You need to see to make attacks of opportunity. - Standing up from prone costs half your movement, it's not a bonus action. - Someone please remind Mike he doesn't need to cast Cure Wounds to heal, he can Lay Hands to cure more HP more easily, he only needs to Cure Wounds once that runs out. - Prudence should have spider climbed at the end! But it wouldn't be Oxventure without playing fast and loose with the rules, just things to keep in mind!
My money is on: 5th: Egbert. Has high melee damage and the ability to close the distance with Misty Step, but since Mike is playing him he's going to favour riskier and funnier strategies like his bombs and using improvised weapons, the advantage of this strategy is that the others are going to underestimate him so he might be able to score at least one kill. 4th: Dob. Lower melee damage and limited spell range, but in a duel with Egbert, Dob might have an edge with his esoteric spell usage. 3rd: Merilwen. Strong damage across the board, decent mobility and a wide range of spells, but I suspect Wild Shape is going to make her one of the biggest targets because of the obviousness of how powerful she is. If the others underestimate her I could easily see Merilwen scoring the win. 2nd: Prudence. rudence has the highest damage potential and will most likely start out extremely aggressive. Like Merilwein, she needs to make sure she doesn't draw too much attention but if given the opportunity to cook, Hunger of Hadar and Summon Greater Demon and similar combined with the long range of Agonizing Blast + Eldritch Spear might give her the win. 1st: Corazon. Being a Rogue, numbers alone with Sneak Attack damage and his many ways of mitigating incoming attacks give him a massive edge. Since it's Corazon, my reckoning is that he'll remain hidden at the start of the fight and then move into a one on one duel towards the end. Corazon likes to favour showy performances so this risk might lose him the win if he doesn't play it safe early on.
@@smashbrandiscootch719 how are you this deep into the series if you care about that. like a big reason for a solid chunk of episodes ending the way they do is due to time and they make several impossible moves like on the daily.
No spoilers, but the ending is absolutely epic:D More spoilery bit below: It's a real shame we haven't seen Merilwen going full Neutral, I feel like, given the chance, Ellen would kicked their butts... Kudos to her adapting on a dime to the role of Fathomer though!
*Immediately goes to the comments to see if anyone else points out that Merilwyn shouldn’t have been able to dash out of the Hunger of Hadar because bonus action dash is only a rogues thing*
Johnny let multiple non-rogues get away with dash as a bonus action in this game. Between that and the BG3 shove, bonus actions are a bit unhinged now. But when have the Oxventurers ever cared about the rules, really? It's not what makes them entertaining (though my inner rules lawyer would be equally entertained by watching them have to abide by all the rules for once).
The part where Luke says my 4 orc hearts are exposed, and it cuts to Johnny with this 50yard stare where they are just trying to think about 4 hearts in an orc. Maybe they were thinking of space marines!
I lost it at Prudence's eyes going wide at Corazon's 20 damage to Merilwen. I was not expecting Dob straight out of the gate with Crown of Madness on Egbert. I'm starting to think, being just barely into the fight, that they maybe do know their characters well. ...I spoke too soon as soon as Mike interrupted with how he's reading it for the first time. Never mind about them knowing their characters all that well. I swore when Egbert rolled 6 on Merilwen. The imagery this one is creating is perfect. I love imagining them all spotting Corazon attempting to hide. I love everyone knowing the mechanics better just because of BG3. "Please, get wrecked" I love that line. Oh dang, I did not expect Merilwen to get taken out like that. Wow. I hadn't realized that no one damaged Prudence at all. I also love them all suddenly hiding how many hit points they have left. Corazon's speech had me wheezing. Then a murder-suicide attempt except Corazon betrays them is absolutely the most in-character thing for him and also seriously underhanded. I love it. Oh man, I did not expect that from Dob. This was an absolute blast.
@@goofyfurball7311 it's a fudge for sure, but I don't think "hide" necessarily has to mean ducking behind cover. It could mean something as simple as moving around in such a way as to cause opponents to underestimate you, effectively (even if not actually) blinding them to your position. The whole ruleset necessarily must be a bit fudgey in the first place or else it'd never cover all the situations it does with the kind of accessibility it has. Eh, I think for a game as unstrict a vibe as this one, that it's a fair compromise. Forgetting that cunning action's rogue-specific, however, is a bit more mistake than compromise, I think. Don't think that'd be deliberate, if they'd caught it. :) Not a complaint either way, just something I spotted and felt like saying.
i mean i don't disagree but.. so was Egbert who was slept and didn't have a chance to defend himself on the way down, and in a way Corazon as well because feather fall when active negates fall damage. The thing with PvP in DnD is that everyone has cheesy and broken things that can make even The toughest enemy die in humiliating ways its part of the fun.
@voidstar6353 and to add on if they were falling more than a minute he'd have a reaction again to reactivate it on top of fall damage almost certainly killing Dob flat out so his racial bonus wouldn't kick in
Can't believe no-one remembered the lore of dob cause he technically won, cause when he dies he comes back alive as an undead and has to walk up a mountain to a destroyed cabin and also the fish inside him would still be legal. God dob lore is so random
Also would Corazon feather fall do enough damage on landing to even take 1 point of damage off. Prudence also had many outs on her way down though must have been too shocked to work them out. x:x
Even feather fall lasts a minute. Technically Corazon wouldn’t even die. Heck with feather fall he also had plenty of time to drive his saber on the mountain side and hang on. I think they kinda wanted to go they all die route.
Listening to the podcast uploads of the old episodes at work. Tower Rangers Part 1: Dob: If Eggbert is dead we need recover the body to bury him in accordance with the wishes of Vache Mauve. Corazon: Throw him off a cliff?
It makes perfect sense Dob and Corazon went in on a protective pact. If they pass away how will their scrying orbcast about DCOMs continue? That is of course, the fairly popular Dunwich Channel Of Meats serials. Such gems as you lucky dog, and horse sense; both huge in the druid community. 😂
Completely unrelated: I just watched Andy’s Senu clip and years later it is still one of my favourite bits on any of your channels. “I can see people!!?!”. He should play the part again in a one off oxventure episode. “Bayek, I’m freakin out!”
@@davidkatz6197 To be fair, yeah, it is that. But it's funnier. Besides, Andy's build is the best or second best at pvp. He's one of the main damage dealer and best thing is, he has great luck. Look at Mike, his dice rolls is usually really bad. Even in this, it's bad.
I'm very confused on why they decided that Corazon would die from the fall too. Feather Fall lasts for 1 minute and makes you fall at a speed of 60 ft per round, and each round is only 6 seconds. Johnny said the fall was only 80 ft, so Feather Fall would have still been active when Corazon reached the ground, and with lots of time to spare.
Such a fun session but I do agree with Jane - not using mini's can seriously hamper AOE casters. Not being able to see when people are clustered/lined up and guessing at the distance between you and someone else makes it so much harder to use your spells efficiently
I was waiting for Prudence to angle herself back toward the mountain while falling and use Spider Climb to cling to the rock and scramble up to the top. Totally could have won it! Oh well. Gratz Corazon! And also JUSTICE FOR MERILWEN!
I always have a great time, but am always reminded that Corazon is using a newer subclass than the rest, and he's multi-classed into rogue twice so... /shrug/ Still, love to see these dorks have fun :)
I see this as Corazon’s win. Let’s be fair, even if he didn’t jump off with everyone, he was most likely to win. Because Dob was already in a bad way and prudence is kind of a glass cannon. Corazon also had loads of hit points left. Lots of defence with hiding and uncanny dodge and loads of attack with sneak attack.
I like that the framing is just vague enough that, depending on how the final season goes, this could potentially be interpreted as the true ending of the Oxventurer's Guild.
You are all fools Bismeth the crown from necropolis on Sea. Is gonna slide into the ring the last second and take the last person stand out. She is FEARED by dragons and GREAT Evils. Or the Great Wizard BINBAG just to annoy Corazon.
Honestly that was the perfect ending. Corazon pulling a total dick move just to have dob anti it and finished with a crazy ass elbow drop and a draw. I think that almost perfectly describes this party to a "T"
As someone who’s seen the Critical Role Battle Royales, 1) ganging up on the Druid is 100% the correct move, and 2) Oxventure plays dirty and I love it! I expected nothing less than for them to cheese every rule they could get away with, and I was not disappointed! (Except that Prudence was clearly thinking about using a fallen teammate’s blood to summon a demon, but never got the chance. Moment of silence for that potential extra level of chaos that never was.)
As the dust settles, the somewhat flattened corpse of a half-orc bard rises and begins to shuffle towards a distant mountain top.

- Hunger of Hadar is a sphere of blackness so nobody can see in or out (except maybe with Devil's Sight on a Warlock).
My money is on:
5th: Egbert.
If Egbert actually reads his character sheet he resists spell damage. So Mike actually reading is an X factor to consider.
Of all of them, Egbert is the biggest wild card for sure. If he reads his sheet I would maybe put him above Dob and possibly Merilwen.
@@Tickerbee ya Corazon is the damage threat for sure.
@@Tickerbee also Corazon has a shortbow he never uses as Ellen pointed out in the body swap episode.
This is true, but I don't think he'd use it. Not even because Andy would forget, but because it's not on-theme for a Swaahbuckler.
Oh gods, the unthinkable has happened! Egbert has realized he is a paladin and read the rules!
Just not the rules for his actual character.
@@LuckyLucyHi baby steps
Lmfao no he didn't. They've been playing this game for literally seven years and know nothing about it. It's kind of annoying.
@@smashbrandiscootch719 how are you this deep into the series if you care about that.
like a big reason for a solid chunk of episodes ending the way they do is due to time and they make several impossible moves like on the daily.
@@albertlofling7310 This randomly popped up in my feed, kid.
No spoilers, but the ending is absolutely epic:D
More spoilery bit below:
It's a real shame we haven't seen Merilwen going full Neutral, I feel like, given the chance, Ellen would kicked their butts...
We need to see this animated at "in Geth" speed. It would be pure chaos.
Memes of Corazon elbow dropping a half-dead Dob
That was brilliant, Andy's plan was fantastic
The part where Luke says my 4 orc hearts are exposed, and it cuts to Johnny with this 50yard stare where they are just trying to think about 4 hearts in an orc. Maybe they were thinking of space marines!
Absolute peak oxventure chaos. I love it.
Hey, I the rogue have cunning action!
Okay, then I've got cunning action!
I too have cunning action!
Everyone gets cunning action! :P
I would agree, but then, they also let the hide action work in a featureless arena and act like greater invisibility
Not a complaint either way, just something I spotted and felt like saying.
Merylwen was robbed.
I will die on this hill, this is my Roman Empire.
i mean i don't disagree but.. so was Egbert who was slept and didn't have a chance to defend himself on the way down, and in a way Corazon as well because feather fall when active negates fall damage. The thing with PvP in DnD is that everyone has cheesy and broken things that can make even The toughest enemy die in humiliating ways its part of the fun.
@voidstar6353 and to add on if they were falling more than a minute he'd have a reaction again to reactivate it on top of fall damage almost certainly killing Dob flat out so his racial bonus wouldn't kick in
She was robbed by her own self-sabotage.
I don't think Corazon could've possibly died given feather fall lasts a minute at 60ft per second on an 80 foot mountain lol
I think the idea is Corazon wanted to die, after winning ofcourse but he wanted to die. That’s why he doesn’t even try to grab something to hang on.
Oh I realize he wanted to, he just wouldn't have@@LegendaryTalesandTrails
Can't believe no-one remembered the lore of dob cause he technically won, cause when he dies he comes back alive as an undead and has to walk up a mountain to a destroyed cabin and also the fish inside him would still be legal. God dob lore is so random
OMG I forgot about this!!
Also would Corazon feather fall do enough damage on landing to even take 1 point of damage off.
Prudence also had many outs on her way down though must have been too shocked to work them out. x:x
I think the implication was Corazon did feather fall too early and so it wore off before he landed because he died too.@@nihkhdtigerson1599
Even feather fall lasts a minute. Technically Corazon wouldn’t even die. Heck with feather fall he also had plenty of time to drive his saber on the mountain side and hang on. I think they kinda wanted to go they all die route.
They kinda all forgot that Egbert got explodinated due to his bombs, and declared the ground to be explosive. 🧨
My favourite part of this was Prudence playing to the camera, what a pro
Listening to the podcast uploads of the old episodes at work. Tower Rangers Part 1:
Dob: If Eggbert is dead we need recover the body to bury him in accordance with the wishes of Vache Mauve.
Corazon: Throw him off a cliff?
"I wanna get this Fathomer off" made me do a full spit-take. I'm apparently still 13 years old.
Being able to summon a demon has to help- unless it's another duck i guess
She really could have used it at the end of the fight like specifically the giant duck
I was hoping that's what she was doing when she walked over to the fathomer's corpse, since she'd need freshly-killed-humanoid blood.
That was actually the perfect ending - hilarious xD
This should be annual if the party has leveled up substantially.
Ha! I instantaneously knew Corazon would use feather fall! How did they not guess that?? Since when has he played not to his advantage hahaha
Where’s Corazon gone? He’s Cora-Gone!
That’s such a bad play on words in right up my street well played sir
We should have known that Corazon would win. It's written in his name: Cora-won!
I see Dob winning this as he just has to go full "don't be a Dob".
Dob could still be a Dob, but just summon the skeletons
Mexico selects Egbert as its champion
Ooof really tough call, but those wild shape hit points not effecting your main hp is nothing to sniff at.
Mike reads book, all characters die of shock
It's kinda sweet how hurt they were! I guess it's weird to play a wholesome dnd group for so long and then turn around and kill them.
Man Merylwin was my bet to win. That was unfortunate.
Everyone else's bet to win, too, that's why she was the first target.
I was kinda hoping for Egbert and his dumb luck… ^^
Jane went so easy on everyone, didn't even summon a giant duck!
Kind of glorious seeing all the characters feel the annoyance and frustration that Johnny has felt for years. 😁😂
Congrats to Andy for doing the most "It's what my character would do" move ever in Oxventure history. Corazon is as devious as he is combat averse.
Completely unrelated: I just watched Andy’s Senu clip and years later it is still one of my favourite bits on any of your channels. “I can see people!!?!”. He should play the part again in a one off oxventure episode. “Bayek, I’m freakin out!”
Any chance you remember which video of theirs that was from? I've been looking for days.
@@Advent04Children I saw it on “Show of the weekend: best bits of 2018”.

Time to paint some minis and watch this!
Did the Fathomer pop out of thin air or a thick bear?
"tubular pig-solid in a prison of wheat" is such a good callback
They always forget Corazon's greatest weapon is his brain.
If he was really using his brain he would have gotten the grease out and slid everyone off the mountain 😂
@@dee... OMG that would've been truly evil!
I always thought it was Johnny's uncanny inability to tell Andy "no".
Andy just decided to win .... and Johnny let him
@@davidkatz6197 To be fair, yeah, it is that. But it's funnier. Besides, Andy's build is the best or second best at pvp. He's one of the main damage dealer and best thing is, he has great luck. Look at Mike, his dice rolls is usually really bad. Even in this, it's bad.
They all improved simply by playing Baulder's Gate 3, lol. I love this competition!
As Corazon plummeted elbow first onto Dob he should have cried
“THIS IS FOR THE ORPHANS!”
I always have a great time, but am always reminded that Corazon is using a newer subclass than the rest, and he's multi-classed into rogue twice so... /shrug/ Still, love to see these dorks have fun :)
This trailer is sick Ive watched it like 8 times and I'm still hyped
I see this as Corazon’s win. Let’s be fair, even if he didn’t jump off with everyone, he was most likely to win. Because Dob was already in a bad way and prudence is kind of a glass cannon. Corazon also had loads of hit points left. Lots of defence with hiding and uncanny dodge and loads of attack with sneak attack.
Couldn‘t Prudence have tried to grab for the rock face and cast spider climb as they fell over the edge? Seems like it should work.
That's what I was thinking
I like that the framing is just vague enough that, depending on how the final season goes, this could potentially be interpreted as the true ending of the Oxventurer's Guild.
Or Liliana daydreaming…
You are all fools Bismeth the crown from necropolis on Sea. Is gonna slide into the ring the last second and take the last person stand out. She is FEARED by dragons and GREAT Evils. Or the Great Wizard BINBAG just to annoy Corazon.
AND IT'S BISMETH ENTERING THE RING WITH A STEEL CHAIR
