As Pierre said just before me, "Comme toi" is an awesome masterpiece, not only because the music is wonderful, but the lyrics, Dereck, the lyrics... It's about the comparison between two little girls. One is living nowadays and the other one didn't have this chance. As she was jewish, she lived and died in the nazi days. Extremely sad, but so beautiful !

Voilà..! Des Hits un côté très 80's et leur charme. Comme le veux la chaîne de Dereck. Pas des ballades génériques parce qu'on a passé des vacances dessus ou par nostalgie. Sinon moi aussi je ramène mes chanson de chiasse qui vont pas parler à grand monde. 😑 Il faut des titres iconiques. Surtout quand tu veux découvrir à des étrangers/américains qui ne comprendront ni les rimes ni la musicalité des paroles. il en faut plus.

@@michaelromeo9567 On ira n'est pas du tout une "ballade générique", au contraire, comme pour beaucoup d'autre chansons de JJG, elle parle de l'évasion, avec l'évocation des routes, des chemins à prendre. Alors certes, les accords et le tempo sont plus lent que certains de ses titres des années 80... Mais pas tous, prenez par exemple "filles faciles"; "Je ne vous parlerai pas d'elle"; "Qu'elle soit elle" etc. qui sont des titres des années 80. A ne rester que à des titres des années 80, les étrangers qui découvrent, comme vous dite, vont penser que Goldman n'était bon que dans cette période, alors qu'il a aussi été très actif dans les 90' et au début des 00'.

Et ça parlera d'autant moins à un public non francophone.
Même moi je la trouve un peu chiante. Alors imaginez les non français ou les fans des 80's et e la chaine. Si Berger Et Balavoine n'étaient pas mort je pense que Goldman n'aurait pas eu la carrière de compositeur qu'il a eu.
Je trouve même que OBispo (que tout le monde déteste) à fait beaucoup mieux.
Arrangements orchestrations Obispo à clairement un niveau au dessus. Quoi qu'on en dise.
Même si la ménagère de 50 ans adorait la période Fredericks Goldman & Jones.
Mais c'était déjà plus le Goldman d'avant.

Pour Obispo... mouais... je pense personnellement qu'il aurait du faire chanter ses chansons à d'autre car effectivement il a du talent, mais pas en interprétation (encore une fois, c'est personnel.).
Enfin, je doute qu'il y ait plus d'un million de ménagère de 50 ans en France... (car oui, FGJ et Rouge se sont vendus à plus d'un million d'exemplaire, ne vous en déplaise).
Tout ça pour dire que moi aussi, je préfère le jjg des années 80... Il est plus authentique. Mais celui des 90 et 00 n'est pas à blâmer non plus...

Ha apparemment, je l'ai bien vendue celle-ci (même si je ne suis certainement pas le seul à l'avoir proposée) ! :))) ...Merci Dereck ! Je savais que cette chanson te plairait vraiment. À cette époque précise, J.J.G. est à l'apogée de son talent. Sa voix a maturé et est vraiment magnifique, le son "Goldman" s'est enveloppé comme un bon vin qui sait vieillir et développe ses arômes avec le temps et nous offre enfin sa plénitude.
N.B. : I change my comment just to explain it: "Beauty" isn't a good translation. Indeed, "Belle" here, is a nickname which the character of the song has give to his girlfriend "Belle, ma belle, il n'y a que les routes qui sont belles". So in English it give: "Belle (with a capital "B" at the beginning, therefore.), my beauty", "there's only roads to be beautiful". ;)

JJ.Goldman est l'un des artistes préféré des français depuis plus de 30ans et ce n'est pas sans raison. Je suis plus que ravi de voir que son talent peu plaire même si l'on ne comprend pas le français. Cela prouve qu'il arrive à transmettre tout son talent et ses sentiments par la musique et que sa voix elle-même est un instrument unique. Merci pour cette superbe vidéo lui rendant honneur. Hi Dereck! Thanks for your react on Jean-Jacques Goldman. This song "On Ira" (We Will Go) released in November 1997 is the second single taken from his sixth album released in August 26, 1997.
The songs on this album are more acoustic and the album itself is more intimate than the previous ones. It deals with subjects like death or love.
I love the songs from Jean-Jacques Goldman but I prefer him in 80's cuz they are beautiful, dancy and catchy.
I recommend you " Long Is The Road (Américain)", the first song from Jean-Jacques to be ranked in Top 50 in 1984, no.6 and sold over 400'000 copies.
It's about "American Dream", there are a lot of words and sentences in English, the song has several tempos, Saxo and also gospel!

Hi Dereck. Just for you to understand what this guy represent for French people. Like you said he left the spotlight around f a decade ago. No new albums, no new song, no interview on the tv since that time. Maybe some songs written for some singers but not that I know so far. And still, we have a yearly anking about who's is the favorite famous French star for French people. If he is not number one, he is in top 3. endlessly..Despite the fact he vanished from all medias. Another thing, if you can get a good translation of his songs, you should pay attention to it, his lyrics are simple and yet very deep.

"Beauty" isn't a really good translation.
Indeed, "Belle" here, is a nickname which the character of the song has give to his girlfriend (it is perhaps even her real first name, because it exists) "Oh Belle, ma belle", "il n'y a que les routes qui sont belles".
You see, J.J. Goldman makes the distinction in the use of the word, in the first case, being a nickname the "B" of "Belle" is capitalized, but it loses its capital letter when it becomes a simple adjective right after. So in English it give: "Oh Belle (in French, no problem), my beauty", "there are only roads to be beautiful". Or as a last resort "There are only (or "just") roads that (or "which") are beautiful.
Beauty, it's no longer used at all in France to address a young woman. Because it's rather old-fashioned, cheesy and considered "macho" today. Strictly speaking, sometimes "My beauty" can be used to address a child (preferably our) or to our girlfriend in rare circumstances, but not the word "Beauty" by itself, or just to teasing, jocking. And I think it's the same in the USA. ;)
