UPDATED: This updated memoriam for 2016 includes several more celebrities, as well as their ages and cause of death, which I didn't include on the first batch of videos that I originally created in 2022. This revision also includes sound clips for some of the celebrities that I think you will find interesting. In the coming weeks, I plan to update a few more videos that I hope you will enjoy. Thank you to everyone for your support and kind words for this labor of love.
I cry every time I watch In Memoriam. Some die so very young, others very old, but it's always sad. Many times I had not heard that people featured had passed away. Many almost felt like friends and family, having watched them many times on TV, or the movies, or heard them on radio. Now I am old myself, and it is a poignant reminder of the brevity of life and our own mortality.
I have lost so many of my own family and friends as I'm sure many of you viewers have. May God bless us all and reunite for eternity in heaven.😢❤🎉
Well said.
Honorable Mention to Janet Waldo, best known for originating the voice of Judy Jetson. She passed away on June 12, 2016.
My sister mourned David Bowie. She was to die April.5th 2016. Another one of her idols were George Michael, which she did not get a chance to mourn. RIP Rhonda 1966 - 2016.
I still can't get over it that Carrie Fischer dies and her mother Debbie Reynolds passes the next day.
I can't believe we lost everyone in this year.
Yes.. very meaningful
Debbie died of what they call Broken Heart Syndrome. She and Carrie were two fine actresses, and will be sorely missed 🙏🙏
Debbie and Carrie were as close as a mother and daughter could be.
After Star Wars took off and became a smash hit, Debbie would say that she was “….princess Leah’s mommy….”
I miss both of them
She apparently felt that she could not live without Carrie, and so she didn't.
Oh my gosh many well known musicians , actors & actresses !! So many lost in 2016 . I adored Patty Duke and her kids Sean Astin & Mackenzie Astin . Love and still love streaming the many made for television movies she made from the early 70s to the 90s . It was her eldest son Sean Astin who announced his mom’s death to the media I remember . Patty did ALOT for the SAG union she served as President of SAG . She suffered from Bipolar depression undiagnosed until the 80s and a movie was made . Patty also wrote her autobiography “Call Me Anna” which is her birth name. Cried when I learned of Patty’s passing . I to suffer from emotional problems . For me I manage with prescription meds every day and talk therapy 3 times a month . And my 2 cats and watching my favorite old shows from the 70s & 80s. Also my favorite TV movies and miniseries from 70s-90s. Also love my flowers and nature strolls . Patty Duke was an idol to me. I miss her dearly.Rest in Peace Patty🌺🕊🕊💐🌷🌹🌸🌼⭐️⭐️💔✝️✝️❤️🩹
My mom died August 29, 2016. The same day Gene Wilder did. She liked him on Blazing Saddles and of course Willie Wonka. To this day I still wonder if they met up in the next life, and is he keeping her constantly laughing.
Charmian Carr who played Liesl in "The Sound of Music" died on September 17, 2016.
Patty Duke presented the oscar to George Kennedy when he won for Cool Hand Luke. Both gone in 2016.
I loved watching Alan Young play Wilbur Post in "Mr Ed." He was a great actor. William Schallert also played Dobie Gillis's teacher in "The Many Loves of Dobie Gillis." He was a great actor.
Another original member of Jefferson Airplane, Signe Anderson (she was replaced by Grace Slick) died on the same day as Paul Kantner.
My mom also died on Aug. 5th of that year . Her first great granddaughter had her birthday that same day..my Mom tried so hard to hold on and not go on Kat's birthday..she really tried..I knew it was her wish. But she just didn't make it..by only like an hour. Love you, Mom!!! You were always the best!!!
Oh 2016 was a horrendous year for celebrity deaths as they kept dropping like flies
Superstars incessantly kept falling like leaves off a tree in autumn 😢
Gone In 2016 But Not Forgotten Is Director Guy Hamilton, Remo Williams, Funeral In Belin,Goldfinger, Live And Let Die, Man With The Golden Gun. RIP.
Glenn Frey, Maurice White, Keith Emerson, and Greg Lake participated on the first California Jam with their bands. Sad loss of the four.
Eagles, EWF, and ELP. That WAS a California Jam and then some! Glad that You were able to attend.🤔😉🎤🎼🎵🎶🎸🎷🎺🎻🥁🦅B.W.
@@madbrowniac7871 I saw them on "In Concert" TV 📺
Still Wow! That is a "Midnight Special" level gathering of Musical Talent.🤔🎤🎼🎵🎶🎸🎹🎷🎺🎻🥁📺B.W.
I think the saddest of all of these was Anton Yelchin. He was so young, and had such a bright career ahead of him.
And he passed in such a freak accident, being crushed by his own car.
You forgot Pete Burns of Dead Or Alive... 😢❤
So many famous people passed this year.
Although David Bowie was 69 we lost a great musician. Loved his songs but my favorite was "Young American".
Allll....right
Rest In Peace Princess Leia.
My son died of cancer in January 2016 too. He was only 32.
Sorry for your loss. I lost my mom in 2013 and my dad July of this year.
@@shaider1982 ❤️❤️
That is brutal. God rest his soul and bring you comfort.
@@markanderson6707 thank you
I like the way is done. Keep doing them.
Beautiful tribute, with exquisite background music. Very soothing.🕊🙏🏽🪽
In watching all of these In Memoriam videos, I am stricken by the number of rock musicians, both young and old, who died by either drug overdose, or suicide. What sad lives they must have led.
Contrary to popular belief, fame and fortune are not generally dreams come true. They demand much of a person in that situation, piece by piece, neverending. It's true that that life is chosen, by adults, NOT by children, but might become a trap, with few ways out.
So sad about Glenn Frey's passing. I can't listen to the Eagles without him.
When the Pope was making his trip to Cuba he asked Mother Theresa to pray for him. She was an amazing person. Started broadcasting from a garage in Birmingham al and made it the biggest religious network in the world. The Pope was speaking at the Vatican the day she died, someone in the crowd held up a picture of mother Theresa, he stopped right in the middle of his speech and pointed up and said shes in heaven now.
18:39 I was thrilled to attend the latest Concert for a Cause; put together by The Christina Grimmie Foundation back in September of 2023.The Foundation was created to help those impacted by gun violence; putting together funds for survivors and families who lost loved ones; so that every day issues won't become extra burdens to the important task of grieving. I have met several of those benefited by CGF; many who have stayed on to help others in turn. They are some of the most courageous and compassionate frands I've ever seen; the legacy of a young woman who started her music career to become an inspiration for others; especially younger girls. Adam Levine; her mentor for season 6 of The Voice said this on a PSA testimonial for CGF: "There are certain people who won't let you be the sort of status quo person you usually are. I wanted to be better around her(Christina), for her." So says millions of Team Grimmie frands worldwide. Always With Love. ☮💚Rawwk Fingers \|/
Imagine all the lives dr Henry Heimlich saved and I never knew about his death or much about his life 😢
I will never forget walking into the kitchen on the 14th, and my father had this sort of "You're not gonna like hearing this" expression on his face. Then he said "Alan RIckman died". I just stood there for a second then ran into my room and completely lost it. I had been a fan since Die Hard, followed his career through everything, and of course, fell in love with his interpretation of Professor Snape. I felt like the sky had lost a star, just like Luna Lovegood said in the final Potter film. For a long time I couldn't watch anything he was in without bursting into tears.
That was a hard one to take. I watched all of his movies as well. I remember going in to see Robin Hood thinking that I would be rooting for Kevin Costner but ended up rooting for Alan's character :)
Including my mom Marion L McCorkle 😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭 passed away 1-1-38too 7-3-2016 the world greatest mama 😇💯 per cent love you
So sad. Not for them but for us left here missing them
Thank you for the redo of 2016. Your videos are wonderful. ❤
Glad you like them!
I love the music too. Not overwhelming the quotes!
Compilations are respectful, concise, and accurate.
While their ultimate passing is sad, watching these pay proper homage without dwelling on the inherent sadness ....
Whenever I watch one of these, I notice all the people I remember from Dean Martin's Comic Roast, which ran for about ten years, with a hiatus in the early '80s. There are quite a few of them in this 2016 episode, both roasters and roastees. Hardly anyone from that show is still alive, not surprising because the majority were middle-aged comics and character actors, with a few old stars sprinkled in.
One celebrity that was left out was musician Rick Parfitt from Status Quo, he passed away Christmas Eve 2016😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
2016 was the year of the celebrity deaths So many stars
I enjoyed George's singing. My favorite was "Careless Whisper"!
Mine too
Beautiful video. Thanks. ❤
TY for sharing this. Beautiful job again. God Bless You and stay safe 🙏 ❤️
Another great and informative video. Thank you!

so many big names passed away that year, so sad
Pete Burns, lead singer of DEAD OR ALIVE, dead on Aug. 23, 2016. Most famous album from "Youthquake", 1985, and the mega hit "You Spin Me Round and Round (Like A Record)...missing here. This was a painful year to witness. For me, because I loved George Michael, Prince, and David Bowie's music so much, too. Carrie Fisher, you will
always BE Princess Leia. RIP to all!
You added the right touch to this
Wow, Carri Fisher and her mother Debbie Reynolds dies the next day!?!? Gezz
Beautiful production!
Why is it, that when a who died in 2016 is made, does Staus Quo's Rick Parfitt always get forgotten?
He died in Christmas Eve 2016 from sepsis
His twins are in some of my son's classes at secondary school.
Clay "C." Martin Croker, voice of Zorak and Moltar on Space Ghost: Coast to Coast and Cartoon Planey, died on September 17, 2016 of undisclosed reasons.
Just for the record, Florence Henderson was an awesome person and beautiful lady, but she and Bob Reed were not the first couple to sleep in the same bed on television. Lisa and Oliver Douglas were sleeping in the same bed in 1965 and I believe there were some others.
Yes there were others. In the 1950s, Ozzie and Harriet Nelson slept in the same bed on their show "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet."
I wonder why som shows did and some others didn't have a couple share the same bed. Lucy and Ricky were in seperate beds.@@lynettepalecek3141
And Fred Gwynne and Yvonne DeCarlo in 'The Munsters"
Excellent example!@@nancyomalley6286
Robert Vaughan was in the classic western The magnificent seven love Anthony Fed ex lol
I miss Florence Henderson , but she got one thing wrong her & Robert Reed was not the first couple to have a scene in bed , that honor went to Herman & Lillian Munster even Darren & Samantha Stephens on bewitched had bed scenes before the Brady Bunch
So glad that I got to see Prince in concert before he passed.
His death was a shock to the whole world 🌎.
I still can't believe he's gone, like George Michael.
David Bowie was also in a great movie called merry Christmas Mr Lawrence love Anthony Fed ex lol
I love that at 17:30, William Christopher, in his role as Father Mulcahy in "M*A*S*H," mentions Palisades Amusement Park ❤!
When in Christ Jesus, they never die.
Go away. Religion makes people stupid.
Christ Jesus the Trojan horse to heaven. 😆
@@simonagree4070 wrong concept. Christ is not the enemy of/in heaven.
Kevin Meaney was funny. I remember seeing him a lot on talk shows in the 90's
some here are my favorite people…R.I.P. my friends….
RIP to all may the force be with you Carrie Fisher love Anthony Fed ex lol star wars tragic love Anthony Fed ex lol
I can't believe Debbie Reynolds died one day after her daughter, Carrie Fisher. And their deaths weren't connected? Strange
I think that they were connected because I think that Debbie Reynolds was literally heartbroken after her daughter's 💔 death to the point that she died. That can and does happen. Debbie Reynolds and her daughter Carrie Fisher were extremely close.
Debbie Reynold's greatest fear was outliving her daughter. She actually did realize this. I believe the shock of Carrie's death affected her to the point that the shock did take her life.
She died of a hemorrhagic stroke. She had a weakness in a blood vessel in her brain that may have never ruptured before she died of other causes. The shock of Carrie's death almost certainly set it off.
@@dskyyksd yeah that really makes me wonder. My wife died in 1999 of an aneurysm. She was only 36 years old. It was like a time bomb
It is amazing that those who lived past 90
R.i.P to all 🙏💔
You forgot rick parfitt who died on the 24th dec 2016
1:00 David bowe and Alan Rick man are my favorites
Lost many great musicians this year 🙏
I would highly suggest you edit this video and include the famous, talented, and beautiful, Kitty Kallen.
Thanks for updating the 2016 list
Merci beaucoup pour votre vidéo sur les décès en 2016 👍😇🕯️
Vous êtes les bienvenus.
David Bowie and George Michael in the same year
Rick Parfitt also passed on Christmas eve
David Bowie in January and George Michael in December
And Prince!
George Kennedy won his Oscar for 'Cool Hand Luke' and not for 'Airport', that was won by Miss Helen Hayes.
Keith Emerson 😢
2016 was a very bad year for rockers.
George Kennedy was in classic movies The sons of Katie Elder The dirty dozen Earth quake and thunderbolt and Lightfoot love Anthony Fed ex lol
I met 3 of these people. George Kennedy, Bernard Fox, and William Christopher.
I just watched Bernard Fox in "The Mummy" as Winston
Never forget 2016 celebs dropping like flies
@inmemoriam2000 what kind of music is this?!!! It’s absolutely lovely!!! 🙏🙏
2016 was a terrible year. We lost so many artists.
Yeah, Bowie, Prince, George Micheal. It just so crazy.
These remaining young people will not know of these former entertainers.
Twenty sixteen was an emotionally difficult year for my family and I. Lost my father on January 21st at 69. Still miss him terribly.
It's been a tragic year.... Every two days there was a death.... And this is an english video.... In France too we had a lot of famous people who passed away this year....
My Condolence To The Passing Of Phyllis M.McVoy Actress,Painter 1924-2016 Who Played Parts In Small Town Plays. Will Be Sadly Missed. A Loving Care ❤️. RIP.
Vanity was so pretty!
A notable omission to this list is Pat Summit. Legendary college basketball coach who had nearly 1100 career wins and won 8 national titles.
It was really devastating to learn that Keith Emerson and Greg Lake, 2/3rds of the music group Emerson, Lake and Palmer, died in 2016. Another progressive rock legend, John Wetton, would die in January 2017. Three of my all-time favorite musicians dead within less than a year.
John Wetton has been added to the new 2017 rev2.0 video, available tomorrow. Thank for the suggestion. I loved King Crimson.
@inmemoriam5384 I didn't even know about Glenn Frey Paul Katner too....
Richard Adams, author of the bestselling _Watership Down_ novel, died on December 24, 2016 at the age of 96.
So many musicians from my youth died in 2016. Not to mention Carrie Fischer and her mom Debbie Reynolds.
ALWAYS I will love Patty Duke! But why did you leave Jean Byron off the 2006 list? She played the mommy on that series I STILL love!
Rest Well Vanity 👠 & Prince 🌹 hoping you will get to see each other again in the skies🎸💜🎤
Rip David Bowie, George Kennedy, Alan Rickman and Muhammad Ali, along with singers Prince and Glenn Frey. Alan Rickman was a very good actor enjoyed him as the villain in especially in Die Hard in 1988 one of my favorite movies along with Robin Hood Prince of Thieves and was main villain in Tom Sellecks Quigley Down Under.
Another notable omission is Ed Snider. Chairman of Comcast spectacor and founder of the Philadelphia Flyers. Passed on 4/11/16
I remember seeing Marni Nixon on To Tell The Truth (game show). Kitty Carlisle had to abstain from voting because she knew her.
2016 SUCKED PRINCE, GEORGE MICHEAL TOO MANY TO NAME . YOU FEEL LIKE YOU KNOW THESE PEOPLE. REST IN HEAVENLY PARADISE EVERYONE GOD BLESS YOU AMEN.
What about George Gaynes?
I remember the day that David Bowie flew off to his home planet and left us alone vividly. As soon as I learned of his departure… I stood up from my desk and strolled through the offices where I was working… wondering how everybody could be so calm and collected… just like nothing happened… A lonely day. We will meet again, Major Tom. Wherever you are now 🌌
I loved Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor in the hilarious movie, Every Which Way But Loose. Gene Wilder was a very funny and very talented actor.
Don’t forget “Stir Crazy”
Also carlo mastrangelo should be in this list , he died may 4, 2016.
This year was probably the worst year of loss of musicians and celebrities.
Nancy Reagan was so pretty and so was Patty Duke.
How can you forget Melvin Laird, secretary of defense 1969-73 under President Nixon.
You have the guy who said" I can't believe I ate the whole thing ".
We lost soooo many celebrities in 2016. May they all continue to rest in peace. 🙏🏻❤🕊️
Yeah, it was a crazy year. We lost so many people.
