the only optimal way to do preacher curls in cable version: all the other ways put the maximum tesion on the tendon and not on the muscle in the shortened position
Unfunny video. And grinding out last 2 reps like this on a bicep curl is absolutely pointless. Will lead to no greater strength or muscle gains and definitely triples the risk of injury
@@Mimpski You know that guy was on steroids. Most of those muscle tear videos of gym bros training to failure are of juice heads. This matter because their tendon strength is weaker in comparison to their muscle strength. In short the 2 doesn't match up, thus when they max out or train to failure, it makes their unnatty muscles more prone to tear.
Fun fact: Rupturing a tendon or sustaining another similar injury while working out is WAY more common if your on roids because the tendons in your body can't grow fast enough to accommodate your quickly growing muscles.
Yeah I got coaching from a guy who programs for guys on roids and I did 3 months of training with less than 50% of my 1rm before I said fuck it and programmed my own shit. I’m natty but I think he just programs like that for everyone lol
@@krejziks3398 Tendons are non-contractile, training them doesn't make you stronger. Isometrics can make you stronger, but that's because the muscles also get trained. Training your tendons with Isos and Plyos will make the tendon stiffer, which makes it more effective at storing elastic energy. It's not likely to affect your strength on any traditional lift unless you are using a very quick eccentric and a very quick turn around at the bottom.
That video of the double bicep tears........... Is the reason why I never go heavy on preacher curls 😊😊😊😊😊😊 No need to ego lift, light weights work too
You actually do not need to train to muscle failure. A study has shown that if have an RIR (reps in reserve) 1-2 you make better progress and it leads to more muscle gain.
I couldn't watch the video ... If you got injured I'm so sorry about it and am sending swift recovery wishes. However I'm really grateful for you sharing this point because I have intuitively felt that the whole "take every set to failure" type of approach was flawed. I try to just be in touch with my body and definitely challenge it as robustly as I can but also listen for the ways it's not ready to be challenged. Seeing your post title really helped me have confidence in the approach I'm taking to push myself but also not get too close to the line where injury becomes a significant risk. Thank you!
You wouldn't want to train to failure but close to failure for optimal muscle growth. The best muscle growth happens in those last reps plus controlling eccentric with proper technique will give you promised results.
I am not kidding, i worked out for about 6 months and when i was doing the bicep curl to failure i felt something weird in my wrist and when i tried doing it again i felt pain. It has been a couple months now, the weird feeling is still there. I keep seeing this video whenever i searched videos to resolve my issue but none of it worked. This kinda just made me angry i wasnt able to do any exercise involving wrist flexors.
NEVER NEVER preacher heavy... unless you want your life "gym" to end for a year at least. You dont have to preacher at all, so don't do it. It's not natural, and the body hates it a lot. Stick to non restricted movements for bi's and high high reps. 20+. It's a tiny muscle in ratio to your arm. It's essentially the calf of your arm. Look at soccer players' calfs. HUGE. High reps light weight. Be safe. Good luck, men!!

This whole “1 MORE REP, BRO” approach has been debunked time and time again. It’s just ego and the need for instant gratification that’s making it persist.
You shouldn’t drop it fast also start with small weights as a warmup then go to the regular weight also you should try slow and controlled and dont dropped it down fully to reduce risk of tears also make sure preacher curls aint the first exercise in the day to get blood flowing in there.
This particular exercise is not meant to be taken to failure(specially with heavy ass weights) coz ur bicep tendons r at stupid vulnerable position in the eccentric part..!! In other type of safe musculature exercises u do need to train to failure on some basic 1s to c muscle growth(thats just how muscle works unfortunately can't do anything about it bruh)
I don't know if this was a joke or not but you should genuinely listen to your body. Don't half ass your workouts. However there comes a time when your muscles are not in your control. For example, if you're doing shoulder press, and on 3 or 4 set you just can't get past your shoulders no matter how much you push, STOP. If you've to recruit your back or your neck to lift, it's a really bad sign. However don't stop if it's just because it's difficult. I'm saying this after having suffered a bicep tear myself. Thankfully mine is very minor but it happened on an exact curl like this one. So please stay safe guys.
I snapped my bicep tendon off. Required surgery to repair it back onto the bone. Took me about a year to get back and the mental game is worse than the physical game
Preacher curls are not meant to be extreme strength training, meaning 1-2 reps and potentially what he's doing. Once the bicep is fatigued, more tension is placed onto the tendons and overuse will eventually cause the tendons to tear.
I completely agree with this. I trained to failure on my bicep last week on 2 difference exercises and I still feel the tightness and soreness a week later. I took a week off from training them. Never again. I'm sticking with 2-4 RIR for now on.

Going to failure with a weight you can control shouldn't be a problem. This is a very rare injury and another thing, apparently it mostly happens to people using steroids where the muscles grows very quickly but the tendon just doesn't.
