Hey brother thanks for the video. I bought a 99 yukon for 600 bucks the truck is gorgeous but the previous owner said the dealership wants 1200 to fix the no start issue. They claim a short fried a few vital sensors. But with a little diagnosing I came to the conclusion that what is happening cannot be caused by anything other then a stupid kill switch. So the previous owner gave me a jem thats been parked for years replaced every sensor possible alternator wiring harness starter fuel pump and regulator plugs distributor mass air throttle position sensor idol air control motor oil pressure switch then a brand new motor by the looks of things. So he gave up after spending a fortune on this rig. I watched your video found the burn in the box beside the Ash tray just like you explained and soldered the board back to working order. Put the key in and vroom. No bull crap resister install fixed the right way easy simple. I owe you a beer for this video they should delete all the other videos and let everyone know this is the ownly and best fix to this nightmare of a problem. Thanks again. Fuckin eh.
Thank yall so much i did it myself replaced it and relearned it and she starts every time 99 Cadillac Escalade my board was burnt bad in the same spot as yours!. Video saved the day thank you so much i was getting ready to pay 150.00 for a fuel pressure regulator replacement. When she didnt start with the starting fluid i knew something wasnt right and seen your video. Again thanks
So, if your vehicle starts and then suddenly stalls seconds later, check your security light to see if it blinks (mine did 3 times) then stays on. If this happens, start your vehicle, when it stalls just leave your key forward, this could take ten minutes or so, but wait until your security light turns off. Then turn your key to the off position for 10 seconds, then start it. This will reset your VATS ( vehicle anti theft system ) to recognize your key again. Thiis was on my 99 suburban. Getting a new one made from the dealer would be a good idea once this happens. Hope this helps!
@@casanovataylor470 give it a try. I would imagine it would. I want to say mine stayed on after it blinked. But that was the issue. Security light stayed on. Just reset it how I said or you can unplug battery. Easier to do it by key though
just some advice from someone dealing with no start but cranking, i cleaned the terminals a bit but no luck. ive had my vehicle start and die immediately after, my friend unplugged my MAF and it held idle and was able to drive home. eventually replaced the MAF as it was throwing engine codes and i thought that was it, as it ran much better and the codes went away. then a month later it was starting to have more issues, every week or so it wouldnt start for a couple of days and then it would just magically work again. early on this didnt happen, but lately i had the security light come on and reset the alarm system which worked most of the time. got to a point where it was not starting for a whole week, resetting alarm did nothing. it had good fuel pressure so i decided to charge the battery since it seemed like it was cranking slow now... when i checked for corrosion on the terminals it didnt look bad until i got a good strong light on it and yep it was bad, these side post battery cables can be deceptive, mine was covered in shiny black material that looked to be conductive matierial, but it was just greasy corrosion. I spent about 20 minutes cleaning the terminals and cables and with a fully charged batter it fired right up, ran a bit rough (probably from me spraying it with carb cleaner) and now its been running good even cold starts she fires up GOOD. check your terminals before doing this!

Austin, not bad. Everyone else; as with any video, you learned how to replace a component. This should not be considered diagnostics. Before tearing up the dash and ripping at modules, I would far rather spend 125.00 to 150.00 for pinpoint diagnostics and repair of what is wrong, than start pulling an "autoreily"... tossing every part in the store at the problem. RESPECT THE DIAGNOSTICS.... and give the guy kudos for keeping the narration going, without dropping the cigarette. The internet is a great place to learn how to disassemble, BEFORE yanking and prying, but it is not a replacement for following a process of pinpointing the SOURCE of a problem. a Solid Theft light can be indicative of a number of things, and Austin demonstrated how to deal with one of them. Also, modules are getting rare, so board-level repairs are now becoming a specialty.
His video worked for me!! ASE certified tech was ready to rip off my intake to change the fuel pressure regulator swearing that was the problem. Thank God my Father taught me and im a lil car savy

At least I know I'm not alone, but I can conceive that so many people have the same problem and can do much about, We have been hijacked by GM. I have a few people looking for my TDM in various junkers and nothing available...My problem is a little harder cause is for a 99 Astro and there is no interchange.

I've looked at numerous videos on this and they haven't explained what was going on correctly. Your video has helped. If there is any way u can be of assistance or give me some advice on what to do I would greatly appreciate it. I really want to avoid going to the dealer and paying out the ass. You mean a free lunch. Yes, there are some shadetree things that can be done to disable a properly operating system. I believe they all require this module, as well as an intact coupler ( antenna coil ). The problem with bypassing, it can make diagnosing other car malfunctions far more difficult and expensive. Take good care of your car, and you will save in the long run.
I got a 98 Yukon, I believe the passlook has been bypassed. I never had a starting issue unless the fuel filter is clogged up. With a new a fuel filter, it starts up.
I have 98 cheverolet Suburban 4wd my truck is doing the same because the person had changed the steering wheel column and the ignition switch had went out I changed the key lock cylinder I order new ignition switch from eBay we put the ignition switch on did reprogram the truck still wouldn't still stay running and shuts off and dies and saw the security light flashes three times we put a new fuel filter and fuel pump and still did the same thing I took the cheverolet dealer and told that I got to replace the moduel so I went on eBay to order so this work I hope stays running with out any problems

My security light blinks when my door is open or when I start my Tahoe up but then it goes away that's supposed to happen right cuz I've been kind of worried cuz I know these newer vehicles will not start if the security goes bad to be honest with you I've always owned older vehicles so having a 02 Tahoe is kind of new to me and all these lights flashing and stuff make me nervous lol but they do go away once I start driving

Just wanted to let anyone looking know, my 04 cadillac cts 3.6 had a security lock up. I did the relearn (leave the key in the on position for 10 minutes). That worked so I drove it to the parts store, had it scanned, and then it locked up again. This time, no ,matter what I did, it would not do the relearn again. I was about to take a $1600 hit from cadillac so I said; let me try one more thing. CRC QD contact cleaner in the ignition lock cylinder and on the ecm connections ( I think it was the lock cylinder ) fired right up. Moral of the story; anyone with a 96up gm should have a can of contact cleaner in the trunk.

Had this same problem with 99 5.7 vortec. Mechanic friend suggested turning switch on and watch the security light until it quits flashing,turn key off for 15 seconds then start truck.if that dont work.do this procedure 3 times .started right up.dont waste money that dont need wasted.
You seem like a smart guy, I've been trying to narrow down my problem with my 2004 Chevy Suburban it's doing what you say intermittently, I can be driving down the road and all of a sudden it shows up, the anti-theft light that is along with airbag low battery and my fuel battery temp and oil gauge is all drop as well I lose control of my door panel switches to, would this be the same thing to you think and where would the module be located on my model if you know
Sounds like a ground. Get a pinout or look up remote start. And put a relay and toggle for starting with yellow and red wires+ from your starter. Dont worry about resistor crap. That's chevy crap on making money. I've owned a new chevy every year and the won't they won't admit it. Or just solder the wires in the ignition. That's the problem I found. Email me. Every chevy is different that can throw pass lock these idiots had a bad CPU for it.

I have a 99 it’s the older body style gmc 1500 5.7 light started coming on but I could turn truck off and start back up now the security light is flashing and truck cut to self back off tried the 10 minute re-set it will work but ends up doing the same thing again! What do I need to replace

you disconnect the negative battery post to the vehicle, when you're done doing that, you go back into the vehicle and turn on the ignition key (But don't start the engine)and reconnect the battery post. ... This is the only way that I disabled the alarm and start my Chevy S10 1998.
The same thing is happening to my 99 GMC Sonoma security light came on on impact in a mudhole goes of for a second then kicks back on when turns over and the injectors shut off any ideas

Hey guys looks like I’m having same issue on my 99 K1500. We looked at the board and it appeared ok. Plugged it back in and unplugged all the other electrical/fuel connections under hood. Truck came on several times. Then we went to put the dash and everything back together and it went back to the original problem. I’m thinking of just replacing the security board. Hi dude. I'm in the UK and have the astro starcraft. It's 2001 and won't start. I've found the BCM but can't locate the module you have in this video. Does this mean the BCM is instead of the module you talk about. Security light is on solid. Never goes off. Van will not start despite parts being replaced and relearn process being done so many times. Any help would be appreciated 🙏. This is the first astro I've come across.

Mine is similar, 99 GMC Suburban 5.7L C1500, but only Cranks but won't start. The Security light is solid. I have replaced many parts and check and check but no luck. I am wondering if this might be it but didn't see anything burned in the box. The Viper alarm works but the remote start doesn't.
@@rodneymuse5716 The kill switch checked, correct? Yesterday, I downloaded the Viper Alarm installation manual and hopefully I can learn a bit and disconnect the whole system in the meantime... Got to learn it first because I am not an expert on that area. But that solid light got to be the cue, there is nothing else out of the normal on the tests... Thanks for your input. BTW, did you figured out your truck? i saw yesterday that when the security light act funny it has to do with GM security system (VATS, KEY SWITCH CYLINDER...).

I’m having the problem where I try and start the truck but I hear the starter engagge then everything shuts off and I hear a click coming from the dash like an alarm system this started happening after I tried to swap the module
also check the ecm1 fuse in the fuse box under the hood. run a jumper cable from the battery to it and give it power. if the truck starts, its probably your ignition switch.

Ok so I have a chevy Tahoe 2003 . Starter went out so i changed the starter. The anti theft wasn't letting me start my car still so I tried taking the aftermarket alarm out. And my anti theft light is still on solid. And I've gotten new batteries a new alternator a new starter and a new ignition and my anti theft light is still on and still won't let me start my truck I've been stuck n broke down since Christmas Eve.

Rick M I have the same car cavalier 98 and the same problem I lost the keys The mechanic change the computer ,and the ignition switch with two new keys and reprogrammed the computer and keys. It was very expensive, after two weeks the theft system light on and blinking and the car no started no running I took the machanic again and said He put the key whole day and try many times the reprogram the keys That is the three times cycle of ten minutes. put the key in the on position by 10 min (use the cell phone timer) and put it in off by 10 seconds. and then do it again. 10 min in on position (no started ) and then turn in back to the off position Do this three times and the car working again. Disconnect the battery by 10 min or 15 min before do that The car is working now but the theft system liight is on when the car is running. If you find the solution would you please sharing I do not know where is the module mention on the video) and thanks

Ok so I've got a escalde 99 an I've done everything I can think of to get this thing to start here are the things I've done already I've check for spark, clean plugs , got new distributor cap an rotor crank shaft sensor ,new coil pack, new ignition module, new tpi, new iac, new fuel pump relay new fuel pump , new filter , clean throttle body clean all electrical connections , maf sensor, the tank pressure sensor I've check the wires for bad areas I've replaced some dry or crack hoses all it does is acts like it starts then a second later dies now the truck hasn't left my yard in ten months except to be be moved around or just to start up an run for 20 mins before that it's never given me a problem other than a start replacement an a fuel pump a yr ago now it's acting like it's not getting fuel except to start then Immediately dies what do y'all think of this

Had the same problem. Just have a radio shop install a remote start module and it solves the problem.
Yup, I was about to put my Century on Craiglist until I thought of that. They sell a kit that bypasses anti-theft for $99 along with the remote.

I have 98 cheverolet Suburban 4wd my truck is doing the same because the person had changed the steering wheel column and the ignition switch had went out I changed the key lock cylinder I order new ignition switch from eBay we put the ignition switch on did reprogram the truck still wouldn't still stay running and shuts off and dies and saw the security light flashes three times we put a new fuel filter and fuel pump and still did the same thing I took the cheverolet dealer and told that I got to replace the moduel so I went on eBay to order so this work I hope stays running with out any problems

My security light blinks when my door is open or when I start my Tahoe up but then it goes away that's supposed to happen right cuz I've been kind of worried cuz I know these newer vehicles will not start if the security goes bad to be honest with you I've always owned older vehicles so having a 02 Tahoe is kind of new to me and all these lights flashing and stuff make me nervous lol but they do go away once I start driving

Just wanted to let anyone looking know, my 04 cadillac cts 3.6 had a security lock up. I did the relearn (leave the key in the on position for 10 minutes). That worked so I drove it to the parts store, had it scanned, and then it locked up again. This time, no ,matter what I did, it would not do the relearn again. I was about to take a $1600 hit from cadillac so I said; let me try one more thing. CRC QD contact cleaner in the ignition lock cylinder and on the ecm connections ( I think it was the lock cylinder ) fired right up. Moral of the story; anyone with a 96up gm should have a can of contact cleaner in the trunk.

With the truck running just unplug that box and bam it's fixed if your truck won't start you will need to program a key to the new box.

Had this same problem with 99 5.7 vortec. Mechanic friend suggested turning switch on and watch the security light until it quits flashing,turn key off for 15 seconds then start truck.if that dont work.do this procedure 3 times .started right up.dont waste money that dont need wasted.

You seem like a smart guy, I've been trying to narrow down my problem with my 2004 Chevy Suburban it's doing what you say intermittently, I can be driving down the road and all of a sudden it shows up, the anti-theft light that is along with airbag low battery and my fuel battery temp and oil gauge is all drop as well I lose control of my door panel switches to, would this be the same thing to you think and where would the module be located on my model if you know
Sounds like a ground. Get a pinout or look up remote start. And put a relay and toggle for starting with yellow and red wires+ from your starter. Dont worry about resistor crap. That's chevy crap on making money. I've owned a new chevy every year and the won't they won't admit it. Or just solder the wires in the ignition. That's the problem I found. Email me. Every chevy is different that can throw pass lock these idiots had a bad CPU for it.

Disconnect the positive terminal and wait 30 seconds. Reconnect. Resets the computer.

you disconnect the negative battery post to the vehicle, when you're done doing that, you go back into the vehicle and turn on the ignition key (But don't start the engine)and reconnect the battery post. ... This is the only way that I disabled the alarm and start my Chevy S10 1998.

Hey guys looks like I’m having same issue on my 99 K1500. We looked at the board and it appeared ok. Plugged it back in and unplugged all the other electrical/fuel connections under hood. Truck came on several times. Then we went to put the dash and everything back together and it went back to the original problem. I’m thinking of just replacing the security board. Did you all say you sell them? What’s your contact information?

Hi dude. I'm in the UK and have the astro starcraft. It's 2001 and won't start. I've found the BCM but can't locate the module you have in this video. Does this mean the BCM is instead of the module you talk about. Security light is on solid. Never goes off. Van will not start despite parts being replaced and relearn process being done so many times. Any help would be appreciated 🙏. This is the first astro I've come across.

Mine is similar, 99 GMC Suburban 5.7L C1500, but only Cranks but won't start. The Security light is solid. I have replaced many parts and check and check but no luck. I am wondering if this might be it but didn't see anything burned in the box. The Viper alarm works but the remote start doesn't.

@@rodneymuse5716 The kill switch checked, correct? Yesterday, I downloaded the Viper Alarm installation manual and hopefully I can learn a bit and disconnect the whole system in the meantime... Got to learn it first because I am not an expert on that area. But that solid light got to be the cue, there is nothing else out of the normal on the tests... Thanks for your input. BTW, did you figured out your truck? i saw yesterday that when the security light act funny it has to do with GM security system (VATS, KEY SWITCH CYLINDER...).

Everyone be careful with this the no start issue could also be in the ignition switch. The switch reads a signal as well.
also check the ecm1 fuse in the fuse box under the hood. run a jumper cable from the battery to it and give it power. if the truck starts, its probably your ignition switch.
I just replaced the ignition switch on my 1999 GMC 6.5 2500. Now 2 days later, I have a no start with the security light on again.

Ok so I have a chevy Tahoe 2003 . Starter went out so i changed the starter. The anti theft wasn't letting me start my car still so I tried taking the aftermarket alarm out. And my anti theft light is still on solid. And I've gotten new batteries a new alternator a new starter and a new ignition and my anti theft light is still on and still won't let me start my truck I've been stuck n broke down since Christmas Eve.

I have the same car cavalier 98 and the same problem I lost the keys The mechanic change the computer ,and the ignition switch with two new keys and reprogrammed the computer and keys. It was very expensive, after two weeks the theft system light on and blinking and the car no started no running I took the machanic again and said He put the key whole day and try many times the reprogram the keys That is the three times cycle of ten minutes. put the key in the on position by 10 min (use the cell phone timer) and put it in off by 10 seconds. and then do it again. 10 min in on position (no started ) and then turn in back to the off position Do this three times and the car working again. Disconnect the battery by 10 min or 15 min before do that
The car is working now but the theft system liight is on when the car is running. If you find the solution would you please sharing I do not know where is the module mention on the video) and thanks

I changed the key cylinder n got 2 new keys on my 2000 escalade security light kept giving me crap once changed ran perfect!
When u buy it comes with 2 keys if u buy from part store also its only about $50 cost me $42

Ok so I've got a escalde 99 an I've done everything I can think of to get this thing to start here are the things I've done already I've check for spark, clean plugs , got new distributor cap an rotor crank shaft sensor ,new coil pack, new ignition module, new tpi, new iac, new fuel pump relay new fuel pump , new filter , clean throttle body clean all electrical connections , maf sensor, the tank pressure sensor I've check the wires for bad areas I've replaced some dry or crack hoses all it does is acts like it starts then a second later dies now the truck hasn't left my yard in ten months except to be be moved around or just to start up an run for 20 mins before that it's never given me a problem other than a start replacement an a fuel pump a yr ago now it's acting like it's not getting fuel except to start then Immediately dies what do y'all think of this
