When he passed away, he had a national funeral. 1M people showed up at the ceremony and 3 french presidents were in the audience. That man was a monument.
He was a legend.
When we see the such poor tribute paid to the 200th anniversary of the death of Napoleon, what a shame from our country...

This song was written and composed by Jean-Jacques Goldman. That's why it's so good! And Johnny is a great actor and performer.
It's actually Jean jacques Goldman who wrote/composed this masterpiece! this is the result when two genius work together!

Tellement!
Il aime lara Fabian aussi
Fun Fact : In 2005, he played his character for a alternate history movie. The plot was about : "What if Johnny Hallyday never existed?" A rock'n roll fan is the only man on earth to remember the songs of Johnny and will help him to become famous again. We are sure, here, that movie inspired Yesterday (2019)
*Music here! Reactions are good (but no so sincere, too much acting !) but playing music is better and more sincere with improvisation

Johnny is a legend, legends never die.
Jean-Jacques Goldman wrote that song for Johnny Hallyday in 1986! 👍🎸🎸🎸🎼🎸🎸🎼👍👍

Bercy 90 Diego
By listening to these songs you will realize that this great singer was capable of singing everything.
A unique voice, no equivalent.
Her voice has evolved over the years.
He has given many exceptional concerts, crazy entrances like at the Parc des Princes in 1993 where he enters from the back of the stadium and passes through the crowd 3 nights in a row (no one had done that before him) and he did it again in 2013 at Bercy, in 1998 he arrived by helicopter above the Stade de France, in 1984 at the Zénith he came out of a giant hand, in 2012 at the Stade de France he arrived in a giant ball etccccc. .
To date, he has sold more than 111 million albums in France and Belgium alone, which is huge!
It brought together several different generations. He brought together the rich, the less rich and the poor.
He has sung with major international stars.
He sang in several different languages.

Simply the boss. You love him, you hate him, but watch his stage performances and then you find out who Hallyday really is. Unforgettable
Magnifique et écrit par Goldman bien sur
Johnny Hallyday started his career in 1960 at the age of 17. He was a very big fan of American rock n'roll from which he adapted many songs in French (like many other singers of that time). He was a French superstar with a sixty-year career. He was a rocker like his friend Eddy Mitchell and his rival Dick Rivers (two other good singers). L'envie is one of my favourite song with Requiem pour un fou.
Johnny Is called "Le taulier", meaning "the boss", because he is considered as the boss of all the singers in France. He has been doing concerts for all his life, and he's the one who popularised Rock'n Roll and
Blues in France, for example. He's the singer of all the records number of concerts, of people going to the concerts, of sold records... He gave a free concert in front the Eiffel tower, he organised a huge road trip threw the road 66 with hundreds of Harleys, ending by a concert at Las Vegas, he arrived at concert at the top of Stade de France (Paris) by hélicopter... ... ...
In french "avoir la banane" (have banana) is an expression wanting to say have the smile. :)
Thank you so much.
the US had Elvis Presley "the king" ; France had Johnny Hallyday "le taulier" (the boss in slang).

Imagine if Elvis Presley would have lived and done live performances until his 70s, even weeks before his death of cancer. This was this guy.

Here's a translation for the lyrics:
L'envie
Let me have darkness and then broad daylight
Let me have hunger, thirst and then a feast
Let me get rid of what is secondary and pointless
So that life is worth living again, at last
Let me work hard so that I enjoy sleeping
Let me be cold so that I love a fire
So that I love my land, let me be exiled
And lock me up so that I can dream of women
Chorus
I was given too much before I had the urge
I forgot to dream and to say 'thanks'
All the things that are worth it
That give you an urge to live, and desire too,
And pleasure too
Let me have the urge, the desire to want
Let me rekindle my life
Let me have hatred so that I cherish love
Loneliness, too, so that I can love people
So that I can love silence, let me have speeches
And let me be poor to respect money
So that I am healthy, let me overcome disease
Let me have night time so that I love daylight
Let me have daylight so that I love night time
And to love today, forget about forever
Chorus (2)
Very good lyrics by the way.
This tune a top masterpiece.
Congratulations! This is an excellent translation.Thank you for taking the time.
Bravo pour cette traduction ! Congrats for this translation !
It looks like Dereck didn't know the meaning of the lyrics when he reacted to the song... that doesn't make sense.
Johnny la bête de scène, le taulier 🔥🔥🔥
Dereck, in the end you will become unbeatable about french music 😀 Johnny, you like it or not, it's personally not my favorite, but no one could ever deny his incredible voice and his amazing career for multiple decades. He was a beast on stage ! He unfortunaly passed away and got national funeral with a speech from the french President. Undoubtly a monument and a great loss for french music.
We all got some Johnny in us in France. He is a part of this country popular culture. A monument.
Yeah, that guy was someone you really wanted to experience the live performances from.
I like to see your reaction and your mind blowing then I say to myself "and you're just at the beginning of the song! nothing really happened yet!" lol
Goldman 's song+ Johnny's voice= BAAAM ! Shock in your heart !
Never been a big fan of Johnny, but can't deny that he was a national figure. And there's some songs I really love, like "Diego libre dans sa tête", "Les portes du pénitencier", "Que je t'aime"... Always been around, on tv, on radio etc.
Fun fact: my father went to the army with him in Germany!
C'est ma préférée de Johnny!!! Thank you very much dereck ! ! The monument finally ! !

Johnny is the only artist in the world to have performed 3 dates in Stade de France on the same tour, 3 times in his career. And in 2009 and 2012 he made it 3 consecutive days. He was 66 and 69 at the time.

At this live concert, Johnny Halliday was in his fif 11:57 ties and already ill with a cancer. And still very passionate and fighting tks to his love for music!
At this concert in 2003 Johnny was 60 years old and not fifty and did not have cancer!! Where do you get that from?! Anything...
N'importe quoi...
Basically you can see Johnny Hallyday as the French Elvis Presley 😁.
I will recommend his songs from the 60's such as "J'ai oublié de vivre" (which is one of my favorite song from him) l, "Retiens la nuit" or "Que je t'aime".
