This is consitent with my 2022 ID4 GTX with SW 3.2. Summer: always 175+ kwh/h if you start sub 15% soc and roughly 150-160 when temp is dropping in winter. From what I have seen it is the same for ID5 GTX. ID buss has higher charge speed due to other battery supplier. Battery pre-heat in next gen ID 4/5 will make winter/summer charge speed more consistent.
Bjorn, you should start a culinary guide for charging spots in Europe - what waffles, buns, sausages etc are great on which charging location. And maybe then add the info into Better Route Planner. You could become the Michelin of the electric age.
Bjørn never sleeps! 😀 Always working to test everything EV for us. IMO, the iD4 is plenty fast enough on 1000 km challenge for my road trips. However, faster charging and more range would provide more flexibility. With my Model Y, this allows stoping for a meal where there is no charging, and only charging at 15 min restroom stops. Nice to have, but not needed.
Check if the "Battery Care" Mode is active. Some say that it will not only affect the charging limit but also the maximum charging speed with a DC charger...
You should probably remove the "1st" in the table as that was used only for - literarily - the first batch, the first model to be ordered. I'm not even sure if "1st" was ever used for the GTX. The really interesting test will be with the ID.4/5 pro with the new APP550 motor in summer though, looking forward to it! And to see the new house at the end of the videos soon 🙂
the LED bar on garage looks awesome...we had a new bathroom installed in our house and the electrician put in four spots in the ceiling with high power LED spots and now I need to wear sunglasses in the bathroom.....actually I will have to change them too bright ...we only use the mirror back light all the time so I don't light blinded 😅
pre 2023 ID3 Pro S 77kwh also seems to have a battery with higher peak. In my case it reached 185kw at 19% SOC in summertime after longer trip on the autobahn
Do you know how much time you subtract on average during these tests due to broken/slow/occupied chargers? Although it is not the fault of the car it would give a good indication of the current EV charging experience
I wish there was some communication going on between charger and car that tells you in the car's display that the charger is being limited. Or at least some indication of what is limiting charging right now...
Next challenge is EV Charger maintenance otherwise the industry is going to be in trouble good for first ten years but after that you get kaput chargers lol
yeah... i get range anxiety not necessarily because of the range but because my journey ends up relying on some lonely single charging station... and if that one is broken you would be so screwed... if its in a town at least you could find someone to let you plug in... but if its on the high way the tow is the only option
Hi, havens got any feedback on my problem regarding charging speed on my gas compared to the numbers you get, do you have any tips on what could be the issue?
Hi, Björn, i have a ID.4 GTX that a took out in to trafic in August and I was on a round trip to Åre and I don't come even close to your charging speeds, at most I got up to 100kw for a short while then dropped down to 50-80kw I arrived at the charger with about 10% SOC. Is there ant problem with my car?
Hi Bjorn, I was wondering if you have planned a review of the 85 KWh/285 HP powertrain of the VAG products? Really interested in that performance. Thanks 👍
Hey Bjorn do you share your Car Scanner preset page? I cant find your standard one with Green text, theres one called Bjorn by default but it looks old, thanks
Long time VAG Car owner I've owned several cars from different brands of the group, every new gen I get shit gets worse. They need to step up their car electronic and MMI game, and need to step up fast. Next year I'm prolly going full electric and VAG Cars arent even on my list and it saddens me. They are on top of my list when going for IC in every price point.
Nice showing of the house. Now i do not watch too many of these videos lately. Odd reason. Long time ago switched camera angle to show only the hood of any car driven. Breaks the effect for me of driving an electric car. Far prefer an angle that shows the electric cars inside displays. Just a preference though. Big one for me though. Great videos other wise.
@@bjornnyland Okay, still looks too cold to me though, I'm a bit of a lighting nerd you see haha, and manufacturers often lie about the color temperature on the box compared to in reality, it can often vary quite a bit higher, wouldn't surprise me if it says 3200K or 3300K if you put a light meter on it. Anyways, love your videos and what you do!
Have you ever looked at the DC charging prices in the UK Bjorn? We're heading over from Germany in our Tesla at the weekend so was doing some planning. If we don't use the supercharger network we would end up paying almost 1 euro per kwh, which is ridiculous. I think it was between 70 and 90p per kwh.
Schweinsund 😁 yes, it’s sold a lot of schwein meat there, it’s not salad territory 😊. Of course there are a lot of caput chargers. We have after all got a lot of ineffective, unreliable wind power messing up the electricity grid.
As a German I feel obligated to be biased towards VW and I actually like the car's exterior very much, but the inside is (and that is my personal opinion) horrible and even in the video it sounds quite loud and the consumption is quite high IMHO! I was thinking about buying one, but for the money you get better cars. I decided to get the Ioniq 6 AWD and I couldn't be happier, but that is just me.
Hello, Can you please get your hands on a Dacia Spring! This is the cheapest EV in europe right now and it would be great to see it put through it's paces in your testing. Thank you Because soon Citroen eC3 will appear with similar prices and people must know which is better
Faster charging is important when. 1) you drive on a holiday or are going from Oslo to Bergen,Trondheim. 2) Taxi drivers. 3) You are not a good planner. .....And the result ...BIG battery degradation, much faster than normal. You losee a lot money if you want to sell it again.
Rented a GTX in March 2023 from Hertz, it felt like the first time I tried a tesla in 2013 or something with no experience. Battery was constantly cold, even when charging it seemed to go cold. The car was the first EV that totally felt like a boring ICE, i.e. just a car. I even had some phantom breaking and the car kept reading or having the speed limits wrong around "Mjøsen". Matrix lights were good, not great. Main problem was not using Tesla chargers (felt like an idiot because I had the chargeport on the wrong side) was an expensive nightmare. A lot of them were out of order and I was wading in snow to read a tiny note on each charger, charger apps said they were live. No wonder some people think EVs are a nightmare. I did like the intuitive LED strip that signaled when to turn in intersections and a heat hands and feet feature that sadly only worked for 2mins at a time....
This is not the "latest and greatest". The new one have more efficient motor, new inverter, better charging and active battery heating. Can't see why you bother doing this test only weeks before the "new one" is available...
The problem with the locks is a setting. I had the same with my ID4 GTX. Works fine now.
There is a setting where you can configure which doors will unlock with the key less entry. Probably this will solve the door issue.
I love how excited you are about your new home. I cant wait for you to be able to enjoy it. Well Deserved!

Yes, please! A better e-waffle planner !!
In the car menue you can select open driver door, front doors, all doors.😊
I had the same issue with ID4. As said above, the rear lock is indeed behind menu setting

I have my ID 4 GTX in battery care mode and I dont see any such impacts. It only resets to max 80% on next charging.
The trolling is top notch
Bjorn you've absolutely excelled yourself! this video is freakin hilarious 😂🤣😭😂

midpower leds are just fine inside a house
ID4 GTX battery minimun temperature should be around 30 celcius to achieve 175kW peak wave and 175kW peak only last to 20%.
ID 4/5 _/GTX have 3 Types Battery only one charges 180 kW but the others charges faster they stay longer on higher kW.
Especially the GTX has a different battery
pre 2023 ID3 Pro S 77kwh also seems to have a battery with higher peak.
In my case it reached 185kw at 19% SOC in summertime after longer trip on the autobahn

Remember that electric cars are far too complicated for Sun readers, having said that they would enjoy hanging around petrol stations……
Bjørn have you tried any of the new ID4/Enyaq with new motor and new software?
IIRC they are either not in production before next month or they haven't arrived to customers yet.
"they kick ass for the lord!" :D Peter would be proud!
16:50 2 NOK are 20 euro cent. not 2 :)
Setting for locks. You can choose to unlock only the driver door.
Single door open?
Press open twice instead?

Hi. Love your videos! Keep it up. One question, name of bt dongle and software in phone?
Hi, havens got any feedback on my problem regarding charging speed on my gas compared to the numbers you get, do you have any tips on what could be the issue?
16:51 20 euro cent*
Are you moving a little here and there when going to the house? If not, just a tip!
That house looks Great from the outside, like a mansion. "Lord Nyland" would sound good.
Nothing wrong with the door handles, just choose in the infotainment to unlock all doors at first unlock.

@Bjørn Nyland, I believe that 21" summertires in 0 C temp are not optimal for consumption. What do you think?
Time too do a xpeng G9 review?
Bjørn. Any chance that you'll be looking at the MG4 xpower?

Björn do you foresee when approx you will be able to get hold of the BYD Seal?
I am not going to do anything about that car until you have tested it!
You have to start calling the "gas station" an "energy station"! :)
Your led bar looks like 4000K, that's too cool imho, 2700K would be better
It's 3000 K. 4000 K would be much colder.

You brought the wrong salad, dude.

This is the LG-battery
The guy had his eyes on those waffles for himself 😁
VW GTX is a little bit disappointing. Consumption and charging was not
convincing at all. (at least for me)
are you going to upload a moving vlog?

You still need to do the test again with bmw ix3 LCI which have pre warming of the battery.

Good idea.
How long before The Sun becomes one of your sponsors?
Once they stop stealing other people's videos and stop spreading FUD about electric cars?

Most degradation comes from a combination of age * temperature * voltage. Not fast charging.
fast charging also important if you can't charge at home or work.
@@mrguldstrandAlso keeping the car at 100% for a while is really bad for the battery.
The consumption is much to high!
To where? To high or too high?
It was enough to watch a few mins to understand why I still feel Tesla being the best bang for the buck
Why do Norwegians keep their exterior lights on at night ? It’s a waste of energy, even it’s led light.
Renewable hydro power @ 0.002 euro cents pr kWh. Its basically free. And its dark here for 16-20 hours pr 24 hours in the winter.
And what about wild life ? Light pollution is a nightmare !
Because we're Taycan and not Taycan't.

😂😂
the VW software is so bad.
And also the navigator, is so far away from average to me!
The nav sats powered by google bit is not up todate with maps 😒
