I broke my washing machine once trying to wash pillows. I take them to the laundromat and use the really large machine. If you don’t dry them well they will mold inside. Take them out of the dryer, shake them and put them back in to be sure they are dry in the middle. Good video.

That's because you put them in the dryer, that american obsession....if if dry them naturally, they won't catch mold.

A few years ago, a friend of mine went to the laundry to wash a pillow. He came back and saw from a distance that it was all rolled around inside the washing machine. He didn't even go near it so that no one would guess that it was his.

Washing the pillow isn't the problem, trying to get the lumpy filling to smooth out afterwards is the main problem.

After washing or buying new pillows, buy a zippered pillow cover that is rated for everything,. That ensures that sweat and dust mites and their feces do not ever get to your pillow. You'll never have to wash a pillow again, just the cover. Buy a mattress protector that zips up and covers the whole thing. Your pillow and your mattress will last much longer and stay clean, allergen and dust mite free.

@@johnwalters878 False… a pillow case and a pillow cover/protector are entirely different. A cover rated for “everything “ as stated in the original comment will protect the pillow so it is less likely to need to be washed.

I put a zip on each pillowcase. When I have to wash it, I just empty the contents into a bag and wash the pillowcase in a similar way, puff the inside of the pillowcase and put it back when dry, works for me because pillowcases with their filling does not wash easily in all washing machines ❤❤❤

Wash pillow protectors every week when washing bed linens. This reduces the amount of washing needed to keep actual pillows clean and sanitary. I have down pillows 20 years old that are in great condition.

When you first buy your pillow, weigh it and write the weight in permanent marker on it. When you wash it, dry it until the weight again matches. This is the only way you can guarantee a dry pillow.

@@mkel858 : Yes, people are afraid to wash down every couple of months, but it washes and gets revived like human hair. You just have to hang it up to really dry out the insides for an extra day after it comes out of the dryer. Then ‘re-fluff’ it with your hands to redistribute the feathers. You can wash winter jackets by turning them inside out and zipping them up to wash them so that the zipper doesn’t flop around.

Normally, Calgon is added yo remove lime from the washing machine, but it will also remove the iron atom which gives the hemoglobin protein in blood the red color.

leave them out in the sun for the whole day. flip over and do the same for the other side. Them wash in the washing machine. Make sure its a very hot day, so that it will dry (I normally leave them out for 2 days-because my clothes line is under the pergola). Dryer would normally felt burn the sythetic fibres inside (same with wool-dont use your washing machine spin dry if wool), so air drying it or near the heater(make sure it's safe and wont catch fire) during winter is better.

@@phatnunis4876 Thank you very much for your advice. We've had dryer balls before, but maybe UK pillows are different to begin with. But here anytime I've tried to follow the washing instructions for manmade fibres they end up lumpy, even when I had the drier balls, the fibre just seems to separate and goes into lumps.
And I personally only use natural fibres for all our bedding. I used to use down pillows and duvets, which were easy to wash, but my husband is allergic to them.
So at the moment i buy all new pillows each year. I then remove the fibres from the old ones, bleach the fabric, which is cotton and they will be used for cleaning cloths and other things. I keep the fibres, as although not as good as wool, they're great for helping to light fires, and we go to a cottage off the grid, using it there. I've also got the fire sitting higher than normal, so being disabled I can just sit down on a regular chair and still do the fires there. But the kids also go out and collect the wool that has been caught on bushes from the sheep. Waste nothing and leave no trace.

A gondozásuk is könnyebb😊

Mikor összegyűjtötték a tollat akkor elvitték a paplan készítőhöz ő varrta be a tollat anginba.👍

Forgot to mention don't stuff the washing machine with two big pillows and add laundry balls which will beat the suds into the pillows. Add the balls also in the dry to speed up the drying process and to make the pillows Fluffy. 😊

To protect the pillows I first put a white pillow case on and then one the goes with the comforter, this way no need to wash more than ever six months. Save time and money with this method.

What about life threatening PESTS ( microscopic organisms , not Insects) that create systemic conditions ( here to stay) ...that are treated with permethrin and ivermectin and more ; as is used for parasitic infections (all related) ...replacing your pillows nor cleaning fixes it...What might you know something about this...🤔

NO. Solo quando il cuscino diventa scomodo per dormire. Cambio soltanto l'imbottitura del cuscino. Apro la cerniera, tolgo il riempitivo e lo sostituisco con uno nuovo😊
