You really SHOULD share your 5km splits with subscribers. I fully expected your 5km splits to get slower as the race progressed, but hell no, you showed 98% of us how to close off a marathon during your last 7km. I have run more road marathons than I can remember , but NEVER have I achieved such close to perfect pacing as you did. Not even the ELITES run faster in the last 7km, check out their splits, I have already checked the mens and womens winners splits. Lovely to see your emotion at the end, genuine, honest emotion and you have every reason to be super PROUD of yourself. Onwards and upwards. Much admiration and some more, from Paris. Yes, my city but I was too lazy to go down to watch on Sunday but I am inspired to run this marathon for a 2nd time in 2025.

I started getting emotional before you even started! It’s so amazing to see you start to come out the other side of EBV. I know how hard it is to do what you love when the chronic fatigue has other plans. Running and post EBV fatigue don’t mix all that well. Years later I still have to be careful but I didn’t know back then that I had EBV or what the consequences were if I didn’t slow down and rest. Being gaslit by doctors certainly delayed the healing. The fact that you maintained your pace at that heart rate is a testament to your mental fortitude and all the hard work you’ve put in. Nourish your body and mind and rest for as long as you need. Remember, you CAN do hard things! I’m so proud of you!!! ❤
Dear Flora, I almost got tears at the end when you started to cry. How brave of you to show your vulnerability! Paris was my first marathon in 2016 and I also havent run one since 5 years now. My next one will be Amsterdam in 2026 where I also work and live close by. This is my first video and looking forward to see more. I already have the feeling that you have been through a lot? Hi Flora, I just wanted to say that your experience helped me through my first 1/4 marathon in Rotterdam yesterday :-) (which has the best atmosphere ever btw) I was very nervous because I’m not a runner naturally (sports in general are not my talent) but knowing that you could complete a marathon with high HR from the beginning cured my anxiety and helped me get through the race and not panic when it got hard. It was my longest run everrr! I had such a wonderful experience and enjoyed every second of it without focusing on time and HR. Now Im planning to run a half and eventually a full marathon. 😊 So a massive THANK YOU for sharing your setbacks, fears and wins ❤ it inspires me to continue running even though it gets hard sometimes.

I did the half marathon in Paris with my son on the 3rd of march. So nice to see some familiar sites. We went trough Bois de Vincennes also and the finish at Place de la Bastille. Well done!

I held back to watch this video for the end of my work week. Unexpectedly started tearing up the first time that finish line came to view. Thought I had it under control but then you crossed the finish and that was it for me. The floodgates just opened. Couldn’t tell who was sobbing more and I wasn’t even the one running. Still trying to figure out what came over me. That was incredible. Well done. Now you get to go home and recover, binging on episodes of good vibes of Ted Lasso. Félicitations!

It brought back memories of my first (and only) marathon - the beautiful Capetown Peninsula Marathon in Jan 1989 which I ran at virtually the same pace and time as you did here clocking a PR at 21km to boot. I ran it too but it was a miserable day for me as I was just coming out of a flu, coughing all the way long, ending in more than 5h. But hey, that was so beautiful run, I'm thinking of doing it again (but shhh that's my secret). Well done again, fantastic run!

It’s evident that you’re a true trail runner-a traditional road runner would have quit with all the ailments you encountered along this race, but you stayed positive, pushed through, believed it could get better again…and “who needs a heart anyway?”!!! Great job! You’re an inspiration! (Oh, and my 5 year old daughter has just gotten into running with me and only wears crocs 😂. She can smash a 13-14 min mile though!)

I ran Paris this year also. Ran it 3 times now. First time on the new course. Much prefer the extra around Opera etc at the beginning than when I ran it last in 2015.
I was there!! I felt every bit of this. I had trained well but I felt rubbish literally from the start! It was too humid for me. But what about amazing race, beautiful course and the crowd support was amazing. I have loved reliving this through your video. Congratulations to you for a great race!!! ❤

Woot woo!! Nice work lady. Thank you for sharing your goal race time my first marathon was 4:30 and I was so upset. Thank you for showing that someone with your fitness level wasn’t out there to try to run as fast as possible and regret it later. This blog gave me the confidence I needed to just get it done! I ran Paris this year also. Ran it 3 times now. First time on the new course. Much prefer the extra around Opera etc at the beginning than when I ran it last in 2015.

I was there!! I felt every bit of this. I had trained well but I felt rubbish literally from the start! It was too humid for me. But what about amazing race, beautiful course and the crowd support was amazing. I have loved reliving this through your video. Congratulations to you for a great race!!! ❤
