  • In this episode I am conducting maintenance on the Front axle and end up learning how to weld using some cheap harbor freight equipment and fluxcore wire. I replace all of the suspension and steering components in the process.

So did you ever solve the wonky steering?

Nope, I was down in Florida briefly a few weeks ago and it seemed to be fine, but more work to keep straight than you want on the highway at 70+mph. I checked the steering column and I couldn't feel any play in the joints. The next time I'm down I'll try tightening it a few more times and see if it helps. The steering box might just be stripped out and needs to be replaced.

@@ruffwrenchn2235you said you lifted it right? the lift reduced caster as you can see in the alignment printout. it needs more caster from either adjustable upper or lower control arms

@@aidanklein7111 Is it just that simple? I didn't think such a small lift would alter the caster enough to make such a big difference. I've got one more shot to fix it before I move back across the country so I'll give adjustable arms a chance.

Let me start with, I just happened upon your 'thumbnail' thanks to an algorithm*.
Also let me add that I am retired at 66 due to health issues. My strength and agility is crap. So I'm pretty much unemployable and I do miss having something like a two day work week as a retiree in the service industry, but at this point I'd do any job if it suited my abilities.
Now it's time to give you props, HUGE PROPS, as you are someone that I admire for your tenacity.
I'm fasinated with things mechanical, always have been since I was a young sprout... I believe it's built into our DNA. All this AI, 'ones & zerohhs' on the other hand I find contrary to the human condition and it is only fostered by techies for the advantages of making money. Not a big upside there. But that's just my humble opinion.
*Of course there are some uses for our modern digital world, but in some cases it seems we're on a path to giving our innate talents the boot.
p.s. I'll be looking/perusing your videos and subbing... Congrats and keep mum safe, you're a good man.
and good job on the videography, too bad the neighborhood 'po-po' are so wearisome.
