Thanks for this video.. I just changed mine this morning and Bam... it's works... Every time I got gas, my car would not wanna start right up.. but now it's working just fine... Now.. for the check engine light to turn off.
Sometimes depending on the code/ symptom the CEL needs to be turned off manually by using a CEL reader that clears codes, if the problem is fixed 🔧 it shouldn’t come back but if that part wasn’t the correct part to be changed it will come back within a day or so
Thanks, this fixed my problem. P0442 & P0496 It was three tools total, 10mm socket, flat screw driver and a torx driver for the shroud. Disconnected the negative terminal for about 10 minutes. No alarms!! I went to a Valvoline oil change center. Changed my oil and check for the codes.
Thank you for this video, it helped me a lot. Just changed this valve on a 2015 impala v6 and it was a piece of cake. To take the engine cover off you need a T30 torx socket.
My symptoms were every time I would pump gas at the gas station, when I’d go to turn on the car it would take a long time to start, and the check engine light. Code P0496. With the help of this video I changed the Purge Valve Solenoid and cleared CEL manually (with the CEL reader) and now when I pump gas the engine turns on perfect/ normally and it seemed to have worked 😃👍
I have the same code problem on my 2016 Impala. Just ordered a gas cap and thinking about trying this fix to see if I can get that darn light to go off on the dash
My 2016 Chevy Impala limited had this part go bad also. I received a letter in the mail from GM stating that there is a defect with it and that if it is brought into a dealership they will fix it for no charge. Assuming the vehicle had under 120,000 miles at time of repair. The dealership told me the vehicle has to actually have the check engine light on for them to check for this issue. I had a Check Engine light and took it into the dealership. They told me to First replace the gas cap since it was old and worn out. So I went to my local AutoZone and purchased a new gas cap on and reset the code with my code reader. The check engine light stayed off for about 3 days. On the fourth day the check engine light was on again with vehicle startup. I took my vehicle back to the Chevy dealership and told them to look into this issue. Sure enough my vehicle had this issue with the part being stuck open (small evap leak) check engine light on. I never really noticed the car driving different or having starting issues. Needless to say my car had 117,600 miles on it so I made it in just the nick of time to pay nothing for the repair from the Chevy dealership. That doesn't happen very often on an older vehicle.
Is it normal for the solenoid to tick constantly? Or does it indicate any problem? I replaced a new valve and still ticking? Does this indicate a certain problem with the car? It all started when I filled up with gas.... and is it related to the gas cap?
Hi, very nice video I got 2016 3.5 and yesterday the RPM get down with vibration and check engine light on then it back to normal today So can you pls provide the name or link of this sensor
Hi Hello A very important question They changed spark plugs in my car and as soon as they started the car after the change I started making noises from the purge valve. I changed to a new one and I still have a ticking noise from the valve What could be the reason? What causes the valve to make noises Could it be that they changed spark plugs and didn't connect something? Because in the Impala, to replace the spark plugs, do you disassemble the intake manifold?
Hi. These solenoids do make a clicking sound That sound is the solenoid opening and closing. Check all the hoses that are attached to it. Most are plastic and can become brittle and crack. If it is bad chances are your check engine light will come on and a code will be stored in the computer.
Hate to complain, but this was like trying to watch a video taken during an earthquake! Small light-pucks could be used to shine a little light at the specific part being removed. Most of this was blocked out & shaky. There are magnetic-mount goosenecks that can hold a camera to keep your hands free.
Hi.Yes, the owner did say he would have trouble filling it up and starting after a fill up . On this car the solenoid diaphragm must have ruptured inside and it was constantly running and noisy, and set a code as well.
@@thedrivewaygreasemonkey2347 thank you for replying! I have a '17 and last week after a fill up mine had an extended start but did not throw a code. It did the same yesterday and then threw a P0442. The fuel cap does not appear to have a faulty seal but I ordered one anyway. If this does not remedy, after seeing several of these posts, I will try this valve as it appears it's a common failure on this engine.
It may very well be the purge solenoid. Other things to check would be the plastic lines that attach to it and at the tank area. I find quite a few of these being bad on all types of cars and the problems will range from a bad valves, hairline cracks in the plastic evap line, worn seal inside the evap line connector to mice or rats chewing a hole in the plastic lines or wiring to it. Worse case scenario you may need to have a smoke test done on the system as some leaks are so small they would be impossible to find without one. Also check to see if the valve is actually getting power as well, normally you will hear it clicking when its active. Hope this helps you out.
Hi Stanley. I can't recall doing a tune up on one of these yet but if my memory serves me correctly you should be able to get everything out of the rear without removing the intake plenum.
@@10thGOB It may be. Just me personally, if there is something that I feel is going to be in the way I move it. I don't like to risk breaking something. Some people may say differently. Thank you very Much!!! I just changed mine on my lunch break in the warehouse, thanks to this video!! 🙌

Does this solenoid causes the engine to make a fast sounding clicking noise?
Yes
Just what i needed, thanks!

What were the signs of a bad purge valve?
Thank you sir. Very do-able.

@@ntimid8r7 did it fix the problem?
@@kinggage replacing the purge valve did and only took a few minutes if that to change and that was including taking the engine cover off.
How would you recommend changing those rear plugs. Thanks. Hopefully you see this...

Is it best to do it with the purge off?
