I paused about 20 minutes in to come down here and check someone had mentioned it.

My brain: “So Eggburts movement speed?”
One of those funny timing things happened when they mention the train a train happening going through my town blowing it's whistle.
Me and my sister were in the audience, and we literally whispered the same thing to each other 😂

@@andrewbyrne2173 If people find your bear puns repulsive, they might just have the wrong polar-ity. That said, it's good to have puns that appeal to a wider audience. that way, no one will accuse you of panda-ing. Everything in moderation though or people will find them sun bearable.

A Japanese train got… sunk?… by a U.S. submarine during WWII (commanded by one of America’s surprisingly large number of WWII badasses who cheated on their eye exams to get into the military).

It didn't start as a family show of course, but after the orphans were creamed and used as mortar, only families are left to enjoy the show. 🤣 Puns for the kids, splatter-fest for the grown-ups.

my god. we've been in deadlands for so long I'd forgotten how insane and chaotic a normal oxventure is. They hadn't even left the starting tavern and i was already struggling to breath through the laughter.
Johnny many adventures ago when responding to Prudence's question about mortar 'It's orphans boss'. Johnny this adventure, 'I'm not prepared to immolate a boy'.... wonder what changed?
i think its because the orphans were "off screen" when it happened, so they didn't have to describe the process
EDIT: they said on their dead space stream that the kids were named after real kids they knew would be watching, and they didn't want to upset them

I've missed the puns. They're always punny (especially Ellen) but they really go into overdrive during D&D sessions.
Ghost called Olive.
Necrotic corpse called Popeye.
Behemoth monstrosity called Bluto.
I'm not sure I've ever seen so many facepalms from Johnny from just one session like this. I now really need to know just how derailed this one got compared to what Johnny had planned. I mean, I'm not at all surprised that it went to pure chaos since I'm used to them, particularly Dob, Egbert, and Corazon, just going with whatever pops in their heads first.
He's not facepalming so much as "donning his actor's persona/staying in character"

Ah the first Oxventure since they've all played Baldur's Gate 3 and now they're aware of mechanics.
It's in no small part due to the Oxventure, that I gave it a shot - one of the best decisions this year.
Never crossed my mind that BG3 might have taught them some things... excited for Egbert to use Divine Smite sometime soon!!

I went from not knowing a single thing about ttrpgs, to watching oxventure, playing divinity original sin 2, to taking an interest in the actual rules, and realising they never learned the rules 😭 except maybe Andy and Ellen
As a side thought, maybe using physical tokens to track inspiration wouldn't be a bad idea? Like you did with Bennies in Deadlands, because Ellen in particular seemed to forget she had it when she whiffed the roll to throw the rock.
With how off the walls this group gets, I wonder if they ditched the rule of inspiration being yes/no. With some of their hijinks and how frequently Johnny hands it out, they could do with banking them.
I have seen this episode in parts so don't trust my memory 100%, but wasn't that rock throw roll a Dex roll? Would've passed if she added 10 to it, as pass without trace was still active then.

Ah, hook horrors. My players started calling them "birdles" (bird-turtles), and it stuck so hard that name became canon for my setting.
Edit after video: Johnny's expressions are definitely the best this episode.
I like how when Mike says he rolled a natural one, Jane leans over to check if he really did. We all know that Mike would lie and say he rolled a one if he thought it would be funny.

Someone mentioned under a similar comment that these two were named after children in the audience. Killing unnamed NPCs off-screen was fine, but graphically describing the murder of two audience members may have upset them, so Johnny decided not to risk it.
@@torgranael That was a coincidence. Johnny almost certainly did not know that those specific kids were in the audience. Although, TBF, when you name an NPC with even a vaguely common human name, there is a probability that someone in the audience has that name...
@@andrewb1921 No, someone asked about that during their Halloween livestream and Johnny said that they’d been introduced to two kids before and decided to name the NPC’s after them. They said something along the lines of how they’d decided that while killing a bunch of unnamed and unseen orphans off screen was one thing, killing a child onscreen while their tiny namesake was probably in the audience was another.
