Good job on the comparison and review. I might add one thing that may be important to some viewers. The TemboTusk is designed, manufactered and assembled in America. It is an American made product. Thank you.
American-made does not guarantee quality that is obviously lacking here. You can tug on the heart strings all you want, but it wont make the product any better.
@@RhinoOffroad well, if you think along those lines, you are running of things to be proud of. You are driving an american icon, with Italian engine and German transmission, likely assembled in Mexico. For me, quality comes first, but I would opt in for equal quality American-made any day. Yet one thing I will never do is buy Toyota or Land Rover, or Mercedes adventure vehicle for that matter. So as long as Jeep does not have a Fiat logo on it :) Btw; love that American-native elephant on the logo. Very authentic.
I have a skottle and love it and wouldn’t switch based on one thing - no teflon coating. Although there is an ease of cleaning, it is a toxic chemical. About 10 years ago I got rid of all chemical coated cooking pots and pans, opting for cast iron and stainless. The skottle fits my lifestyle and I would highly recommend it to anyone. Absolutely.
I got a I kamper Discomfor my husband for the Christmas gift. I am a Korean and very impressed with the quality of it and I think we're going to use it many more years to come.😊
I have both and ikamper wins hands down. It’s more modular (diff ways to use it like over a fire hanging, the stove can be used as stand alone to cook on a frying pan etc, and then regular way to use it) more features (skottle handles, better cutting board)and better quality materials (non stick skottle can be cleaned with just soap and water, the whole set up feels premium)… tembo is not bad but after using the ikamper one I never went back..
@@alfonsotrillo68 my tembo bag zipper broke (quality issues) so I haven’t even tried it to be honest.. it’s about the same size I don’t see why it wouldn’t work
Had it for a year and I use silicone or wood spatula and surface still look like brand new. I wipe it with oil before storage. As long as you take care of your stuff, it will last.
There nice, but seems to be a little small. I suppose if your out camping with 1 or 2 people would be great. At home I have the 24inch Carolina Cooker Disco that I love. A whole lot cheaper and great quality.
Thats not Teflon on the disco, it’s enamel. Also, you should clean your disco in the same fashion the skottle was cleaned, without the oil rub post cleaning.
Excellent video. Do you think that the SKOTTLE CARRY BAG Set can be used to store the ikamper in a practical and safe way? I'm considering buying that bag since the one sold at ikamper doesn't look good
Appreciate it! Great question. I think it would be really close, but I can't confirm either way unfortunately. I actually don't mind the bags the Disco comes with
They both are great. Well done on the review. I still can't get over the price tags. 💰🤑 These types of cookers have been used in Mexico and South America for decades, and can be picked up for $20 to $40 bucks 😮😢
How have they managed to take cooking equipment used over most of Europe / Africa etc for centuries , re name it as a new invention, times the price by 20 and then re sell it
Between teardrop camper prices and this, you need to make 6 figures to afford to go camping... IMHO, anything attached to a name like "overlanding", will cost your shorts
Overlanding has been the go to phrase to sell off-road/camping gear for years now. I laugh at it. Most people are not "overlanding". Not many are actually crossing continents. People have been off-road camping for over 100 years and only recently was this term coined. Silly. Keep on overlanding. I'll stay a camper who off-roads all over the southwest US.
I totally hear what you're saying, but I'd also argue that the definition of the word "overlanding" doesn't really matter. I think what most of us are referring to is buying overpriced gear to spend days on end driving while searching for the next killer campsite to enjoy an ice cold beer with friends. At the end of the day, as long as people are enjoying what they're doing and why they're doing it, does it really matter what you call it?
1st off Teflon is a Dupont chemical they created and pregnant mothers gave birth to deformed babies.. BUUUT just saw the correction. And I'll go with the Ikamper plus I like thos handles
@@GladysJeannette I happened to be miles from Internet when I filmed this (as I should be) and failed to look it up beforehand. Appreciate you checking the comments 🤙
I was way out of cell service when we filmed this, so I didn't have all the exact details (so I accidentally called it Teflon). It's actually enamled-cast iron, so no worries on the materials there.
Big error I made in the review: the Disco is a Meehanite Cast Iron (not Teflon as I stated)!
Good job on the comparison and review. I might add one thing that may be important to some viewers. The TemboTusk is designed, manufactered and assembled in America. It is an American made product. Thank you.
Hey Jerry, thanks for that addition! That is incredibly important, and I appreciate you keeping business here in the US.
The ikamper is Korean made so at least it’s still well crafted
American-made does not guarantee quality that is obviously lacking here. You can tug on the heart strings all you want, but it wont make the product any better.
For me it's less a function of quality as it is a concern of where my money is going and whose economy it's supporting.

I misspoke in the video as I was way out in the wilderness and couldn't look it up. It's a meehanite cast iron material, not Teflon

Totally agree!
Great video Kevin! What a great comparison between two great products! And an EPIC location to boot!
Thanks for a great review. I have the Disco and it is the go to cooking appliance for most our outdoor cooks. The Disco has an ignition button.
I had no idea about the ignition and a buddy sent me a message earlier asking if mine was broken haha!

Yeah heard of salt and pepper. Maybe a little garlic. Btw cooked tortillas are delicious. Cool background
Nicely done! Great editing, and whoever the camera guy was, he was on point!! 😂👊🏼 Looking forward to the full trip videos coming! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
The taste-tester is really the unsung hero of this thing.
Thanks bud!
@@RhinoOffroad hahahah #cameo! 👊🏼
Sold my Tembo then got the Ikamper from the kickstarter campaign. Best decision ever.
Oh really? What were the features that converted you?
@@RhinoOffroad Honestly Aesthetic’s first, modern, and functionality. Very well thought. Could not think of another innovation that would beat this.
What coating are you referring to? It's Mehanite cast iron.
Had it for a year and I use silicone or wood spatula and surface still look like brand new. I wipe it with oil before storage. As long as you take care of your stuff, it will last.
@@xploradventures have been doing the same and a totally agree. Has held up very well! Have you cooked with it over a fire yet?
Thank you. Disco is the obvious choice here.
I prefer how the tembo tusk is attached to the legs. I don’t like how the ikamper disc moves around. Just my 2 cents. Great video.
Quality, comprehensive review. Thank you!
Got the disco series for 338 on cyber Monday boiiisssss 💯
That's a killer price!
You should get a wind deflector for that Tembo Tusk. Sure adds to your cooking time when the burner's flame is getting blown to the side.
Fair point, though that's one more thing you have to carry around with you which I am trying to prevent
I went with the Tembo! Dont think you could go wrong with either one!
Totally agree with you. I haven't heard of really anyone who has bought either and regretted it
Damn you guys really made tacos with uncooked tortillas. Y’all are wild.
Hahaha. You're not wrong; thay didn't even cross my mind.
That's what I was looking at too... like dang !! Savages 😅 they also used FLOUR tortillas for tacos 🌮 😭😭😭 Dios mio!!
my eyes are burning 🤣
Congratulations first comparison video super helpful
Hey thanks for the support I really appreciate it!
Great video guys! I guess I’ll have to go out and get one now! ☺️
Hahaha. You won't be disappointed. Love your video content; subscribed!
That backdrop is amazing
Yeah it was an incredible location
Great non bias product comparison. Now I want some tacos lol

Can you use the one pound bottles of propane on the iKamper?
Yes you definitely can. It has a holder for the 1lb bottles that comes with it
Thats not Teflon on the disco, it’s enamel. Also, you should clean your disco in the same fashion the skottle was cleaned, without the oil rub post cleaning.
To each their own, I've been boiling water on it and using the wood scraper, then wiping it clean. Works great!

Nice, very useable and versatile and all, but way to pricey .....
@@sim-sam definitely pricey!
How do these handle wind?
Really depends to be honest. In high winds they both suffer since the burners are open on all sides
How have they managed to take cooking equipment used over most of Europe / Africa etc for centuries , re name it as a new invention, times the price by 20 and then re sell it
I think they call it "the American dream" haha
Teflon coated? I'll pass for that reason alone. Too bad, because the disco looks nice otherwise.
It's not Teflon I figured out. Fixed myself in the description!
@@RhinoOffroad thanks for correcting and responding. Now I'm excited. Looks so nice.

whats the diameter??
15.75" for the Disco, 18" for the Skottle
