  • Meet the team behind Jason’s award-winning UA-cam videos on this special episode of The Carmudgeon Show.

    ===
In this special episode, we get to know Anthony Esposito and Rob Sanders, the director and editor behind Jason Cammisa’s multiple-award-winning UA-cam car videos.
Cammisa and Esposito have been working together since Jason joined Motor Trend in 2015. Sanders joined the team shortly thereafter and the Three Stooges have traveled together from Motor Trend to ISSIMI and to Hagerty.
The team’s content won EIGHT Telly awards last year - in addition to a Webby, and so far, two International Motor Film Awards - and is widely regarded as the highest-quality automotive content on UA-cam.
In this episode, Anthony and Rob share behind-the-scenes war-stories about things that have gone wrong on shoots, including Jason smashing up cars or just being a jerk to unsuspecting hotel staff. (Only to have instant karma bite him in the ass.)
We learn about Rob and Anthony’s previous cars, what makes them tick - and just generally have a good laugh.

1:44:09 Derek's just contemplating his life choices. He could have been squatting for 2 hours instead, but here he is. Just a silent witness to the exuberance of life.

One of my favorite Throttle House videos is the one where Cammisa just randomly cameos (while inexplicably raking a driveway, I think?) And screams, "Wait! I haven't been on UA-cam in two years!"

@@MrTheTrafalgarThe one where the BMW is playing ads before it'll let AndImJames use any of the features, and the ad is Cammisa listing off all the horrible, debilitating side-effects of some drug? Yeah, that was great.
I don't remember which car Thomas and James were reviewing in the other one, all I remember is that it was Jason's first appearance back on UA-cam after leaving Motor Trend, before he started with Issimi. And I laughed my ass off. My guess is that he had a non-compete clause from MT that he had to wait out.

MORE OF THIS! 2 hours whipped by. Rob was a total sweetheart of a. Dude. Espo was not what i expected, but a lot of fun. Derek was an introvert... i love ya, buddy. And Jason hogged the show, as we expect him to, and dont really mind either. I would love to see this group together annually to rag about the year's exploits. Too fun, gonna start it over again right now.

Best episode yet! At the end of the day, it's not the car talk, it's embarrassing Jason that makes this one stand above the rest.
And, while Derek's bladder could barely handle it, the longer run time was throughly enjoyed and appreciated.

I'm *sure* this was coincidence, but I love that this episode and its focus follows the TST/Cammisa "Clear Air" podcast on the Cybertruck, which did include some (actually, very sincere) discussion on the sad nature of the social media landscape of scripted, high-quality production videos (which, hats off to you *and* Hagerty for making it happen) versus "lower quality," unscripted, high-output media on various platforms (lots more I could say there, but IYKYK ; -). Regardless, so nice to see the talent behind the camera lenses - keep it up, please!!!

I knew that Jason's team were film nerds! To be able to translate to video, with a limited budget, what he has to say without actually saying it is a big ask. So happy to see the team behind the videos. These guys deserve as much credit. I wish Jason will bring these guys in whatever he does and I hope they get compensated more to be able to do more of these! That award was well deserved. I hope Anthony and Rob can be regular guest every few months or so. Kudos to everyone!

As someone with nearly 40 years in TV production, the Cammisa/Esposito videos are some of the best I've ever seen. The first two minutes of the Toyota Supra video were amazing and I was hooked. It was great to get a look at the behind the scenes. I'd love to see you all hit the road, and I can only imagine what would have come about if you had recorded the trip to get the Rover. Looking forward to seeing more from you all.

If it makes Jason feel better I did almost the exact same thing at a hotel in Kentucky. I was shooting an event, walked in with my assistant and 8 bags, argued with the woman at the desk only to find out we were supposed to be at their competitors hotel on the other side of the courtyard. All this at 11pm after a 9 hour drive to get there.
I went back the next day and apologized.

I have a question if the work you do and the people you work with is fun and entertaining is it really considered work? I had that experience when I was a younger technician. Yes there were times when you pulled your hair out but I so much enjoyed learning new technology and the diagnostic part I never considered it work and my hobby continued to be with cars. Your enthusiasm and the way you interact with each other is what makes these shows so enjoyable to watch.
Anthony I agree Firemist is one of the best R129 colors which is why I bought a 99 in Firemist when I saw the classified ad.

Shhhhh! Don't ask completely reasonable rhetorical questions like that. I have my employer (and more importantly my wife) absolutely convinced I'm working quite hard when I'm out filming our episodes! Also, the R129 I bought that flashes up on screen isn't actually Firemist, it's Crimson metallic. To be fair, the two colors look almost identical and both colors are equally amazing.
