@@CharlesTPrimm an overused jazz melodic lick, a meme for a lot of jazz musicians and fans. Just look up "The Lick" on UA-cam search, and you should find a video that will make you never unhear the lick where it happens to find itself.
Might be interesting to talk about how master jazz drummers tuned their drums and what sort of cymbals they played. Lots of different tunings and lots of different cymbals and they all sound great! The mystery is, what are the musical attributes that those masters share in common?!
Jeremy Stig Are you sure? Meinl company, "Foundry Reserve" series makes two major portion of the city of Samsun in Turkey. The biggest proof is also stamps. It says “Made in Turkey” on it. Why is that? Because the best cymbals and cymbal masters from Turkey. Therefore, the best company in the world is Istanbul. Because it contains the best craftsmen, materials and handwork technique.
@@Serjument As you already know the Meinl Byzance series is made in Turkey and finished in Germany. You know the Germans don't mess around with quality and perfection. But i agree that the best cymbals come from Turkey.
In a club setting, I'd be intrigued by all of these combinations. The last, Istanbul MC Jazz, especially the high hats. (Took me 6 months to find my 22" Mel Lewis ride); however, I have the early edition (?)20" Kerope which has far more oxide with controlled wash, dark stick and a bell which evokes a call from a Tibetan temple. I like the Evans UV1, and use 'em on one of my kits, but were I centering on that Joe Morello open sound, it would definitely be the Remo. Again, liked 'em all.
I dont like Evans heads they are too choked and dont have as much tone as Remo. I want my drum to sing, so I like Remo. Remo drum heads have more tone as well.
Well, hard work, I totally get it, but you are out in the woods! Everything is out if phase. But regrdless of that the that I think that the plastic you are hitting does not make anyone happy. There is no life or caracter in th heads. Half dead. .. If that is the quality like with jazz, useless.Sounds like hard hitting rock skins to me. Sorry.
Did anybody else notice the lick at 5:50 😂
?

Yamaha PHX or Hybrid Maple with 18" Bassdrum + Remo Ambassador coated + Paiste Masters/Signature Traditionals
High quality sound recording!
Good work ! Congratulation !
Gretsch amazing
Evans UV1 are super versatile drum heads . Are useful for a lot of styles and jazz is not far behind either. Highly recommended!
They are the most durable heads I've ever seen.
was that Florian Alexandru Zorn playing the drums? loved those MC Jazz HiHats! I have the Istanbul-Mehmet Tony williams set :)n
Yes, he was
İstanbul Cymbals will be the best every time. Past, present and future. İstanbul is the best cymbal factory.

On the Broadkaster at lease.
The 1st bass drum is tuned so tight it's an F# 3. Second one is close to an A
I like jazz
Edit: 0:14 eh, I saw a piccolo. That’s my instrument.
6:40 why is this reminding me of west side story
The kick has far too much gain. Less muffling should be used too.
Sonor + Evans + Zildjian Constantinople
It is Istanbul tho
Id rather use remo
What are the bottom heads? Same as top? Hmm. Does no good to just tell us the top heads.
Charles T. Primm id assume probably just the stock ones, so probably like a clear 1 ply kinda thing
How the hell did you play the hihat that fast
Moeller technique and finger strokes
It’s bebop jazz

I like your vids but ditch the horrible digital voice would you? Makes very difficult to watch even though the content is excellent.
