Hi Amy, I haven’t had a drink for 3 years at Christmas. I didn’t drink much, hardly a glass of wine a week, however it’s never bothered me not drinking and letting others enjoy there’s. It keeps you focused and fresh and to be honest I don’t miss it. I relax by cycling, walking my bearded collie Finn and playing my guitar. Thank you Amy and Kyle for another great year of videos. Can’t wait to see what you do in 2025 👍

I'm also a mountain biker. Riding on the roads is terrifying. At least where I live anyway. I have no interest in road cycling, but Amy and Kyle are cool, so that's why I'm subbed and watch every video.

Are we different, or are we all the same, so many of us cycling, running, hiking up some hills with our best friends (dog). Just no one knows as it’s less socially :-) I also make up names for things, that stick I forget what they are really called, go to bed early, don’t like social drinking. I know how you feel, I feel a bit like that this Christmas as it's my first one without drinking so it's difficult to get carried away with games etc. like you do when drink is involved. The truth is though, most need and rely on drink to have a good time which is quite sad when you think about it and you just enjoy life itself, especially evidenced in how much you love it out on the bike, where you say you feel you fit in etc. That's a good thing and the right thing. Alternatively you could have stayed in drinking and playing games then feeling demotivated over the next few days and wouldn't get on the bike. Sorry, I feel that's become a bit of a rant but really I just wanted to say you shouldn't feel you don't fit in when you are just doing what you love, staying healthy and enjoying life. Good for you, keep it up, we all love your videos and Happy New Year, can't wait for your big challenge. 👍

Great work! Absolutely agree the headwind does make you stronger! Im the same on the bike I generally drink loads but on the bike i get carried away and forget to drink!
you definitely put some serious miles in and are not phased by the weather. fantastic effort. with all these miles i have a suggestion: do a home bike mechanics coarse and save yourself a fortune by doing your own hydraulic brakes, headset bearings, chains, bottom brackets. you will go through these quickly with all these winter miles. then in the future you will be able to custom build your own bikes, which is so satisfying. happy new year and ride on.

I went on a 20 mile ride in the wind today (almost used the wind as an excuse not to go but glad I’m didn’t). It was so windy, that freewheeling down a long hill I didn’t need to use the brakes, and almost had to peddle just to keep up with a walker. Off onto a 30 mile ride tomorrow, my longest ride to date. Thanks for the inspiration! So glad I found yours and Kyle’s channel.

Your videos over the last few weeks have made me go out again and I just love it …….. it’s made me fall in love with my bike all over again…… So I thank you for that !!!!! One question I do have is what garmin unit do you use and what mount …….. I’ve got the 810 and I need to update it

I completely understand what you mean. A few hours of socialising is draining. Getting on the bike on your own is a way to recharge. I swear my social battery drains 10x faster when the sun goes down
Very impressive stats for the year Amy. 👋12310 MILES. 1000+ miles a month. 230+ miles a week. Happy and safe riding in 2025. Out of interest have you ever compared your elevation from your Garmin and Strava after a ride? I find Strava to be way out. IMHO I'm 100% sure it's not accurate, on the high side.

There's an old story( I think it may be Chinese) about a miner who finds a genie and wishes to be royalty with one wish , becomes king and is happy till all the crops fail , he wishes again to be the wind and the rain and is happy until he cannot blow over the mountain. His final wish is to be the mountain and is happy till he feels a miner chipping away at him . Don't worry about noise and stuff stressing you out it's understandable and I can't imagine the people partying would be able to manage a 100 mile bike ride it's all perspectives
I have a new goal that you may be interested in. You have to cycle the equivalent distance of 1 light year, and you have the rest of your life to complete it. Nobody has ever done this before, so it will be a world record. Good luck 😂 Well done on the 12000 by the way.

That was a beautiful ride to end the year, shame about the wind but it beats the snow and ice up here in Scotland😉No rides for 6 days here, its a beautiful day today but too dangerous! All the best for 2025😊6561 miles with 423,098 ft of climbing was my stats for the year, you put me to shame😉

Out of interest have you ever compared your elevation from your Garmin and Strava after a ride? I find Strava to be way out. IMHO I'm 100% sure it's not accurate, on the high side.

I’ve never really drank I’m not a fan of the taste 😂 I used to drink a little bit when I went out with friends in Uni years but I was never a fan of it! Thanks ☺️ and well done!

There's an old story( I think it may be Chinese) about a miner who finds a genie and wishes to be royalty with one wish , becomes king and is happy till all the crops fail , he wishes again to be the wind and the rain and is happy until he cannot blow over the mountain. His final wish is to be the mountain and is happy till he feels a miner chipping away at him .
Don't worry about noise and stuff stressing you out it's understandable and I can't imagine the people partying would be able to manage a 100 mile bike ride it's all perspectives

No I had a bar too, lunch, chai latte & flapjack at the cafe ☺️ I don’t film everything I eat, usually I eat while I’m riding so I can’t film because I don’t have enough hands 😂
Do u ever do 60-120 grams of carbs per hr?
@@amy.cycling.adventures of course I get that. But do u track ur carb intake or use a fueling strategy? I listen to a coach say if ur super hungry after a ride u don’t fuel right.
