Boring out an engine will never cause it to overheat. I seriously believe it is the real old timers that started this. If the cooling system is not clogged, boring will not cause temperature problems. For the Cougar Paint, try a bottle of Lucas Slick Mist. It is like water and it goes on quickly. It gives a nice shine for little work.
