Those are excellent numbers! Whatever Shiro is doing, the results speak for themselves. I love seeing M390 that starts to show it's potential. Great testing, thanks G!
Really good video G!!! It’s good to see that Shiro’s m390 is performing as it was intended!!! Thanks for all your testing and thanks for sharing brother!!!👊👊👊
Awesome. Finally starting to see more m390 do better. I'm curious how the m390 on my hinderer is, so far it seems decent but that's using the whole blade.
Thank you much, G. Well done, Shirogorov. I have only one Shiro. It's an F95, from the 2016 or 2017 production run. I really do love that thing. It's a great knife. It was made, just before the 'T' model first appeared. -While I have you here for a moment. The 'Working Edge' numbers for Roman's two Shard knives. Are still not on the Google Docs Data Sheet.- EDIT: I now see, that you have 2 green sections, on that portion of the 'Working Edge' Data Sheet. One at the top, and another one, way down at the bottom. You rascal! : - )
I wonder if the Shiro edge stability and stainlessness are also close to your Spyderco PM2 M390. A more precise HT, but lower rockwell, makes me wonder what else is being left on the table. I hope BBB shares some protocol info with Spyderco as he did with the 15V Spyderco had been testing. Hopefully someone out there will run some tests... *Cedric and Ada*
I'm on the fence and found your video, interesting for sure. U'll search your channel and see if you have an S30V for comparison. I'm trying to choose between a shiro hati s30v or a hati R m390. I hear that basically the s30v will dull faster, but it is easier to sharpen. I'm a free hand stone kinda guy, 400/1000 grit. Cheers
Do you have a write up on the method? -source of cardboard -edge finish/angle -how is sharpness measured at the start -how is the stopping point determined etc. .
I don't know enough about Shiro to know if this question is relevant or even possible to answer, but is it possible that these two Shiros are newer than the one Tom tested and that Shiro improved their process since then?
@@hydrostaticshock978 that it what has happened and I agree. I do want another example to test and see for myself. Maybe Kenny will send his Elmax F95 for me to test.

Thanks. Its on the way to you with some others to test.
Really enjoy these videos and appreciate all this data thank you for your service once again
You're welcome
Great results 👍 You go Shiro!

Shiro doing more than just great action and fit and finish. Good stuff.
All 3 I've tested so far have done well.
That's not bad at all. I have always wanted a Shirogorov. Thank you for another great test and video.
You're welcome
Good results . Interesting video,as always ! Thanks for for the extensive testing and for your time !👍👍
You're welcome and thank you.
Yeah I've had 5 shiros and I've noticed the newer ones (within 2 years) hold an edge a lot better.
Always first
You cheater!

@@SteveKluver I only sneak it in sometimes, lol.

I was hoping this wouldn't be another LionSteel caper... very impressive!
Thank you much, G.

I just added to the bottom after it was initially created. I couldn't figure out how to insert them in the middle so the bottom it was.

Damn good results!!!
I agree
I really want a Hati ON lite. My Shiro 95fnl is amazing
I do like it, the size just isn't for me.
@outpost76 how many times was the Hati R sharpened? I have the opportunity to buy it for a good price.
I'll have to look to be sure, at least 5 for this testing.
@@Outpost_76 thanks for the reply and great vids as always!
Well that's about the result M390 on the Lionsteel Shuffler got, right? ;-)

I'm sure that is a possibility. I do know the older Elmax and S90V perform very well. The Elmax Tom had did very close to this pair of M390.
It's a fact that older Shiro's had a different profile than they do today. The new profile does alot better.
Do we know if Tom's was a genuine Shiro? There's a ton of counterfeits out there .
As far as I know it was purchased through a dealer that sells them.
Obviously Shirogorov Elmax begs to be compared.
As soon as I can get some I'll test and compare. The one Tom did had very similar results to this M390.
@@Outpost_76 I figured the compositions are so close and Shirogorov's heat treat is on point so, in real usage, most couldn't tell the difference.
