      Yeah, isnt so big. But it will be only for one two night, just weekend. No for longer vacations witzh kids...for that there is cottages, hotels etc with hot water and toliet :-) But for shoert vacations kids in trunk bed, adults on roof tent or in normal ground tent, and benefits of V2L. I have loved my 2023 EV6 GT. Definitely considering updating to the new model in a year or so. We don’t have them yet here in the US, but should be getting them in the next month or two. They’re now going to be built domestically and include the NACS port.
    The charging speed advantage vs. the Model Y is huge. We have both cars. The Tesla reports better energy consumption, but side by side the two cars go nearly the exact same distance. Since putting 19” wheels on my GT the consumption has averaged 3.7mi/kWh over the last 40,000 miles. The Tesla has to ride the charging curve which means lots of shorter charging stops or fewer 40 minute stops if you want to charge up to around 90%. I can do the same charge in half the time in the EV6. The Kia rides more comfortably, much quieter, and on long trips the seats don’t kill my back and legs like the Tesla’s seats. The Tesla seats are too soft and squishy to provide decent support. I also don’t intend to support Tesla anymore due to Elon’s wild political views and also feeling like FSD is a straight scam.

    25c on the battery minimum temp is the magic number for full speed charging. If you precondition long enough to get the batt min to 25c, you'll get max charging speed from plug in until around 54% almost every time. Found this out on my EV6 during a 4,000 mile road trip last summer.

      @bjornnyland I guess that I didn't notice that. When i did the roadtrip it was 40-70 F outside when doing preconditioning, there must have been enough residual heat from the preconditioning process that the battery minimum temp was able to reach 25c before we arrived at the stations. Haven't had the chance to road trip it in colder weather to see the behavior. Thanks for the info!

    How is it for long trips in Europe compared to Tesla? Tesla does planning for the stops where as with other cars do we have to rely on ABRP for planning and there is no realistic updates on availability of chargers for these 3rd party.
    I tried once VW ID3 in Norway , had to rely on multiple apps to find out the nearest chargers and availability. Things could have changed now mean while

    • @ErikHenriksson_

      I regularly drive 1500km+ trips across Europe with a EV9 and I almost exclusively charge on Ionity because they are the cheapest and short distance from highway (especially on autobahn). My Tesla friends also mostly use Ionity nowadays because of the price. You also see Bjorn using Ionity a lot in these videos.
      The Kia cars support charging availability and planning for the major providers, including Ionity, EnBW, Fastned, Aral Pulse, Total24, Recharge, etc etc.

    Again another great video from your channel. Can i ask a quick question? Its regarding charging AC in winter time. Its unclear to me if eg with 11kw charging or even home outlet with 2,3kw, requires battery pre heating first? I know everybody talks about this for charging DC, but what about AC? Because if the battery is cold, i can imagine that with 11kw or 2.3kw, the battery first needs to warm up to reach eg 25degrees celcius. But if this is correct, then with AC how long will it take to heat the battery until the charge power of 11kw or 2.3kw truly gets into the battery? Hope you understand my question? Unfortunate nobody explains and talks about this for AC charging in winter.....

    • @grifon6156

      I have ev6 rwd. No need to warm up for AC charging no matter how cold is outside. Anyway, when AC charging, the charging power of 11kW does not "truly gets" into the battery. The efficiency of AC charging is (by my measurements and calculations) between 84 and 89% due to losses in the onboard charger.

    • @lucistnik
      @lucistnik 2 місяці тому

      @@grifon6156 EV6 will not heat battery during AC charging. EV6 will not heat battery during DC charging if the DC charger's max output is less than ~20 kW (don't yet know exactly). The current is lower in an 800-volt system. Charging losses are proportional to the charging current. The semiconductors needed for charging can be cheaper when the current is lower. On the downside, not all charging stations support an 800-volt system, and the car needs to have a converter to charge with a 400-volt charger

      7Wh/km in plus compared to model Y. Rain and cold, but still huge.
