Hi all welcome back to another video Dereck Reacts back at it again! This time around we take a look at another PATREON request with a Johnny Hallyday reaction "Quelque chose de Tennessee." This 1985 song shows so much emotions, and heart. It's a heartfelt deep song about Tennessee Williams.

The narrator at the very beginning is actress Nathalie Baye who was his life partner, back then. Together they had a daughter, actress Laura Smet (Smet is Johnny's real last name__his full name was Jean-Philippe Smet, actually).
Jean Jacques Goldman wrote Johnny a song for his daughter, called Laura"
You know Nathalie Baye if you've seen Steven Spielberg's "Catch me if you can", she is Leonardo DiCaprio's french mother.
Yesterday, i said goodbye to my uncle, Johnny was his favorite singer. Coincidence, this song closed his funeral, in a great emotion. Rip tonton Éric rip johnny and thank you dereck !!!
A comeback song for Johnny Halliday. He was a lifelong friend of France Gall. She is singing in the choir alongside Michel Berger.
France Gall is gorgeous.
For JH funerals his coffen descending the champs Élysée and at the tv they just played this song … it was incredible
A Good one , " j'oublierai ton nom " is very good too
Tennessee refers to Tennessee Williams, one of the greatest if not the greatest American drama writer. If any doubt, you can see his name on the coffin put into the ground in the video.
One the side, although you should normally be right with your pronunciation of Baye, it happens the final, muted “e” turns the sound into the English “by” 😂 Sorry, that’s french 😂🤣😂
You know Nathalie Baye if you've seen Steven Spielberg's "Catch me if you can", she is Leonardo DiCaprio's french mother. N Baye is also the mother of Johnny's daughter Laura.
one of the best song !
Something about Tennessee? At last! I'm not alone as an English speaker who loves French music. Just subscribed. 🤣 Love from Glasgow Scotland UK 🇬🇧🇺🇸
*Dereck,*
In the first images of the clip, I almost have the impression of seeing my father (charism, gesture and hard face, my father impressed all my friends without exception, lol) in his forties (he died in 2014 at 72, he was a year older than Johnny). So naturally, this clip always stirs me a little and sends me back a certain nostalgia, not to say a certain melancholy of those years lost forever.
I appreciate the voice of *Nathalie Baye* quoting *Tennessee Williams* at the very beginning of the song. Her warm voice is caressing and comforting. It fits the theme of the song perfectly.
Peace, folks.
I spent half my life following him on his tours. thank you Johnny for all these memories
J'lai loupé à Barcelone jmen mords les ....
Amazing song ! Michel Berger was very talented and he was able to enhance Johnny's voice and give it more softness and delicacy
Thanks a lot Dereck to react this beautiful song.
SOMETHING OF TENESSEE
"To you weak and wonderful men
Who puts so much grace in withdrawing you from the game
It takes a hand on your shoulder
Pushes you towards life, this tender and light hand"
We all have something in us from Tennessee
This desire to prolong the night
This mad desire to live another life
This dream in us with his own words
Something from Tennessee
This force that pushes us towards infinity
There is little love with so much desire
So little love with so much noise
Something in us from Tennessee
So lived Tennessee
The heart in fever and the body demolished
With this tremendous desire for life
This dream in us was his own cry
Something from Tennessee
Like a star that goes out in the night
At a time when others love each other madly
Without a shout and without a sound
Without a single love, without a single friend
So Gone Tennessee
At certain hours of the night
When the heart of the city fell asleep
It floats a feeling like a desire
This dream in us, with its own words
Something from Tennessee
Something from Tennessee
There's something in us from Tennessee
There's something in us from Tennessee
Oh something from Tennessee
Oh something from Tennessee
Something from Tennessee
The Boss is back ! Et c'est très bien.
Eternel Johnny Hallyday ❤️
Merci dereck
One of my favorite of him. 👍👍
Magnifique chanson paroles et musique Michel BERGER ... ❤
The lady voice narrating at the beginning is famous french actress Nathalie Baye (Johnny’s wife at the time)
She acted in some Hollywood movies I think
And she recites the last word from Margaret in "Cat on a Hot Tin Roof", written by Tennessee Williams.
Yes she was in "Catch me if you can" with Leonardo Di Caprio (she was his mom in the movie)
Oh my Johnny ( 1943-2017 ) beloved and raised to French ICON in a very intimate song written and composed by the sweet, successfull and gentle Michel Berger very full of talents. 1947-1992. He's gone too earl to the WHITE PARADIES....
In the intro we can hear speaking Nathalie Baye ( a French actress ) who was married with Johnny Hallyday in the mid-eighties.
Johnny est éternel ! ❤❤
A beauty… 👍🤞
I've been waiting for your reaction to this song, I was sure you'll love it 😀
in the introduction, is Nathalie Baye, de ancient wife of Johnny in 1985
Hi Dereck! Thanks for your react on Johnny Hallyday. It's been a while and we missed Johnny especially his wonderful songs like this one.❤
This song "Quelque Chose De Tennessee" (Something Of Tennessee) was released in October 1985 as the third single from his 34th studio album "Rock'N Roll Attitude" and ranked no.10 in the TOP 50, becoming one of the greatest successes in its interpreter, but also a flagship title that has almost never left its singing tour since its creation.
The title pays tribute to Tennessee Williams, famous American playwright author of the play "Un Tramway Nommé Désir": A Streetcar Named Desire, original American title
It will sell more than 250,000 copies in France, where it is certified silver disc.
The female voice you hear in the introduction is that of Nathalie Baye, Johnny's wife at that time but also a famous and very popular actress with whom he had his first daughter Laura Smet (born November 15, 1983 and SCORPIO like you! 😉😁She has since become an actress recognized like her mother) for whom Johnny will ask Jean-Jacques Goldman for the next album "Gang" to write a song for her, "Laura" which will be released as a single (45RPM and 3-track CD) on October 8, 1987 when he was performing at the Palais Omnisport of Paris-Bercy.
The music video is shot in black and white by Bernard Schmitt, director and childhood friend of Jean-Jacques Goldman, for whom he made a multitude of clips but also appearances in his friend's clips ("Pas Toi" in 1986 for example) and in that of Johnny "J'oublierai Ton Nom" in duet with the English female singer Carmel in 1986 and that of Vanessa Paradis "Marylin & John" in 1988.
If you like Johnny's songs in the 80's, I recommend Je T'Attends (1986), J'Oublierai Ton Nom in duet with Carmel (1986), Laura (1987) too which is a song dedicated to his daughter.
Thanks for your amazing job our Frenchie American crony. 👍🇫🇷
Info: for big fans of Johnny, a metal collector's box "Bercy" will be released on December 2 in a limited and numbered edition of 1,500 copies.
J'aime bien comment tu expliques, l'amie.
I appreciate your comments and even more
The woman's voice at the beginning of the song is that of the great French actress Nathalie Baye, who was Johnny Hallyday's companion during the 80s, and who also starred in the 1993 film "And The Band Played On". the role of Françoise Barré-Sinoussi (an eminent French immunologist and virologist, specialized in retroviruses, and who participated in the discovery of the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) at the origin of AIDS).
One of his best songs ever. Probably the one.
It's totally subjective, whichever way.
This Song talk about Tennesse Williams
Dereck.👍👍👍
Lyrics by Michel Berger

Le taulier.

Try this song live !!!
3:31 "Oh, you weak, beautiful people who give up with such grace. What you need is someone to take hold of you--gently, with love, and hand your life back to you, like something gold you let go of--and I can! I'm determined to do it--and nothing's more determined than a cat on a tin roof--is there?"
Tennessee Williams, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
I like you. From France.
Its Johnny Halliday dead in 2017

I love all songs of Johnny Hallyday. You should listen of him: "Le temps passe" feat Doc Gynéco, Bugsy and Passi. It's a beautiful song between rock and rap. Link here : ua-cam.com/video/mzSyc0ZNXG8/v-deo.html
😭😭😭😭
It's one of his best songs. The instrumental part is so beautiful.
If you wish to react to another one of his songs, "Ma religion dans son regard" is one of my favorite + re-suggesting his duet with Chimene Badi on "Je te promets" ;)
please please review this one.... from the movie Jean-Philippe... the highlight of the movie
Dereck you should watch the live version of Johnny Hallyday's "Que je t'aime" with the arrangements Michel Berger made for the live version of this song in the 80's, I'm sure you gonna love it, it improves the song so much : ua-cam.com/video/c_4TDfNaMe4/v-deo.html
What about " jeune homme " or " la fin du voyage " ?
la meilleure version est celle de 1969
the subtitles are unavailable, too bad I would have liked to read your opinion on one of my favorite songs.
Hi derek can you put the subtitle?
Hello dereck, please Can you react, Johnny Hallyday que je t'aime live Bercy and Zaz ,on ira..live exceptionnel thank you
Morissette's insane vocals is back on wish 107.5 again! wth her Gusto Ko Ng Bumitaw live! Next please, thank you soo much!link👇please🙏
