in this movie was absolutely stunning, from the costumes to the buildings, and even the sewer, eye for detail everywhere. It was so believable. This did deserve a nomination
Along with the already strong series by Suzanne, the care and thought put in by everyone involved behind the scenes is another reason why this movie still holds up so well. I love that they worked together to create the world described in the book and it was a phenomenal effort
They really outdid themselves in this - everything was above and beyond anything I’ve ever seen in a film before. I could not believe the amazing detail that went into every extra - even if they were only shown for a second. Spectacular job, thank you so much for all the fantastic work.
Vintage fabric for her reaping dress. That's awesome! No wonder it looks so authentic! It really does look like something my Great Grandma Chet wore in the '30's. She lived in a farmhouse that was built in 1890. It sits out in a tiny hollow that branches off from another small hollow that branches off from a highway that was once another small road. It's my family home on my Mom's side. We now live there and have been "remodeling" (keeping it as authentic as possible). ❤💖 When I first read the book and Katniss mentions that District 12 was once known as Appalachia, I instantly connected. It's my favorite series, along with Harry Potter.
Having all those extras be in hair&makeup for hours JUST to have them on screen for about a seconden, only passing, just to bring some atmosphere to life. Man I love that. All that effort. How much fun did these people have??
The Hunger Games franchise is one of the best costumed series of films to ever been released. It got the contrast of class right in a way that frightened me when I saw the first film.
This is my ultimate goal in life. To be able to work as part of the costume department for the entertainment industry. I absolutely love it and I was geekin'out watching the makeup designer as well because I am a big fan of her work and she's a legend.

I really hope that now they're talking about making a movie for the new book the capitol fashion will be done like how they did it here, that would be absolutely amazing
this isn’t really a dig at the extras at all but i’m so glad that all the extras aren’t stunning people because through the whole movie i never thought of the members of the capitol as being beautiful people, hence why they wear so much gaudy clothing and makeup so it made me happy that that suited the book so much
"the book was better than the movie" I think this is one of those series where I can say I enjoy both. I think Catching Fire was possibly the most accurate book adaptation, with only the Avoxes left out because that would have been jarring after they were left out of the first movie. I just wish the ending had been 'Twilight Breaking Dawn Part 2'd. Because the book ending was pretty anticlimatic and disappointing. Would have been awesome to have had some absolute plot twist.

The fashion and makeup in these movies were stunning. Not halloweenish or silly in the slightest. More editorial kind of vibes
lol it’s pretty halloweenie

Hey Mitch.

I honestly don't think so. I think a lot of actors were wrong for their roles and the costumes weren't very impressive either
honestly the fashion was the best part of the movies
i love all music on the inside I’m not sure that’s a compliment

Alia Ris I mean the district 12 extras got autographs.
