this game was ridiculous hard in the arcade but everyone kept playing it because of the strange surrealist stages. I never met anyone that could get past the 3rd stage.
Shortcuts/checkpoints can get you up to lvl 7 if you like playing the lategame! There's one that takes you from 1-1 to 3-1, another that takes you from 3-1 to 5-1, and a final warp from 5-3 to 7-1 (Google has the details!) You can also resume where you died by running to the back corner in 1-1 and jumping. Hope this helps! Love this game so much 💜
game outright says "I give up: you win" to be honest if I ever saw a real person moving that fast from those trees in the last level, I would also instantly give up trying at this game
Yeah I remember 6-3 (tree wave 2) was as far as I ever got irl. It took many plays just to get into level 6 with enough lives to get through tree wave 1, and to go through all that just to find out that you basically have to beat it twice…that’s one of the most savagely designed games I’ve ever played; never went back after that, just settling for the fact that I flipped the Atari 2600 port of this. Cool video though; I don’t think I’d actually ever seen how this game ends before this.
This is awesome. Any chance you could do one from the start using ONLY the warps at 1-1, 3-1 & 5-3 and finishing from there. I've put up an 830K at MARP last week like this but with a bunch of mistakes, think 850K is definitely doable, maybe even 860K
Good idea, I will probably make this when I will have the time. I went to see your replay, good job. You are much better than me 😊, I find it hard to play with a mouse.
Do you know you can warp to level 3 from the original screen? go backstage behind the first castle and jump. I know all the warps on this game. I almost beat it but they took the game system out one day (I only played the arcade) in the 80's.
Did you know that I made more than one video of this game? For a video with warps watch: ua-cam.com/video/3r-vpROBoOs/v-deo.html The only way to get the highest possible score is to not warp. As far as I know, 935,997 is the highest score for this game on the internet (without cheating). Thanks for visiting.
Guys, this is a bot playing, or essentially a modified version where the game is playing itself. No one can play that perfectly. I was once very close to having the national high score on this game in the arcade with somewhere in the neighborhood of 857,000 points. As a programmer, I'm far more impressed with the programming required to get it to play like that.
Oh, I see now. Didn't read the part about it being a TAS (Tool Assisted Superplay). That concept is new to me. Very cool, though. Being able to get an AI to play like that would have been kind of scary, actually.
Yah, no AI 🙁 It took me over a week of work to make a video like this. I programmed my own editor and modified MAME to receive commands from my editor. If you want to see what my setup look like: ua-cam.com/users/Prog61community

A lil easter egg, you can change the lettering of the first levels castles to your initials from getting the high score, in this case it was "TAS"
@Carlee Gana oh ok

What a joy to see this again - the music, the sound effects...true time travel! Thanks for posting 🙏
Wow! Well done! I used to play the original arcade game in the 80s. Watching this gave me lots of happy nostalgia. Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Doing each level optimally seemed pretty straight forward, but then tree wave happened
My fav arcade game. Great play through. If there was ever a game that deserved a sequel...
Looked like you died on level 7 while getting the last gem.
I had no idea this game was so awesome and seemingly impossible at higher levels
This was my favorite game, used to play it on the Atari's 20th Anniversary game
This game was my early childhood... 🥹🥺
Just played this game for the first time ever today and enjoyed it so much

Awesome! My ringtone is when you pick up the magic hat lol! And those trees were NOT Playing around!
Crystal Castles is a classic game.
Crystal Castles 2: Bentley on Crack
Ye that's right!
Great playthrough, but why is Bentley bear on steroids?.
This game was absolutely bonkers.
Bently been slamming Adderal
All those win 'save you initials apis must have been common because they all have the same sound effect.
Looks cute and fun!!! I want a bear plushie called Bentley now!! ☺️☺️☺️

Cool I just mentioned the warps. I remember there was one on crossroads too and the level that you warp to after 1-1.
Was that bowling ball looking thing the ball from Marble Madness?
Bentley Bear's Crystal COFFEE!
Ending theme like _Tom and Jerry : A Nut Cracker Tale_
11:59 when you cheat death
why do old games like these have to check ram, rom, etc. before startup?
To help the arcade operators. Even modern computers do a self test.
You must be a video whiz!
Thanks but I am not that good. This is a TAS, read the definition here: ua-cam.com/users/Prog61about
TURBO BEAR ACTIVATE
