Honestly, between Dob's orphan-made orphanage, Egbert's past and Merilwen's war crimes, I believe Corizon might be the holiest of them all :D
Lol he does have a habit of kicking people and animals to death
@@cf2878just people from what I remember, but he does have a habit of constantly shooting birds out of the sky
@@kamenraider1175specially seagulls
But hasn#t Egbert finished his atonement quest by proving that helping the Dragon was the right choice in the first place? So he's forgiven by his initial God, and also beloved by his new Deity. He's double-holy!
@shietar8067 Well, there is still a few things he's done, like y'know, hitting a philanthropic old man in the back of the head with the mace the man just gave him, proceeded by then tapping the man's unconscious body with said mace until he turned into a seal, and then keeping the seal with the old man's consciousness as a pet
The fact that the party, in all their various alignments, didn't hesitate at all to help Prudence destroy a village, is pretty heartwarming.
Warming in the sense of arson maybe.
Toad Howard, completely bug free.
Yea, because his diet consists on people 😂
It just croaks.
It just creaks.
The Fire Safety dimension is ruled over by the great and monsterous dire bear Smokey.
Good to know that Cthulu considers Merilwen's war crimes and Dob's orphanicide not evil behaviors
Because they aren't
I love how Banish is becoming more and more of a safety spell, it's beautiful.
The irony of the non-euclidean wickerman is that technically it could simply be a sphere.
Technically all geometry in the earth is non-euclidean.
@@satyavarma2449 Not with that attitude it aint.
@@satyavarma2449not necessarily. All geometry based on the Earth's surface is, but if you develop an artificially flat surface (not level to the Earth's surface but independently flat) and build up on that, then that structure is euclidean.
@@weneedaladder8384 to my understanding so long as its tethered to earth in some way its non-euclidean, but given magic they could have made a flat surface and levitated it
"we'll take it in cider" *Ellen trying to hide her laugh, Andy shaking his head*
'Abstaining is a vote for the wicker man' may well be the most apt thing I've ever heard and I will absolutely be quoting it from now on
This whole episode was the embodiment of pouring water on an oil fire; Chaos from start to finish, mostly self created. Just your standard edition of Oxventure.
Egbert voluntarially did spellcasting when unprompted and a class feature, Prudence was one of the main instigators of what was happening rather than a more passive role, Corazon was the only one doing three stooges shenanigans during the combat, what is happening here?
Dob's still acting like he has a death wish, the puns are still thick and fast, and it's still being derailed pretty much before the end of the introduction (though this time Johnny derailed themself, so that was impressive), so it's not like it's completely unrecognizable, but...
I feel like somewhere an apocalypse has started now the signs have been fulfilled. That said, Prudence has been primary instigator of the story before in some of the creepy eldritch story arcs (such as the Fishmas Carol and Rolling in the Deep) but tbh our cruel tyrant/overlord Jane just seems to be shy which is perfectly fine. My working theory is that Dob and Corazon used the disguise kit and disguise self to swap Egbert's and Corazon's players before the game without anyone noticing.
Dob not having a deathwish is inconceivable. Imagine him staying at the back of the party supporting with spells and bardic inspiration (then throw that out the window as I think his con mod is at least +4 and he is probably the tankiest member of the party with the exception of Merilwen (who has two bears of extra HP) and Corazon (who has uncanny dodge to double his effective HP against direct attacks). Puns and derailment are also just the constant of Geth more so than gravity. Don't forget Rust was also still the best rogue in this episode as no one even saw he was there.
Dob turning Celeste invisible and the resulting chaos made me blow an o-ring
In a few years, everyone's gonna be *so* confused by this comment (Ignoring those confused right now because they don't watch Mom Can't Cook. What are you all doing with your lives??)
@@mar_speedman Bruh, man needs to visit doctor, didn't you hear HE blew out his O RING, that means his ass needs a looking at, at the Hospital.
@@BlackMoonHowls No, pretty sure he meant he was amazed... Or something... DAMNIT, now I have to rewatch the podcast!
@@BlackMoonHowlshe's either in terrible agony or blessed ecstasy. It's definitely one of those two.
Talking about spreading chaos and Dob's like "Odd numbers will be even numbers. " That's like, a great example of chaos right there! :D
"Even numbers will be even *more* numbers!" got me good. Really twisted my melon there
I can't believe that both Luke and Andy didn't make any reference to "the beeeeeees!!!!!"
I was waiting for that the entire episode! Slightly disappointed, but the crow puns make up for it pretty well.
3:18 the camera slowly panning in on Dob after he tries to bare his soul is morely hilarious
Haha nice catch
I kinda feel sorry for Johnny now, they've basically asked this crew to create the same chaos that they bring anyway, but this time *on purpose* - from that point, it could only escalate:D
Can't wait to see how the Deadlands campaign turned out!
Eh. With an adventure hook of "convert a town to cthulhu and wreck it" I have zero sympathy on this occasion - They literally brought everything that happened in this adventure on themself.
...And also seemed to do more to derail the adventure than the party, somehow. "It's croaking. I mean creaking. Actually, no, it's croaking. Cthulhu's tentacle had a corrupting influence on it and the inn is now turning into a toad. You're in where the stomach will be so you probably want to get out of here."
I'm excited to see Andy DM. Him and Luke both had issues with Luke's DM style when he first started. (The old man kicking) and I'm hoping Andy returns the favor
@@Stephen-Fox That's not derailment. If anything, it's re-railment! The toad ended up being a vital part of the conversion process, so I would hardly call that derailing the session!
@@Stephen-Fox Interesting, I like it.
Surprised they didn't bring out the skeletons to wreck the place but instead took a hands on approach. Surprised but pleasantly entertained
I was half tempted to call for the skeletons from the audience
i imagine that the Skeletons have been discussing the merits of incorporating Non-Euclidean Geometry into future masonry projects
(& whether Serving Cthulhu could be Loopholed as being part of their Hammer Contract via Prudence).
But wait! If the skeletons always do a monkey's paw twist, they might have helped the village instead of sewing chaos.
Although, it would be fun to see Dob try to convince Cthulu that the skeletons helping this village was a form of chaos in of itself.
YEEES SOO EXCITED FOR THIS! We haven't had a Prudence-centred episode in so long!
I forget how much I enjoy these guys until I watch them. Their total lack of awareness of the rules makes this so much funnier.
I love that Johnny just didn't realize how they ruin things just by being. Just ask Egbert "Let's Blow Up the Very Person We're Trying to Protect" the Careless.
Also, the Demiplane of Fire Safety is now canon in my version of the D&D multiverse, drifting in the Ethereal Plane right next to the Demiplane of Lost Socks.
Probably the only reason the Demiplane of Lost Socks hasn't burned down.
Oh my god, it makes so much sense!
I was in the audience! We were all absolutely losing it! This session truly went bonkers and I was glad I was there to witness it all.
What did they edit out? I've always been curious about this.
@@marjoriejonsson7502 Nothing significant as far as I can tell, it was a month ago now though. A few flubs and pauses to think about things. Its only short by 15mins or so. The most notable is the crowd's voices, cause even I protested against letting Egbert blowing up the Toad Howard. The crowd is much louder irl.
What was the impression or voice Johnny gave the scarecrows? It got cut from the video on UA-cam. It just goes silent and it’s driving me mad not knowing.
That one guy in the audience laughing really loudly at the mating joke is my favourite character in this episode
1:07:16 Best part of the episode for me, Andy was on fire this session!
Egbert now follows “Le’Vash Toad”
3 years after I missed a chance to see Oxventure Live due to Covid and uni, I finally managed to make it to this one.
Even got to meet Johnny in person, which was incredible considering they’re the one who got me into D&D in the first place.
I theorized during Legacy of Dragons that Cthulhu was upset with Prudence and that's why she kept getting pulled away (obviously Jane has reasons, but there is no Jane in Geth...yet). A Squid Pro Quo implies that she has to fulfill her obligation that she has been lacking on for quite a while. I can't wait to see how she keeps him appeased and if they remember that Corazon looked upon some aspect of Cthulhu and is essentially mad.
Nah, Jane is eternal and omnipresent. She was there for the ascent of man from the primordial slime and will be there laughing along at the heat death of the universe. She probably visits Geth regularly (plot twist, she goes by Liliana there). I feel at this point it's worth noting the entire party not just Corazon could be conceived as mad by an impartial observer. Or Shattershield.
I mean if anything i thought Cthulu would be happy by Prudence getting merliywnn to do all of those war crimes XD than again noone likes it when their son or daughter hangs out with ugh Paladins XD
Corazon: *Turns into a crow and gets chased by scarecrows, then naruto runs away with Dob on his shoulders*
Yeah, his insanity checks out
I can't believe that no one asked if the scarecrows were walking at midnight.
Look, it was clearly a few hours before sunset. How else did they see La Vache Mauve?
@@mar_speedman Fair point.
Now that you mention it, Corazon did make a pretty mid crow.
@@Tabbyclaw Great, now I have to chant "Crowazon Crowazon Crowazon"
The Scarecrow Walks at Midnight.
Prudence is definitely pro squid
Daddy Cthulhu approves
Pro squid squad
I'm only at about 1:16:00 but the absence of scarecrow walks at night jokes must be remedied the next time the gang faces a bunch of cockney scarecrow monsters.
@@derschwartzadder YAS. I LOVED that video by the Acting Male.
This is sure to be an enjoyable 'Octoventure'!
Have inspiration!
To paraphrase Overly Sarcastic Productions: "You will note since we live on a globe, all of our geometry is noneuclidean... This is what happens when you don't have the constitution for math." 😂
Exactly what I was thinking throughout this whole video
Oh my word. I don't have favorites. But Ellen is my favorite. That innocent expression after saying "Crow-azon" was just. the. best. I appreciate all of you so much, you're awesome!
What a wild episode, that got so out of hand. And the Merilwen puns! Please, continue.
Continue?? Merilwen puns?? No! Please, stop!
I really appreciate that you are all willing to share these with those of us who are unable to attend the live show. Thanks so much again. Just like Prudence, I appreciate all of you. ❤
1:33:13 to slow motion Jane's face as she realizes
How did you know three weeks ago that that’s what I’d come here post-podcast looking for? :p
@@awmperry hilariously I didn't even remember I made this comment while I was listening to the podcast
I’d like to see the skeletons again I love the way Johnny does the voice of them
Just started Stop Hammer Time again today 😁
The fire safety dimension sounds so soothing. Best dimension, hands down. 10/10: Would get banished again.
The chair callback, brilliant, lol!! 😂
55:28
Egbert: Dragonborn Paladin & Sculptor of Cult Horrors.😂
Merlwyn the butcher couldn't think of something evil to do.
"Do you pay... do we get paid?" Yes, in the loot left behind by the toad, so aim for affluent sacrifices.
I was about to say, "how does Egbert not use this as a conversion opportunity", then I was like "well he's Egbert", but then he actually acknowledged it!
This brings a whole new meaning to “Mr. Toads Wild Ride “, doesn’t it.
Johnny's Witchfinder General joke is underrated. Beautiful drop.
Merilwen shouldn’t have to prove herself, see the meat grinder and moonbeam the surrendering Eggburts incident also every time she does the door thing as a cat.
Honestly, when they were doing that but, I literally yelled (in my car, knowing no one can hear me) “War crimes, Talk about the war crimes Merilwen
Exactly! Committing ANY amount of war-crimes is evil aligned. You can`t pick and choose, to say that "oh it was a war-crime, but it was against enemies and not friendlies, so it`s actually a neutral thing to do!"
IMO a war-crime is a war-crime for a reason! And thus evil.
@@openfly4u What War Crime? War Crimes are just what you can cover up in the public's eye. If they don't know, it NEVER happened.
@@openfly4u See the thing about the Geneva Convention, is there's no Geneva in Geth. What constitutes a war crime in Geth may be completely different. For all we know, killing fleeing/surrendering enemies could be fair game.
"What's the wisdom of a toad that used to be a pub?" This is the kind of content I'm here for!!! :D
I love how Prudence is the one getting consequences, while Egbert the paladin is just going around casually murdering people.
Gods in dnd lore are as powerful as how many followers they have. La Vauche Moeve has under 10 followers, so not much he can do lol
If the Oxventure campaign ever comes to an End and Prudence is the final boss, I would not be Mad
She only keeps them alive because she would get tired carrying all their blood around till she needed it later herself 😈
Thanks to Ellen, I've learned 3 new words today: Croak-ay, Crow-kay and Crokay.
we also learned Crow's have knees lol
this would be the perfect episode for Egbert to become a oath breaker paladin
Lucky for him that La Vache Mauve is such a pushover.
In my area this week, we've been getting rain off-and-on for almost 4 days continuously. Even though it's starting to rain again, I got a chance to stream an Oxventure live (miss a lot of these due to work) and laugh a lot while it rains. Y'all have kicked off my summer with the strangest, funniest, most convoluted chaos..., and I loved it! Thank you all so much. 🤗 Still looking forward to Andy's DM debut! Still subscribed.
love it how Johnny is able to just roll with everything that happens in this one. was interesting to see how they would go about destroying a town intentionally for once. amazing it see how chaotic it got and all without the aid of the skeletons.
Egbert trying to recruit followers for la vache mauve for years and managed only 2 (iirc), and yet the second he pretends to be chtulhu cultist he converted several people by accident just by making some horrible shapes 😂
Hope it went better than during the last live show. The last time someone scratched Prudence's back was with a knife.
Johnny refers to a Cow God as a pushover and nobody mentions "cow tipping?" I guess everyone was fully crow-centric lol
Ah I have missed these loveable murder hobos so much, what a perfectly chaotic session! And I cannot wait for the new Deadlands series!! That artwork reveal at the end is proper sick
They’re back yay!!!! Life is worth living again!
👀
Seriously, Dob and Corazon were just freaking perfect. OMG my face and stomach were both in pain from laughing so much and so hard.
Oceans are battlefields
Corazon turning into a crow and flailing instantly reminded me of the Dark Souls Take Me On meme. 😂
When Johnny said something about getting something done in a "swift manner" I absolutely thought Ellen would have caught that and made a pun about a bird house; since a swift's a bird, and manner = manor.
the crow-nies line is my favorite pun ever in any Oxventure ever.
Crows dont have knees....
Sure they do, they're just backwards.
@@thomaslane1547 The bend we see in a bird's leg may look like a knee bending backwards, but it's actually the ankle. They walk on their toes just like a T-Rex or other Bipedal creature, which is where the theory that all birds evolved from dinosaurs came from, well that and their hollow bones.
Oho! Turns out, crows _don't_ have knees.
I've had a very long day and this is exactly what I need right now. I have to wonder how much of this Johnny planned in advance and if they'd just planned to go with the flow. What with just rolling with the pub turning into a toad and then animal friendship happening especially. I love how into it the croquet manager is.
I'd already been laughing, but Corazon first clarifying that it was male octopuses that die after mating and not humans and then following that with a not-so-quiet "one day" absolutely sent me into hysterics.
I wish I could have a picture of the face I made at the scarecrows making their entrance. I did not see that coming at all.
Egbert should have an Oathbreaker arc after this conversion to Cthulu-ism! That would depend on him using written mechanics though...
I can't believe it took me this long to see this adventure. This was WILD!
Toadally rad! \m/(>.
This episode turned into pure chaos.
Thanks!
I found the Fire Safety Dimension to be oddly calming...I hope it comes back
lol I was saying the same thing, like we need a whole ASMR channel of Johnny calmly giving fire safety tips and cool octopus facts lol
1:19:00 Crowazon was the one I was waiting for
Loved the Fire Safety ASMR.
I genuinely just shouted out loud! so excited for more oxventure :D
It's official: our parents were right about D&D all along... and that just makes it all even funnier!
wat?
@@BlackMoonHowls I guess my joke fell flat. Oh well.
@@ryadinstormblessed8308 It's okay. I got it.
Cthulhu sounded less unknown comic horrorish than usual. I guess everyone has a bad day.
1:43:46 as someone who played an arcane trickster for two years before switching to a warlock... I felt that
So happy to watch a new oxventure! I hope one day it becomes an animated TV show, a comic series and a few movies 😂
I would fund that kickstarter, lol
1:33:22 Thanks Dob. Definitely worth it. 🤣
I have loved every session of oxventure but damnnnn this is probably my favourite so far ♡
I love how after all this time no one has any idea how much damage an unarmed strike does
Since it wasn't specified, I'm going to assume the tavern at the start was ironically named "The Old Toad".
Johnny: What do scarecrows sound like?
Me: Jon Pertwee
Really appreciate the Too Many Spirits reference from Johnny 😂
The OXventurers rolled so badly, but so did Johnny, and it worked anyway. 😂
When the scarecrows attacked I thought Green Geoffrey was responding to Cthulhu intruding on his turf.
Not enough weirdly human arms to be him.
The recording really doesn't do justice to the absolute sledgehammer of a joke that was Andy's "one day" comment. Being in the room for that was something to behold
It's good to have the oxventures back in action looking forward to the shenanigans you folks get up to with the new episodes and i'm looking forward to the next game you folks are playing and am exited to see Andy being the game-master/dungeon-master keep up the amazing work
I still adore how Luke and Jane truly understand each other's evil plans.
In my work chat when I mentioned dnd my coworkers posted a gif of you guys! Could not have been happier
That was absolutely brilliant!
I've been waiting for another Cthulhu/Eldritch episode, yay!
1:33:13 Dob's suggestion to us should become an official short, because I'd imagine y'all can get the viewing angle Oxtra had
54:00 "Claudia Winkleman = Chaos" is a bag on assesment.
I think it was a Traitors reference? With everyone turning on one another
@@TheYorkRose Ah probably. I took it more like "inciting chaos without even trying" sort.
1:39:47 But, that would be in-cider trading! (I know Ellen wanted to say this)
OSHA compliant non-Euclidian wicker man. Perfect.
Can someone make people fly? Yes, Dob, you have Thunder Wave.
Yessssss I'm so excited!! I saw this live. I can not wait to watch it again 🥰🥰
What voice did Johnny give the scarecrows, I’m just curious because it was edited from the episode
I've always said it takes a village to raze a village...
I am so happy to get my fix of Oxventure.
It was on this day Cathulhu realized that Prudence is only to be called upon when overkill is necessary.
The cider-making process - educational as well as entertaining!
Next session is converting a town to Lavash Mov to make up to him for this session
"I'm not going to message Prudence. I won't like the answer."
Its so wild to me that the guild is still convinced they're moral individuals

Ellen: “The only Mona I’ve ever met is a vampire.”
The only Mona I know is a semi-broke astrologist with a witch hat.
