The Skull Man was not changed to Kamen Rider due to the character's scary appearance. It was changed due to the dark and morbid nature of the manga.
Today is the birthday of the legendary Shotaro Ishinomori, who created Kamen Rider, Gorenger, and many other tokusatsu heroes!

Fourze is my favorite rider. I do not understand why Fourze is so hated tho.
Gentarou wanted to befriend those people who needed help the most. Like Tomoko for example. She was mis understood nad thought no one liked her. But Gentarou helped her see that she could get friends.
As corny and cheesy as it sounds but I learned to value my friendships because of Gentarou. So I say to those who haven't watched Fourze yet...you should. I say it is the most awesome Kamen Rider season ever.
You just pretty much gave the reasons some people sadly hate it.
They don't want goofy things, friendship speeches, and/or high school drama. They want dark, strong, less wacky, and downright badass characters. :/ Like Tsukasa and the never touchable Tendou Souji. -.-
The darkest Fourze ever truly got was the gemini situation when Gentarou busted out all the sharp weapons and cut up the wrong person :( THAT was hard to watch...
But I, personally, enjoyed Gentaro and friends and pretty much all of Fourze, minus the above incident.
Lin2Waterfall Well I guess everyone's entitled to their own opinion. Besides...you think Decade nad Kavuto is dark...have you seen Gaim lately..
Lin2Waterfall I understand the general urge to keep Rider dark and gloomy, but I disagree with the opinion personally. Rider's evolved in the decades it's been on (and off) the air. Nothing wrong with that.
gentarou is definitely my favorite rider. drive is my favorite series over all, faiz has my favorite rider design, and gaim has my favorite story.
@@GeekCrashCourse Fourze was made light and hopeful in response to the Earthquake at the time.
In hindsight, Fourze really was a well executed fresh breath of air for both the premise and the series.
Kamen Rider Kabuto: God Speed Love is one of the few Kamen Rider Movies that won't spoil any plot from any of the series. It is an alternative storyline completely featuring Kabuto Riders.

OOO's gimmick has to be my favorite, it's just fun to see him play around with diffrent animal parts in every episode

The showa era riders have a consistent theme, usually a lone rider vs a larger evil organization.
The "good vs evil" theme in heisei riders, however, are not so clear cut, especially in Ryuuki where the villains are riders too. Then there's Faiz where both the heroes and villains can use the belt(s) to become rider(s). Ignoring Shadow Moon, Ryuuki starts the trend of evil riders (Ryuuga, Orga, Dark Kabuto, Nega den-O, etc).
This episode is now making me think about doing a show covering tokusatsu shows, like separate episodes for each kamen rider and super sentai series

Black RX is considered Showa even though the Hesei era started durring it's run.
Several movies happened between the eras but are not classified as either,
The difficulty rating on each episode tells you (out of 5) how much stuff we'll be covering and how complex that info might be. We've had shows everywhere from 1-to-the dreaded and long-thought-impossible 6.
More tidbits:
There's also the movie only Shin Kamen Rider. Sure, it's not a classic "Rider," but TOEI considers it as part of the franchise, with him being featured more and more in the cross-over movies.
Heisei riders are also the start of regularly using "ikemen" as the main protagonist with Joe Odagiri (Kuuga), Toshiki Kashu (Agito), Jun Kaname (G3), Hiro Mizushima (Kabuto), Takeru Satou (Den-O), Kouji Seto (Kiva), etc. Fans of J-Dorama and fangirls should be familiar with those names. :D
@darkmercado We weren't saying that RX was the first example, but that he's the best Showa example. If I wanted to say the first example, I'd have gone with Super-1 or Riderman's changing arms. Visible alteration to the costume with effects on the Rider's powers. There's also Ichigo and Nigo's "New" forms. But that's a whole other can of worms.

I wish it was mentioned that the hiatus between Black RX and Kuuga was due to Shotaro Ishinomori's passing.
I think u guys should also include a common elements of the fact the Riders n their enemies always share the same source of powers to always follow the theme of choices make the powers differ XD. U don't be good or evil because of your power but how u use them X3. Regardless thanks for talking about 1 of my favorite franchise! XD

I've seen most of the Heisei (pre-Neo-Heisei?) rider shows, save for Agito (waiting for a solid dub) and Blade (I have all of it, but have been busy with the show and other gigs), but when I was putting together the Top Five, I went with what I thought were the most easily accessible and impressive series for complete newcomers to the Rider franchise. -Michael

My favourite Kamen Rider series are Kuuga, Ryuki, Decade, Wizard, Ex Aid, Zero One and Saber. The new ones should have a story and character development

@samconley23 Nope, but there are subs readily available all over the internet. There were two American adaptations, but neither lived up to its original.

hold it, black rx wasnt the first rider to have form change. It was kamen rider stronger who was the first with charge up mode which only changed the crest on his chest and his horns

Toei doesn't sub or dub their shows. They get paid to license them to other people (well, only Sentai at the moment, but there was a recent US Kamen Rider adaptation).
Toy sales - especially for a series whose modern equivalents essentially exist as toy commercials - make money.
Also, television shows exist as a pretty package into which commercials are scheduled. For example, soap operas are called soap operas because they used to be "brought to you by" soap commercials.

Megamax is really good and features a lot of classic and modern Riders in one movie. My favorite Rider movie is Paradise Lost, which is a solid, stand-alone parallel universe flick. -Michael

MarvelandDC379 I can't disagree with that, both are great shows! I seem to be the only one that didn't find W that great. Just something about that combination of not many characters I particularly like and not liking the Sherlock Holmes style just turned me off. I tried to watch it, I just couldn't get into it.
Decade has not work for newcomers because you have to watch to show that came before it to understand.
They said Darkest of the Showa Era, but even then I'd probably go with X or Amazon in that case.
I love Kamen Rider Kiva and Kamen Rider Wizard.

I prefer the Showa era as the old school riders r more practical than the modern day riders. U guys r right about them riders from yr 2000 onwards all about making more merchandise n quick buck. Black n Black RX n kuuga n agito n fiaz n kabuto still my all time fav. Fouze n Giam n den o really have terrible mask design...Henshin!!

Some zodiarts, especially the lead ones are teachers and other high ranking members of the school's staff, led by the chairman and including the principal no less.

What did you think of The First?
Geek Crash Course What can you say about Kamen Rider Decade? It's one of the best shows I've watched (on UA-cam) however many experienced Kamen Rider Fans show hate and disgust on this series because of the alternating storyline and changing of the Original Hosts of the Rider's names (For example; In Kamen Rider Kuuga, the main character is Yuusuke Godai, who transforms into Kuuga while in Decade, in the world of Kuuga, the original name is changed to Yuusuke Onodera) Also the whole worlds are meant to be distorted in that way or having distorted plots and flows. Many Kamen Rider fans dislike this. But overall Decade is cool, he's the last rider who uses cards with Rider powers in it and he's my favourite Rider.
I'm also a Kamen Rider fan, specializing in 2000-2009 Riders and I am looking forward to Toei's latest and upcoming new Rider series Kamen Rider Drive, which has themes similar to Kamen Rider Accel. I don't like Fourze, and Den-O because of their design, especially Fourze which I don't like the Rocket-shaped head (kinda reminds me of a penis) and Gaim, which I don't like their fruit themed suits and plot.
If you haven’t yet, you should really give Gaim a chance. The plot is actually very good. Dark and almost philosophical. It’s written by Urobuchi Gen, who worked on anime like Fate/Zero and Madoka Magica. He’s an extremely talented writer that makes Gaim one of the best Kamen Riders in my opinion.
Maybe Kuuga's Kick is the strongest but that was the mistake of toei bcoz he's a loner in fight and One on One Blade is the King for real he can also stop time.
Sorry Guys, but I think you're kinda wrong.. Heisei from 1989 that's why Rx is half Showa and half Heisei. Yeah you're right 3 Card users are Blade, Ryuki and Decade and the great card user Rider is Blade b'coz of the Spade theme.
Oh bad thing you didn't include KR Blade as your fave Kamen Rider series, don't you know Kamen Rider Blade is d bst series, b'coz of the maturity of the best series and great stories and! Blade King Form is the strongest of all, Tnx for including Black as fave KR. :)

I've been enjoying Fourze just fine. Not my favorite Rider show, but I don't hate it with fire or anything. My only real complaint is the inconsistent depiction of the Fourze gear, but that's such a champion nit-pick that I won't bore you to death with it.

@DarthTyrionStrife Well that difficulty would probably be much lower if it didn't take into account the franchise's forty year history but, don't worry, I have yet to stumble onto a KR series that was unwatchable. You can work through it quickly enough.
The best movie IMO though is Kamen Rider W's movie, A to Z: The GaiaMemories of Fate....
kabuto can reverse time. OOO super tatoba is immune to time stops.
Isn't that how they get the major part of their mony back from creating these shows is through licensing deals and not from toys because the last time I bought a toy from any of these series I was 9 I'm 29 now. Ultraman zero movies are great but they show them free online so they couldn't broken box offices or doing great in DVD or Streamline sales if you can get it for free.
