there is one thing I like the most about you, it’s the fact you’re not only listening to a song and saying : yeaah it’s cool or not. But you try to understand the meaning of the lyrics, you share it with us and you focus on what other people won’t do. Thank you!!
I like how you analyzed the “how could he go if he’s got everything, I’ll mourn for a kid but won’t cry for a king.” So true. I’ve seen people think the quotation marks end after “everything”, and that Tyler says that he himself won’t cry for a king. That’s completely wrong, and contradicts the entire song in a twisted way. Just something I noticed :)
"They would host and post a celebration" is actually a reference to the Chester Bennington tribute show. Twenty One Pilots and Linkin Park are my two favorite artists ever.
Man, I cry every time i listen to this. "Promise me this, if i lose to myself, you wont mourn a day, and you'll move on to someone else" and "to life they were dedicated, now that should be celebrated" get me every time
tyler is always telling us a story and giving us hope and positivity, even in songs like this. these songs can literally save lives, cause there are so much emotions in it that we feel it too. There's a song called Truce where he literally says 'stay alive for me' and that hits me every time. ps: in the future, please don't make the mistake to watch Heavydirtysoul, Jumpsuit, Nico and the Niners or Levitate alone. These are songs that tell the same story (one single music video in 4 songs) and you must watch them in the same video for the whole experience.
As crazy as it is I give this band mad props for what they’ve done to me. Their music has straight up saved my life. And I wish they knew..I thank them so much
I remember when I first heard this song I wrote my dad a letter telling him how amazing he is. All my grandparents are passed, but luckily my dad is an incredible person and he deserves to be told so on a more consistent basis. Just another reason to love Tøp....
Also I’m not sure if you’ve done a reaction to Kitchen Sink, but it is super deep and amazing and I would love to see a reaction of it. You won’t have much time though, because the album it’s from is being taken down by Warner Music. React while you can! You don’t wanna miss it, trust me.
"I'll mourn for a kid, but won't cry for a king" - one of my absolute favorite lines, but the take you have on it is so interesting. I took it to mean that he would mourn the person behind the mask people see, he mourns the person, not the image. I really like the way you interpreted that line.
I love Holding On To You. Fairly Local is fun. Both of those have official videos. You could do a series of Heavy Dirty Soul, Jumpsuit, Levitate, Nico and the Niners....they all tell a story about the world of Dema.
I opened this vid, put my phone aside and started designing my villa for a school project while listening to your reaction. You are dope. You get the messages before Tyler could explain it to you. And you appreciate him. And that's why I appreciate you
@@TheThirdErnest haha Renzo Piano's Parco della Musica is amazing, I would want to experience that. I admire Jeanne Gang and Frank Lloyd Wright, but I'm surrounded by the works of Jacob van Rijs, Rem Koolhaas and Ben van Berkel :) It's your area of interest as well, isn't it? I think you just became more awesome
I love the way you think out of the box bc there are some lyrics I never heard and never thought about and you make me think. I love you and your videos, keep on with twenty one pilots they are the best
Two of my faves from Trench are Morph and Cut my Lip. I think you’d like them both. Also, Heavy Dirty Soul and then the continuation MV of Jumpsuit would be so great.
Morph is my favorite song of them because I found the thought process in the lyrics so cool and for someone, whos first language isn't english, it helped a lot that they're pretty much on the surface. I always liked 21 pilots but never really got into analyzing the deeper meaning of the lyrics (besides morph because it's so obvious) and the whole dema universe because looking them up and translating isn't worth the effort for most songs played by the radio (imo). The fact that not only do they produce multigenre music which is viable to mainstream WHILST preserving their unique, creative style WHILST being a band consisting of only two people BUT have such lyrical genius on top just blows my mind. Josh and Tyler have to be one of my, if not the all time fav artists. Really hope Ernest checks out Morph, the lyrics are just too great :D
I think it’s fair to say you’re the best reactor out there. All the other reactors I’ve watched usually just bop their head to the beat of a meaningful song not even listening to what it’s about. The way you analyse the lyrics of their songs is actually really amazing and your channel definitely deserves more attention as this is what a reaction channel should be like.
I was actually binge-watching your Twenty One Pilots reactions tonight (among a few others) and refresh to randomly see this one - a pleasant surprise! Really been enjoying watching you react and how you dig into and interpret everything in all of their songs.
I want to thank you for opening my eyes about "ill mourn for a kind but wont cry for a king". I really thought that was tyler's opinion. But when you pointed that it was actually what the people are saying, I looked up in the genius lyrics and realised it was part of the quotation. For so long, i have thought that tyler was angry at chester so he refused to offer his condolences publicly. Now i know he didnt say that and I could cry. Thank you so much.
Love the analysis of the lyrics. Good video to come back with! "I'll mourn for a kid but won't cry for a king" one of my favorite lines in this song. And as you said, that moonlight sonata melody is wonderful
I really like how deep you go into all the lyrics and dissect their meanings. Thats why I like your channel. You go way further into the lyrics than most song critics. Excellent video man. Very impressed.
I love when people react to not only the sound of the song but also the lyrics ESPECIALLY when it comes to twenty one pilots songs. their deep lyrics often go unheard because of the upbeat melody (besides this song of course).
Your channel is my number one react channel! I love your tøp videos. Unlike other channels that review them probably just to get views from their rising fandom, you actually analyze their lyrics and listen to the song. You can still appreciate the vibe of it and the instrumentals but you give real insight and I appreciate it. You deserve more subscribers for sure
while I do appreciate the subs from a huge diehard fanbase, im not gonna water down videos just to pump them out...just not the style of the channel and would get called out! yall deserve the best!
This song always hits home to me. I've been suffering for nearly 10 years with depression but I'm at that point now after a long battle like Tyler says 'they won't get them' . It will not win I need to control it not it control me. These boys are fire
Bro I have a newborn daughter at home, 5 days old... I was trying to calm her the other day and because of this video I put on Beethoven... The look on her face when those high keys came in was the first time I could recognize like pleasure... She wasn't smiling but clearly was enjoying it... Here is my take for this song. For Linkin Park fans, it is a known fact that Chester is a huge fan of twenty one pilots and Tyler must have known about that. However, he does not approved of people trying to glorify suicide. What LP fam did for Chester, from an outside perspective, must have come across as glorifying. Huge memorials everywhere, increased number of suicidal calls, etc. When Tyler said that part about "they can host a celebration".. Chester's official memorial at the Hollywood Bowl was called, "Celebrating the Life of Chester Bennington". When he said, he would cry for a child but wont mourn for a king, I interpret it as if a kid took his own life, thats a pity coz he didnt get the help he needed and havent lived much, but for those that are older, who has all the access to rehab and mental health facilities, it's a shame that it was not avoided. This part right here, I can feel the anger from Tyler. I know, coz im a huge LP fan, that fans have been tagging him over and over and over again for him to offer condolences in public (he did in private as per Mike Shinoda's AMA speech) but he never did publicly, maybe coz this was the "Silence Era", but more so because he doesnt want the tøp fans to support and glorify this. Thus the line, "if i lose to myself, promise me this, that you wont mourn a day and move on to someone else". He doesnt want people to get stuck mourning, like what stan did to Kurt Cobain, to Chris Cornell, to Chester. He appreciates that there is talk about mental health because of this suicides, but he doesnt want this to be the choice or option of an artist to get back to the world when they feel the world has wronged them. That was awesome I love the way you analyze songs. Next tøp song should be Taxi Cab, or Addict With a Pen. For a tip on how to analyze these, think of it from a Christian perspective.
I think the biggest difference in this song compared to many of their other deep songs is that the metaphors are stripped back. This isn't a song Tyler wanted his audience to interpret any old way--- it's a clear message that he didn't want to be misinterpreted.
I’m watching your video for the first time! Last night my kids were in the other room playing the keyboard and they started buying what I thought was Neon Gravestones! So are yelled from the other room “NEON GRAVESTONES!” And yelled back “ No, Beethoven!’ I’ve never heard anyone else say that! You caught right away! That’s Awesome!!!
My 1st experience of Moonlight Sonata was when I was 10y and my Music teacher played on piano and I burst into tears ,my 10y old self had never heard such beautiful music. I love classical since then. Nice that you picked up on that.
I really appreciate your channel and how you go about these songs and really understanding and talking about the meaning. Love it. I'm so happy I found you in this "reacting world on UA-cam" , you and a few others actually get it. Yes I'm a misanthrope. But I want! to see the good side of ppl. Wonderful reaction. Hugs.
First off, I hope your brother, family, and you are doing as well as you can be and my thoughts are with you!! I've been waiting awhile for you to react to this song. It hits me and chokes me up everytime and hearing you break it down and actually analyze it made me cry lol especially the "promise me this, if I lose to myself..." part of the song. I've seen a lot of people react to TØP's songs and I've seen no one break them down and analyze the lyrics and instrumentals in an intellectual way like you do. You're my favorite by far! Keep doing what you're doing. You are appreciated!! ♥️
You notice that to when an artist is killed or commits suicide. There albums become so popular. Nirvana was already popular but then reached another level when the singer took his life. Sublime is a band though that got more attention after the fact the singer died. So many examples throughout history.
Recently found your channel, and what you are doing is what I missed from most react channels, you actually talk, try to figure out stuff, compare things etc, and not have the videos be like 30 sec longer than original. Some good stuff I have seen so far, keep it going!
Moonlight sonata. Ode to sleep. Tyler uses night and daylight very symbolically. And he has a lot of callbacks to ode to sleep specifically across various songs. So referencing moonlight sonata seems really likely for a song like neon gravestones especially.
I love how you just took the time to appreciate Beethoven
Twenty One Panics! at the Fall Out Dragons username is awesome

I'm so happy I found you in this "reacting world on UA-cam" , you and a few others actually get it. Yes I'm a misanthrope. But I want! to see the good side of ppl. Wonderful reaction. Hugs.
Appreciate that! Trying to rise to the top of the reaction world ain’t easy! Lol
I have actually never looked at the song this way before. Your a very good reaction channel for music
I'm glad that I wasn't the only one to notice moonlight sonata mv.1.
Please react to this in the BBC Live Lounge. It's so much more emotional and conveys the message even better
Ya man...such a good message encased in a great melody.
Just joined the family, so glad you finally did this song
Just watched your video, man. This is how music reaction should be. You earned my respect
You notice that to when an artist is killed or commits suicide. There albums become so popular. Nirvana was already popular but then reached another level when the singer took his life. Sublime is a band though that got more attention after the fact the singer died. So many examples throughout history.
Duuuuuude I subbed at 6 minutes, your interpretation is just so on point!
Shit. You mentioned chester. You get it dude. You get it. Thank you
I used the moonlight sonata part 1 in my english power point presentation and idk how i'm just realizing that Neon Gravestones mimics it
Recently found your channel, and what you are doing is what I missed from most react channels, you actually talk, try to figure out stuff, compare things etc, and not have the videos be like 30 sec longer than original.
