- You asked, I delivered! FINALLY, a Trans Am WS6 on the channel! This thing is so cool, so nostalgic, the right color and has the 6 speed manual to boot! What's not to love? Should we mod it or keep it stock? Let me know!

As a WS6 owner - This video makes me smile. Congrats on your purchase.
Appreciate you, man! I'm loving this car already.
Awesome! I was a 20yr old car salesman when these came out! 🤣 The first one we got in was black with t-tops! The boss took me for a ride and scared me half to death! 🤣 always been my dream car since then!
I have a 95 Trans Am LT1 5.7L. silver as well as a black 2001 and love both of them although the Built LT1 5.7L. is a lot more exciting to drive especially with all the extra Torque!!
Amazing car's for back in the day and still very loved by many!!
😂 gm crap
@@mickjames666 Still running and looks like a champ!
98-02 Trans AM WS6 has always been one of my favorite all times cars. It is on my bucket list to purchase next.
The rubber thing in the console goes on the top of the headlight motor. You can spin it by hand to manually open and close the headlights if they don’t open with the switch. Also, definitely hold onto it and mod it out. This would be a great car to hold into especially with having a back seat for the baby 🙌🏼
I have an all original 2002 WS6 that I bought brand new with only 19,000 miles on it. Congratulations on your purchase!
Man that's cool. Enjoy it!
Lucky man!
I think I put that many miles on my 2002 the first year I had it. Wish I still had that car, fing awesome fun to drive.
Dude I can't believe you found one that's not completely dogged out. You're the best automotive content creator in my books - you put in the work, you express your creativity through these cars. Keep it up!
Thanks! Will do!
I bought my 2001 Trans Am WS6 completely stock nothing done to it. I took a 4 hour ride one way to go get it. I didn't want someone's dogged out Trans Am. The second owner messaged me over a year ago trying to buy it back. I've been having it for over 10 years I paid $8000 for it
@@ChrisSullivan69 iloveyou
Pictures and videos do these cars no justice. Seeing a clean one in person is a work of art.
This. Looks absolutely diabolical in person even 20 years later
@ChrisSullivan69 02 WS6 was my dream car. I was too young in 98, 99, 00,01 to afford one but I was ready in 02. I had no clue you had to order one, thought you could just show up and buy one at a dealer. Fast forward a year and I couldn't find a low mile used 02 WS6. I wanted low miles, 1 owner, not violated WS6. I gave up hope after my dealer buddies said Goodluck it'll never happen and ordered an Azure Blue Mach 1. I couldn't afford an 04 Cobra, dealers were still asking 5k above MSRP and the used market didn't exist. My buddy called to tell me he used my "if you find one" deposit to bring in a used 02 WS6 - a whopping thousand bucks. I already dropped 5k on a dealer finding a 0 mile the Mach 1 in AB to buy and bring in. I was committed. But the WS6 was the same price with 4k miles as the new Mach 1 that was built and being delivered in a week. Being OCD, I couldn't bring myself to grab the WS6. The financing was 3% higher for being used. The Ford dealer finally called me to tell me my Mach 1 came in and was ready for pick up. I took my 02 Mineral Gray GT to the dealer to trade for my new Mach, after the 4hr drive I arrived, as I pulled in someone was driving a black 04 Cobra around the parking lot corner from the service bays to park out front. My heart was in my throat. I walked inside in a panic asking what the hell is that?! You told me you had no 03-04 Cobras, they aren't available used, I want THAT. They told me it just got traded that morning and it wasn't serviced or ready, I told them I don't care I'm not leaving unless I'm driving home with that Terminator.
After some tense negotiations, them being pissed I was backing out of my Mach 1 and threatening to leave my 500 non refundable deposit and having to cut me a check for the remaining 4500, I covered their shipping fee for the Mach 1 and left that afternoon in my 8k mile 04 Cobra. I've sold the car since, but in 2015 grabbed an 03 Cobra before the market exploded with a wild ownership history that I was totally unaware of, a pretty cool person bought the car brand new.
Still have the 03 Cobra, it's rough on the edges right now but next year it's due for a resto, once that is done, I'm ready to find a WS6. Want to swap cars? 🤣
Agree. I always thought Trans Ams of this era always looked way better than their Camaro counterparts.
It's literally my favorite modern car, there is nothing else like it design wise. You feel physically assaulted just being in it's presence. GM used to have creativity & balls.
@@michaelbonavita1800I like the trans ams but I went with a 02 ss maro 🙂↕️
found my 2002 WS6 about 10 years ago and paid $13,000 when it had less than 40k miles. today it has just over 60k miles and I'm watching the prices balloon online. wouldn't take less than $30k for it today but no plans to sell. love that car more than anything. still turns heads everywhere it goes.
As a 36 yr man I hate you right now lol My high-school hero car!!! I remeber the last yellow ws6 on the dealer floor. At a pontiac dealer man the good old days. Closest I ever got was a 98 camaro ss in high school. Loved it but ws6 holds a special place in me heart! Your the man 👌
The pace car edition?! 😂
I remember those and the ford GT both sitting at my local dealers forever. Those were both hard wells during period.
Im a Ford guy through and through but the WS6 was one of my favorite cars back in the day. Ive always wanted one, the t-tops are badass. You're channel keeps getting better and better!
Right on!
Same same here, but different.
I've always been a GM/Cadillac guy, but the terminator cobra was a work of art!
I've always wanted one but it's the absolute garbage of a job that gm does for the interior on those cars, it's so bad
@brianbird: I agree with you!!! Twice I went to the dealership back in that day intending to but a manual 6-speed
Trans-Am and decided against the purchase because the interior was so bad and inferior to the other competitor cars!!! I couldn’t bring myself to buy the car especially because of how shitty the seats & lack of support and the cheapness of the dash and console.
Happy New Year to you‼️
@@brianbird3756🎯
Ws6 is just one of those cars man.. just like the terminator. Definitely gotta give it the beans, engine, trans, suspension, brakes, interior and cosmetics. The whole package
Ws6’s are one of every mid 30’s car guys favorite car. So badass. Functional ram air! Go all out on this bad boy. Supercharge it with a nasty lopey cam.
H/C !!!!!!
Yes and no.
I'm more of a firehawk fan.
Supercharge it and run the whole 5 pds of boost 😂
@@GhettoizeStill get gapped bad by most of the modern shit.
@ what’s pds?
I would say hang on to it and mod it tastefully. There isn’t as much UA-cam content on ls1 ws6’s as something like c6 corvettes. You’d be giving us 4th gen owners a treat with this one. Maybe show us how to fit a true dual system that doesn’t rattle or scrape as much.😊 modding this car now in 2025 would be different from the car trends in the early 2000’s
My buddy in highschool had a white blue stripe anniversary edition gifted to him for his birthday... barely driven till the day..i bet less than 1000 km these cars are perfection
I own a 2002, WS6 and I love it they are such a classic and underrated. They need to put a WS6 in the next fast and the furious!
you finally broke 80k subs, congrats. Hopefully 100k is right around the corner.
I hope so! We growing baby! 💪
Hey Chris I'm a huge fan of your channel and absolutely love the 4th gen Camaros and trans am. Please don't sell this car and keep it for the long haul if not permanently. I think it would be cool to see you turn it into an autocross car or just a fun street car. Keep making the great videos man, you do awesome work!!!
pretty common for those to strip the gear in the head light motor. you can take it apart and flip the gear 180 degrees and put it back together and it should work. the boot in the center console goes over the headlight motor where you can turn it by hand to raise and lower the headlight
My man. Thanks for the tip!
I've had my torch red 98 WS6 for 20 years this month. Looking forward to another 20 years!
No freaking way… I’m super pumped for this series! And you got the fastest color! In my worthless opinion this car deserves the Sullivan package.
1. Fix what’s wrong.
2. Darth Vader Tint.
3. Stance (lower, wheels, tires).
4. Bolt-ons, cam.
5. Paint correction.
Couldn't agree more. Just "Do It!"
Those cars are already low enough, messing with the stance would just fuck it up. The factory wheels are perfect for this car, they are very wide. You don't know more then a GM engineer.
@@JangocatThank you for sharing your opinion.
me and my dad have been fixing his 2001 WS6 and in about 2 weeks it will finally be road ready, ive driven it a couple of times around the neighborhood, but i cant wait to take it on the street. This car single handedly sparked my interest for cars ever since he drove me to school in it all those years ago.
ws6 still one of the underrated beasts. big, loud, fast, easy to wrench on. and the seating position is just 🤌
98 Trans Am 6 speed owner here. The Trans Am lettering was solid color from the factory. It appears the driver side has a black decal applied on the top of the letters and your passenger side is a reproduction replacement.
That rubber boot is the cover that goes over the knob to manually raise the headlight. The Aux button on the Python remote, Press and hold it and it should pop the hatch. I have a '99' Trans Am A/T myself. Congrats on the find!
Remove for manual operation is for the headlights. It covers the manual screw.
Cam, heads, exhaust, bolt-ons, clutch, then detail!!!
The exact same thing I was going to say I did this and pushing 460 to the wheels
Hands down the best budget car you can find and run 10s
And 🤮
Still one of my favorite looking cars of all time! Absolutely loved my 02 WS6 TA! Wished I had never gotten rid of it but that happens when you start a family. I also had the privilege of driving a 97 Lingenfelter WS6 TA around for a while as well and it was a beast for its time. You can get the headrest covers with the fire chicken logo embroidered and they look very good. That plastic piece (Remove for manual operation) is the pop-up headlight motor cover. You remove them and turn a screw that will manually move the headlight.
Please keep it Chris! We all know how much you love these cars! And you seem to love this one sm, so just keep it and MOD IT!!!
Mike and Morgan Alsop’s WS6 from Bullrun is a perfect template. Slight suspension work, LS1 hot cam, tinted windows and clean up the wheels.
My first car was a 95 firebird too! Love them. Always wanted a 98-02 WS6. Still on the list.
God this is like a second Christmas! WS6 on the Chris Sullivan channel is going to magical.
These WS6 Trans Ams are badass. My uncle bought a brand new 02 WS6 exactly like the one you have.
I got a 2001 WS6 brand new after several years of saving up for it. It was great. One of the fastest cars around for that era, especially with simple heads, cam, and headers. Still has a timeless badass look that modern, soulless "corporate platform" cars just cannot match.
Couldn't agree more!
I vote hang onto it and mod it. That thing is CLEAN. Prime candidate to go all out with.
Super score on this thing! Mod it!! I just picked up a 2000 SS and doing all the things, best project I’ve had in a long time! DO IT!!!!
Had 2 LS1 Camaros in my youth. 41 now. Had a 98 Z28 6 speed, t tops and a 2002 Z28 , 6 speed. 02 was my favorite. It was black, hardtop, manual windows, manual seats, 6 speed.
Always wanted a silver SS 6 speed. Prices up, probably won't ever happen. By the time my kids are grown the prices will be even higher.
Chris! The more I watch your videos the more it makes me wonder, what do you do for a living?! You literally have every dream car , classic , modern, German and American muscle !! 💪🏽
WS6 TRANS AM... MMMmmm! Always loved these!!!
Chris, you have no idea how excited I am for this build! My first car in high school was a 1994 black V6 Firebird. She was slow but I loved her. 25 years later and I have owned fourth gen Firebirds continuously. I currently have four Firebirds, including a 1999 light pewter metallic WS6 TA and I am the original owner of a 2002 black Formula with 18,000 miles. Work your magic on this car, enjoy her, and keep it! Thank you! I and love these cars. I even have a Phoenix tattoo.
I bet you didn't think it was so slow in HS lol. I had a 95 v6 5spd Camaro in high school that had a ws6 ram Air hood. Thought it was the fastest car at that young age and always been into cars since.
@JDJD-mw9rr I thought she was beautiful! Now I have LS1 Firebirds.
@@michaelm3381 nice, I did make it to an LT1 Camaro. Got into German cars and now have a 550hp supercharged audi 3.0T. Would love a built or turbo LS at some point.
Nothing beats a WS6 that screams loud, so my vote is build it up! Hope that is the outlook but if not, ill continue watching either or!
My dream car as a teenager! Yes, please mod and lets enjoy the journey!
Go all out!! I have a 98 NBM Z28, and if I could go back and do it over, I would've waited for the 02 WS6. It's one of my favorite cars ever! So intimidating looking. The one car I would own in black! Looking very forward to seeing what you do to this beautiful beast!!
Now we have something worth watching on Sunday. Sully is about to make a TA pop, looking forward to it. Let's go!
that just makes me think of the godsmack singer 😆
Car has tons of potential and I really liked the vlog part with your history with owning f bodies. I also realized that we're probably very close in age but you seem to be doing very well for yourself. I think a video covering what you do for a living and how you got into that job field would be really cool. I'm sure there's a lot of people our age or younger watching these videos and looking up to you and could use some advice on how to get started in a better job field.
What a gem! This WS6 def deserves to be modded. I say a mild built is the choice.
Cant help but agree!
Cold air intake, long tubes, and a aftermarket exhaust, upgrade plugs/wires, port and polish the intake, and that's it! Maybe a tune after all that
Awesome car! I owned a 2002 WS6 TA. I ended up selling it and getting a 2015 Z/28. On the TA I had issues with the door panels cracking and the sail panel bubbling. Other than that the car was mint.
Man you have my literal dream car is there a platform other than UA-cam comments I could talk to you about ownership and things related to your car
Man it was so nostalgic watching this. Takes me right back to when these cars were king of the street from like 2005-2010.
First time viewer here. Clicked for the ws6. Really liked your style of video, Chris. You gained a sub
This is SO lining up to be a collab with Alex at Legit Street Cars. The WS6 is one of the favorite cars in his fleet. Do it.
And while they're at it, they could fix his Mercedes.
@boosted_red8294 the CL does need love!
Boom!! @@boosted_red8294
@ exactly.
Please don't. Alex has some cool cars but I can't stand the guy. You can definitely tell he was a mechanic and can't get out of that mindset of "well it works so it's good enough" whereas Chris goes through every single nut and bolt and makes sure the whole car both looks good and works good.
Got myself a WS6 last year too, just before winter. Basically just drove it home and now cant wait for the summer…
That piece in the arm rest that said remove for manual use is a plastic cap that covers the pop up headlight motors, you take that cap off and you can manually turn a knob/ dial and raise or lower the headlights if the motor goes bad
my 2002 WS6 is literally my favorite thing in my life. if my car and my girlfriend are drowning I save the car. can always get another girl. but prices on late model Firebirds are hockey-sticking and will soon make them a lot more difficult to find.
Mod mod mod! Do what makes you the better money but i personally have never seen an in depth mod list done to one of these so that would be super cool, just glad you got the ram air ws6🤘🏼
nice shed man! glad you didn't see any cops this time, for the list 43:42 missing 2 screw in the bumper would drive me nuts and you forgot the sun visor. nice score
Hell yea! Best build yet! Twin to my 02 WS.6!
Keep, Mod, and enjoy. Cant beat the sound of an LS1 cammed out.
Had a 2001 SS Camaro new! Same car basically. Love it!
You answered your own questions man, and like you said you have always wanted one like this. So clean it up, and mod it like you want to, hci, exhaust, lowered, 9”/12bolt and maybe even a drag pack set of wheels and tires. It’s just gonna make it more desirable especially because you are documenting it all people will see what you started with and how it’s not just a beat up car. My first f body was a 95 z28 we 6 speed swapped, I rebuilt the engine (at 19 years old) it was a basket case never ran right tune was never right leaked oil like crazy but hey I had fun with it lol. Do this one up it’s definitely a bucket list car for me and a lot of people they are still to damn cool. Can’t wait to watch the build
finally someone does a transam im here for it
A man of the people
Gm crap
Had a 98 ws6 for several years now absolutely love it
When Chris has a new video I like and watch immediately. I am very simple.
As many have said, its the cover for the headlight motor handle so you can manually crank open the headlights. Nice car :D😉
Dude hell yeah! Love me a WS6 can’t wait for this content!
Gm crap just like the crapo
Oh hell yes, looking forward to this one!!
MOD IT!! MOD IT!! MOD IT!!
Cam, Headers, Exhaust, Wheels, Suspension, & LED Head Lights. That car would be SO F’n HARD!
Pause
Needs heads and cam to be f’n hard…. Even then it’s not “fast”. My ls1 made 460/425 to the rear wheels. Now turbo 5.3 for real power
You need to start with a 9" and a drive shaft.
@ stock driveshaft has taken drag radial hit after drag radial hit on my car for 10k miles with 385whp 369 and then 460whp 425tq. It’s the rear end that will break first. My buddy runs his Camaro at 650whp, and 800whp with stock driveshaft. Both cars have moser rear ends.
Both 6 speed cars too
Living the dream and you have youth on your side. Don't forget to smell the roses every once on awhile. Congrats on your purchase.
Keep it and mod it Chris!!! You no you want to do it anyway. Let’s goooo!
The aluminum cover under the hood is for the Ram Air effect, that's why the hood has the big snorkel nose up front, any further back and the airflow passes over it. This creates positive air pressure in the intake chamber at speed and adds a few extra horsepower.
Yo what’s up Chris it would be dope if you showed us your process on picking which car to buy, negotiating with the seller and that transaction process maybe even the sale and buyer interactions. I think it would add another level of engagement for the audience and anyone who’s bought or sold knows it can be crazy
Love it !!! Just like you my first intro into the muscle car world was a 1995 Trans am! I regretted selling it back in 2002 untill I purchased my 2002 WS6 last year. After installing LT headers and camming her she’s much more fun 😎!!
wooooooh! youre the only car youtuber i watch now and this is exciting! i just bought my 2000 ws6 with a 6 speed. already planning a turbo build
Awesome! Thanks for watching
Supercharge it 😎
@@Thisappaintreal been on the fence about a procharger setup or turbo… I honestly just don’t like how the procharger is so hidden in the engine bay.
Turbochargers are more efficient than superchargers because they use exhaust energy that's normally lost. Superchargers add to the engine's load, which can hurt fuel economy. plus turbos on average can put out more power overall.
@@Bakedea87 real question, not being a dick but have you ever added a turbo to a car that didn’t come with it? It destroys the daily drivability of a car. If you put a blower on it you’ll never notice you have a power adder until you stomp the gas. Turbos cranked up sure make more power, but you put a blower on a V8 that already has great low end torque and you’re in for some fun. Both are awesome mods to even be considering. No hate
Congrats on reaching 80K Subs. I have a felling your channel will double in size by next Christmas. These car flips are awesome. I have basic knowledge when it comes to car repair and restoration. Your channel has taught me a lot. From a basic DIY car guy, to a master DIY car guy, Thanks!
100% mod it. Simple and clean like you normally do. Looking forward to this one!
I owned a 89 WS6 5.0 HO
5spd. That car was a blast to drive!! I could make a left at 70 and the car was on rails. Just an animal. For back then.
Gm crap
In my opinion the best 90’s muscle car. The WS6 is a work of art.
😂
Build it! Heads/Cam/Intake/Exhaust. Black CCW classics. Lower it. Nice dark tint. *Chef’s Kiss!
Definitely do all the popular ls1 bolt ons. I just bought a 6spd WS6 in black and would love to see how to install all the sweet bolt ons
That WS6 was a great find. I would definitely keep it because the value will go through the roof. A few engine mods and 20" wheels would set it to be menacing.
That’s car came from the factory with a hurst shifter the original shifter handle had the letter “H” on it and the wheels is from a 2002 which was the last year the 2001 had a 5 start look brother but still awesome find. I’m glad you doing one. I had a white 2001 WS6 when I was young sgt in the army and it was my pride and joy looking for one NOW as we speak
Very nice! I bought an 02 all original 2 years ago and love it. It's pewter only had 42k on it. I live in Colorado and it's a blast taking it on the twisting turning highways and mountain passes.
Ah that brings back some memories. I had a 1999 Black on Black one but was a auto. Did a few bolt-on's, regearing, 3600 stall and suspension upgrades and was a fun car at the drag strip and still being reliable enough for a daily driver back then. Highly recommend keeping it. They are hard to find.
I remember my mom's friend had one of these and they took me to Turning Stone Casino in Upstate NY for my birthday. Got to about 155 before the trunk fluttering got too annoying. Loved the car and always wondered what happened to it. The girl who owned it moved to Vegas for show work so who knows. R.I.P. Mom, you had some real rad friends!
1999 TA owner here!! First of all, what a beautiful car! Congrats on getting your hands on this beast.🤘🏼 You seem so happy with it. There’s not a lot of content for the Trans Ams so I’m excited to see what you do with it. I vote MODIFY IT!!! 💯 my boyfriend and I are both Trans Am owners and we were watching this video on TV while eating dinner like a couple of happy little kids😂🎉
@@melissarump7281 awesome! Glad you guys enjoyed the video. Stick around for the build!!

Nice Trans-Am and the red looks very good! Like the 6speed also!!!! Chris clean it up and mod it!!! Headers, nice cat-back lowering springs and wheels and drive it through July and then sell it in late August & September for a 8-10K profit!!!!!
Great video Brother!!!
Happy New Year to you and your wife & son!!!!
Cheers‼️🥂👍👊💪🇺🇸😎
Love these cars and excited to see more content with it! You’re one of my favorite channels! 🙌🏼
Appreciate that man!
That plastic cover in the center console belongs on the headlight motor where the manual crank is. Someone was having issue's with headlight already lol. Been there and done that. Pull the gear out of the headlight motor and just give it a 180 flip so the damaged teeth are on the opposite side of where it contacts and your good. You'll see what I mean when you get into it.
Some suggestions working on 4th gens over 10 years: rear axles pit and ruin bearings around 80 to 100k miles. G2 axles affordable replacement. Window regulator rivets loosten, (new rivets and some fiberglass) passenger side light motor connector might be melted, (bronze gears fix up and down) best to fish line new speaker wire and get rid of mosoon amp and monsoon style speakers, weld in sfc', (sfc's keep t tops tight and prevent leaks from age) pro 5.0 shifter. Remove coilpacks to change #8 spark plug. Looks like factory decarbon shocks. Tubular rear suspension is cheap and makes a big difference. Remote tune, back and forth tune files make a huge difference. 4th gens are light and fun! Enjoy!
All great tips. Thanks man!
As a 3rd gen IROC owner i Always loved this TA. To me its the best looking TA. The Ram Air is sweet!
Congratulations my man! Good grief that Red is SO PRETTY! She looks, sounds and drives like a dream! I also dream of one day getting to finally buy one of these for myself! Thanks for sharing this experience with us! 🎉🎉
Bruh, I did not see this coming.
I still look back at my WS6 after parking her.
Good stuff 👍
hard not to look back at it
Great Channel! Definitely Mod it 😃I had An all black 2002 Firehawk miss it with a passion👍🏼
Front end looks like a pissed off bulldog. I LOVE IT
Remove for manual operation is for the light. It’s got a dial basically that you can turn if the motor isn’t working properly. A tip i learned with my 95 firebird is that the gears for the headlights are plastic and will strip over time. The good news is that the motor only uses 50% of that gear to run so if you tear it down and flip the gear over you have a brand new 50% to use again.
I had a '95 Trans Am with the LT1 and a 6 speed. I had so much fun with that thing when it wasn't in the shop being repaired. I always lusted after the later model LS1 with the Ram air...
Man fbody Camaros mean so much to be as well Chris the car that started it all for me was my uncles 700hp 1993 Camaro Z28 in mystic teal metallic on nitrous. The car had long tubes, a built 383, a big cam, and was such a sick car it was what really got me into cars. Now it’s buried in his garage waiting for its turn to be fully restored
Can't wait to see more of this project! Back in the day, working in the pits at jiffy lube, my coworker had a 30th anniversary trans. I'm still wondering how he did that on our salary 😂
I have the exact same snowblower! You will love the EFI. Had mine 5 years and have never used the electric start. Starts first pull every time. No priming the engine. Congrats on the TA too.
Mod it bro! Heads, cam, exhaust, c6 zo6 wheels possibly, lower it, tint, black lower rear bumper , black sail, you know what to do! Great taste
You're killing me!!!! I NEVER should've sold my 1989 triple black TA with the 5.7!!! It was not the GTA either, previous owner ordered the "GT" with the 5.7. Loved that car! Now I have to buy a 2002 WS6 for my mid-life reasons!!! Excellent video sir! 🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁🏁
Thanks for watching!
