This is one of the best versions of this song I have seen and was found on an old VHS tape for your pleasure
How is it possible that this amazing piece didn't make it onto the album? It's brilliant and beautiful. Tori knows how to deliver the goods. Sultry, passionate, haunting, powerful vocals and masterful piano playing rolled into one incredible package.
Pulling me back- alone in the dark with only candles illuminating the room as this gorgeous sound enveloped me into a delicate fever trance. Tori taught me how passion tasted, and I have never been the same.
"I held your hand at the fair and even forgot what time it was" Even if this song might be about a bad relationship, that line is so cute 💗
my absolute favorite song. tori is the most amazing musician, lyricist,vocalist and performer out of all the many genres and types of music I enjoy. she gets takes me to a place in my own head that is undescribable, beautiful, painful and has helped me find myself from my teenage years and the decades following. my music goddess, tori... I thank you. you've completely impacted my life and so much more. I love you truly and always will. much respect to you tori. you'll always be "here in my head"

+GreenHoleSun Yes , Its the B side to "Crucify" CD Single , and know to be an out-take that just didn't make the final Track-list on "Little Earthquakes" ..My mother knitted a little "Tori" doll that I sent to Tori at the Cambridge Corn Exchange in for her UK Tour in 1992 , and I sent a letter with the doll saying how much this song means to me and that its one of the the moving songs I'd ever herd..That night Tori opened her show with this song and a few weeks later wrote back to me with a signed photo telling me how her new "little Tori" was enjoying the tour too...

one of my greatest regret is not being able to see a Tori concert in her golden era (the '90 with Boys for Pele representing the top masterpiece imho).
About the so-called "b-sides": I think that she willingly did not publish some of her greatest songs in the albums just to spare them for live performances and for her most devoted fans.

GreenHoleSun I was very lucky to have seen her in an old theater, not a huge crowd, she wasn't famous yet, at least as she is now. Little Earthquakes first album tour. I was BEYOND moved. This woman is. Brilliant.
@@dubstar457 I know this post is five years old, but I met her and her daughter at a radio station in 2014 and she was the sweetest human being. A guy I was seeing worked there, and she played an in studio performance. I hung out in the sound booth for a bit with the sound guys while her sound engineer and the sound guys fiddled with the sound. He was being quite particular and I could notice a little annoyance among the two sound guys. Next thing I know, this tiny little woman walks right in and introduces herself to everyone, gives everyone hugs and tells them she’s so sorry he’s being an ant fucker, and everyone melted and went from annoyed as hell to melting all over her. She was so fucking sweet.

Feeling "discarded" ...as in Apple Green ice-cream that melts , but people don't ...
The line you refer to is a basic reference to how a woman/girl can make a man already in a second relationship feel new and exciting , warm and wanton ..
"Come back and I'll show you the rose's that brush off the snow " ..meaning I can warm you in ways she never could..and the open petals being the result of the inviting warmth..
Its a brilliant ambiguous written song which has many double meanings as many of Tori's compensations do , some you might understand , many you never will because it comes from something in Tori's life very few know about.
"Here in my head" is a point of view from someone besotted with someone who has taken all and only used in return , and likely shared all of their woes with that person to make the victim more sympathetic to get what he wants from her..(e.g.)
"The Bow and the belt , and the girl from the south , ..all favourites of mine ..you know them all well.." Meaning of tales he may have told her , being beaten as a child and his 1st love of a girl that he never recovered from etc..all things a man might share to woo a girl for his own gains.
Its never obvious , because Tori uses poetic licence and leaves it to you to fill the blanks..
Did you know the song "Little Earthquakes" is about the emotions woman get during their Period ?
One of the most brilliant explanations of her songs I've ever read.
