I love how Prudence was willing to save Merilwen from the eels, and that she was willing to sacrifice Egbert to do this.
Egbert was also willing to sacrifice Egbert, a true paladin/himbo

Dob praising Jonathan while drawing a pentagram is maybe one of the funniest moments in the series
For some reason, I really want to see Jonathan Bennett and Alfred Strangetide as NPCs in an adventure together.
I thought that too! They'd be such a cute adventuring duo.

There's so many little things I love about the OX crew. Andy's laugh, Ellen's facial expressions, Mike's "down for everything" attitude, Luke's hilarious social commentary, Janes blood thirsty murderous hunger, and last but not least Johnny's "just vibes".
Ellen's "I'm so sorry" followed immediately by Jane saying "No you're not" killed me 😂😂

Just imagine, they could have skipped the entire eel bit of the adventure if they just thought "Hey, since everyone believes there are eels in the lake, if we just reveal that there are no eels in the lake, then they could only conclude that Bennett must have destroyed all the eels in the lake, giving him credit."
I like the idea of The crew slowly building a lake dungeon
Which they then need to have an adventure through in order to get the “liquid investment”
If they do, get Luke to GM it, the other oxventures have to fetch all thier gold back.

I like to think that every body of water in the Lake District has had Dob deposit some of the party's funds. A diverse portfolio of investments, perhaps? Or maybe a substantial buying of "bunds" from the Federal Reservoir?

Man, Dob's had a rough day:
1st: Water boarding
2nd: Summons Skeletons only to be reminded of his failed wedding
3rd: Inadvertently causes massive deforestation
4th: Follows up the deforestation with accidental wildfires
5th: Reminded of that time he killed all those orphans by Merilwen
At least he got to help summon his second animal themed greater demon though
But he wiffed that with non-regulation candles too
I kind of think some of it is karma for all the times he's spent the guild's gold frivolously or tossed gold into a body of water or fell in "love" (let's admit it; it was just attraction) with people who clearly want him dead.
For the rest of my days, I'll be kept awake at night wondering if _"I lied about slaying the eels of the Lake District and need to fake some evidence"_ was the only excuse anyone needed to give.

The beautiful image of the guild at 42:23 fleeing Ardent Keep in panic, screaming, in the below formation, was a treat:
- Prudence lugging a bag full of angry, dying electric eels
- Egbert occasionally jolting with latent electricity, showing off his skeleton
- Corazon being chased by an angry fishmonger who's screaming 'Guards! Guards! There's a maritime pervert over here!'
- Merilwen, furious at the ecological devastation and mortified by the terrified gasping words of suffocating eels
- Dob, running away from Merilwen, dragging a confused Jonathan with him
Iike how it's a persuasion and not deception check when corazon says he's sexually attracted to eels
It doesn’t make sense to call for a deception check because that’s only for when you’re saying something not true.
Nothing against Johnny's DMing style, but the number of times they've had the party roll deception is in the low single digits at the absolute most. It's consistently persuasion at this table
I'm 41minutes in and this is the most insane and out of hand I've seen an adventure get. I absolutely love it
I love Ellen's non-verbal role playing. And Egbert being the party's designated pan sexual.

The use of a Charisma Persuasion check HEAVILY implies a lack of deception… you do you Corazón 😳
Johnny has never used deception rolls in all of Oxventure. It‘s driving me nuts sometimes… 😂

I like the implications that Marillwin has only seen 3 animals.
she used to only be able to transform into three animals, her ability to become any animal she's seen is fairly recent. since then she has turned into a few things besides the original three like a duck.
She used to limit herself beyond the actual rules. It's one of the things I love about them ribbing her with the Moon Beam spell.
She stepped up and quit handicapping the abilities that she gets from being a druid.
Though she generally restricts her wildshapes to a small number of creatures that she has props for even now.
Marillwen? Since when did a Wood Elf evolve into a Pokemon? Or is this a new Mystery Dungeon concept? (I know you mean Merilwen; the joke just popped into my head and I couldn't help but run with it.)

This has very big 'end of term' energy, after the relatively serious acting moments of Legacy of Dragons. They're really letting loose and going insane. I love it so much!!
The event this was at was a month before the start of Legacy, so I wonder if it was more a case of Johnny going "right, get it out your systems!"

I just realised if prudence is a werebear can’t she turn into a pure bear as well as a hybrid form, so they have two bears in the party, it can be the return of a bear stacked on a bear!
If prudence as a werebear “prue bear” bites bearilwen will bearilwen become a bear-bear 🤔

Very few werebeasts are able to master their transformations. And some of that requires an acceptance of the condition that alters their mindset.
It's something like 1% really. Though I would also point out that Johnny has said that the werebear stuff would only occur as plot demanded it.

Egbert interacting with La Vache Mauve was very sweet!
I love Johnny sort of checking with Dob about the order to look for a cave with the crystal what's-it, and then having the skeletons proceed to start destroying the Tangle. Even before Merilwyn mentioned that the spell was still active I was wondering if she was hearing them get hacked to bits.
I really, really should know better, but I was actually talking to the vid as if they could hear me and asking why the hell they did just kill the one what's-it instead of going through all the trouble of bringing in a 2nd one to fight with the 1st one.
Bringing up the orphans again is so good and I love how Johnny somehow managed to forget about that.

Lavash Mauve and "reveal myself to the boy" is now the funniest moment.
I swear this is probably the most chaotic episode yet. I know there's always chaos of some sort, but they really were in their element when it comes to chaos with this one. I adore Johnny's backstory about the origins of this Oxventure and of Jonathon Bennett.
Yesterday was a rough day at work and I'm not sure how tomorrow (Sunday) will go, so I very much needed the many laughs this gave me.
Think this might be the funniest oxventure and that’s saying a lot. These people were in their BAG
Poor merilwen she gets dunked on for being treasurer all first half then second half her one true passion gets chopped and burnt, then she sees a display of over excessive hunting, all done by her friend dob
I know it won’t happen but it would be interesting if all this in such short did create a fracture in their friendship which comes to a head later on
So much happened! I'll need to rewatch it immediately to fully process what happened.
This is why I'm glad the podcasts have caught up with the videos now, it means I can listen to this one again before the next video drops and make sure I didn't miss anything.
Seeing it live was even better. Of the three months available to choose from, I'm glad this is the one I attended. Even if it was initially for the exclusive pins

Btw: What are you guys gonna do with D&D now though. Especially with the Delay on the OGL 1.1 update (and thus not walked back, but delayed because they are gonna push it through, regardless of backlash)
I'm hoping they'll keep going and just keep doing what they've been doing. Johnny is already very flexible with the rules and such, and the whole group is very relaxed with how they play (which Is what I love about them anyway). From what I've seen online, a lot of people plan to keep playing as they are and if they need books or whatever, there's always piracy or just asking someone to send them pdfs of what they need.
The shots about his wedding were bad enough. Then the deforestation AND setting the whole thing ablaze.
Hell I don't even really believe that they fulfilled their terms of the bargain. When did they actually search exactly?
@@SolaScientia Very complicated issue. I mean this show predates the announcement but they were still using D&D Beyond at the time.
It's really just a matter of not adopting D&D One. Most actual plays might just not use any newer material.
Though they could still be vulnerable to legal disputes.
All campaigns are the intellectual property of Johnny. WotC can‘t do shit.
one of the great things about the oneshot nature of most oxventures is that now and then the gang end up doing something that doesn't quite make sense for any of their characters (like helping a student they've never met with some tasks that don't benefit them) and you just have to assume that each of them assumes one of the others is getting something out of this and that none of them will question it
I don't. They've certainly done a number of selfish things over the course of the campaign but I'd point out that the worst things they've ever done have been bungles and not acts of intention.
The orphanage and burning down a town or two were done by mistake (even if their consciences never really troubled them).
It's more of an any given Sunday thing whether they are feeling charitable or not. And Prudence is rarely allowed to act in character regardless.
Except in rare cases like ingredients for summoning a greater demon. Where she's essentially been allowed to murder/sacrifice someone offscreen.

In my part of Virginia, USA, today, it was 41F (approx. 5C), cloudy and windy. Made it feel like 33F (approx. 0.5C). Vodding this stream made forget about all of that and gave me one of the best laughs I've had all day! 😂
(1) I think Merilwen will give Dob a very stern talking-to about [ blank ]. (2) I think I've officially seen Corazon break several times. (3) I think we'll see Johnathon in a future Oxventure, maybe join the Oxventurers. (4) Multiple parts of this episode - I hope - will make the "best of" compilation video for this season.
