Huge kudos to you Flora. Seriously impressed with how level headed you appear despite battling some serious demons. And you filmed so much for all of us as well, that couldn’t have been easy either. You’ve shown tremendous heart, take all the time you need to recover. Best wishes. ❤❤❤
CONGRATULATIONS!! I actually shed tears at the end, and I'm so glad you had friends/co-sufferers there at the finish to share that emotion with! You did incredible, even while stopping to love on the furry spectators! I love your comment about knowing when to rest and not to quit. And I know that weird knee pain so well... unless I'm well- trained for the distance/ terrain, which rarely happens, I usually get excruciating knee pain at around 24 miles that lasts the rest of the race. The thing is, I know now that the pain will disappear within an hour of stopping, with no injuries resulting... so I have to push through the agony and convince myself it's just my brain trying to force my body to stop. That doesn't make it hurt less though. 😂 Wishing you a quick recovery, and looking forward to seeing what you do in the meantime!
Thanks Kelly! Yes it's funny what the mind can push your body through, with a little practise 😅 I think that's what half of ultra training is - pushing through discomfort & getting comfortable being uncomfortable. Which I've had a lot recently!
Hey don't know if this helps you any but have you tried (it's hard i found) trying different, as in shorter, stride lenghts through the run (feel's weird as hell initially) with a quicker cadence. I did this some years ago when rehabilitating from a ACL/PCL repair and helped reduce the knee joint stress and it helped me alot. I found it best to experiment on the tread rather than outdoors and all i can say is it made a difference for me.
Firstly HUGE CONGRATULATIONS! A mammoth effort given how you were feeling. Thankyou for allowing us to share this amazing, emotional journey with you🙏. Such beautiful scenery and such a tough race and you achieved Goal A!!🎉 But….the finish….had me in bits, the tears….you could easily see how much this meant to you ❤ Enjoy your R&R 🥰
Such a good video. I ran OCC in 2022, suffered a lot, been on the trail till nightfall. Your video brings a lot of memories. And now I need to do it again. Thank you!
@@FloraBeverley thanks, first time watching you, thought wow this girl got some balls, probably could of used a different turn of phrase, what motivates you and of course many others as I saw yesterday, where do you get the urge from to test your body and mind from ?
Massive Congratulations Flora! I shed a tear at the end of this video with you! I have loved watching your videos the past couple of years but this is probably the most inspirational one I've seen so far, not because it was easy but to see your mental strength and resilience which plays such a huge part in running(and life!) of any kind. It would have been so understandable if you weren't able to start or had to DNF this race at any point with what you've been dealing with but you took it on one step at a time with so much positivity, you should be so proud of yourself, well done!
Flora, congratulations on the race, and the video. For the first time I see reflected in a video the emotions this race gives, not only for the toughness if not the sensation of accomplishment. Very proud, and inspiring.
My daughter just ran this 2 days ago. It’s wonderful of you to share this video. Lets me see where she ran and the views. Thank you! You, as well as all the runners are amazing!
Well done Flora! So inspiring. Thank you for filming through your suffering - it's empowering to see how you worked through the exhaustion and pain. I have my first 50k coming up and have been watching your videos endlessly because you are such an inspiration to me. Hope you enjoy your well-earned recovery and rest 🥰
Wow Flora! This might just be my favourite video of yours to date (and I’ve been here for many years) ❤️ The emotion of your finish really got to me and I started crying with you and just couldn’t stop! Thank you for showing all the sides running has to offer❤️
thank you so much! I never know how much of the struggles to show, but that's real ultra running for you. Thank you so much for watching & for your support
That was a very emotional and touching finish. I was happy to see the route once again (I did the race in 2016) with some changes, even more amazing. Awesome work!
Wow this is amazing thank you for the amazing video. Im a 53 year old runner from flat pancake Kuwait desert , I finished OCC 2 years ago and it was themost challenging race Ive ever done. I still can’t believe I finished it I even have the vest displayed as an art piece 😂 I love watching occ videos while doing my treadmill training. Thank you so much and congratulations ❤
There is no need to say sorry for not having a normal cheery video. You just smashed this race, feeling like S##t, not managing to train they way you wanted. It also shows us the true emotions and effort taken. Which we all want to see, as in the good, the bad, and the ugly. And you battled all the demons in the head that wanted you to stop. This race has made you mentally stronger. So enjoy your break from running, and I hope you recover well Cracking video as always. Love seeing the courses and views and longer vlogs etc.
Thank you for sharing the struggle, and release of emotion at the end! This was the kind of rare video that captured the smiles and struggles along the way, and motivates me to keep training for a similar experience. Your reaction to the bridge near the end, and the tears upon crossing the finish line were fantastic!
Great job Flora 🥳🥳 definitely looked like a struggle 😔 which makes your completion even more impressive 💪💪 mind over matter 🙏🏻 lots of animals to keep you company & it really did look so pretty 😍🏔️⛰️ definitely tempted to try this some year, enjoy your recovery 🤗
wow wow wow! I can't love this video enough. The pure unfiltered pain during and utter joy at finished is something i'll keep coming back to for sure. I'm SO delighted you got to finish and your body held out. Honestly, the mental power to get through that was incredible. I have just been in the lakes and doing some of those hills was brutal but nothing compared to what you went through. Every time we were trekking up a hill we thought was tough we thought back to how much higher and tougher these were and soon put ourselves into check. I hope you are still clinging onto that medal with utter pride!!
I'm so proud of how you smashed the race especially taking into consideration the challenges. It makes me so happy that you're providing everyone content of a successful runner with all its pros and cons, real hardships and obstacles. Sending u lots of love

Yo Flora....well done. It was good to hear you talk throughout and generally a little negative towards yourself...as I do that to myself on those runs. (Probably something we need to work on!!) I totally endorse saying hi to animals...that and giving kids high fives is good psychological boosting! I was really happy when near the end you came to this sudden realization that you were going to complete the distance. I know that feeling of thinking I'll be okay...to wanting to quit...to plodding along...to holy sh!t I'm gonna do this! I believe that is the magic of doing these tough things where you overcome so much adversity and persevere. It's a lesson only you can experience for yourself, and it is so powerful for you as you continue on your life journey!

That looked beautify but brutal! Well done Flora, inspirational! I've just gained some appreciation for this kind of achievement - ran my first ultra on Sunday - 35 miles, 5.6k feet climb. Longest run before that was 1`7 miles so just had one goal - get back before the cut-off! 25C made it more about managing hydration than anything else.
Great blog Flora and conditions looked really good, super congrats and also for sharing the natural emotions at the end. Have to say thought your goals at the start A,B & C were excellent, that in itself is a challenge when competative to enjoy, appreciate the moment rather than be obsessed with performance (all to easy) and miss the enjoyment (albeit through pain)! Did you get the mental (motivation) thought on the descent from La Flegere its only a super downhill on steroids park run left ;-). Agree with what you were saying about the mind, the body can do incredible things, its always the mind that give's in first. Hope you get some good rest in!
Huge congratulations, amazing that you carried on despite pain. What a warrier. I'm leaving for Mont Blanc tomorrow on a 3 day event- can't wait to see those views.

Agree with what you were saying about the mind, the body can do incredible things, its always the mind that give's in first. Hope you get some good rest in!
Thank you so much!! Yes I had to let go of any competitive spirit for this one & just run as much and as far as I could. It was epic.
This is really authentic and inspiring Flora. So well done to overcome your doubts and fears and injury issues. Best video ever💖💃🏼
Thank you so much!! ❤️
Oh how I miss climbing Col de Balme
Haha climbing col de balme was definitely a low point of my race 😆 but it is beautiful!!
Great job done. Awesome trail and you did just too good. 🎉🎉
Well I’ve just found your channel. And I’m loving it! Well done Flora 👍👍
Welcome! 🤗
Huge congratulations, amazing that you carried on despite pain. What a warrier. I'm leaving for Mont Blanc tomorrow on a 3 day event- can't wait to see those views.
Sounds amazing, hope you're having a great time!
You've made up my mind for me, I'm going to take part in the utmb next year. Looks unreal. Huge well done.
Epic!! Enjoy 👏🏼
Amazing views. Thanks for sharing them. Inspiring, gritty effort. Congrats!
Have been so looking forward to this 🏃♀️❤️
Well done Flora. Very very impressive. 👏👏👏
I started OCC (3rd wave) but was way too slow and pulled out early. Need to set my heights not so high!
Ah no I'm sorry! It's a tough race for sure, but I'm sure you'll complete it someday. The hills are wild 🤯
Flora, I enjoyed your video during a zone 2 workout on the treadmill
. It was Amazing, like I was myself running the OCC
Thanks for sharing. I was crying me too at the end😢 you made me emotional
You actually filmed while running and talking….impressive
Been following you for 4 years, what an achievement this was for you!
Thank you so much for your support over the years! So much has changed in that short time 😊
