I agree with everything this pastor said about, not being able to judge the eternal state of Tim Keller. But, we can and as this pastor has done , expose the MANY false teachings of Tim Keller. And especially on the most important doctrine, the most essential, salvation Itself. Tim Keller was a compromiser with the culture and let's be honest, he deceived people with his social justice messages, willfully or not he deceived many from the truth. But In the end only God knows If Tim Keller trusted In the true saving gospel of Jesus Christ, or put his faith in a pseudo savior called social justice.

I’ve listened to hundreds of TK sermons, many of them multiple times. He believed in the inerrancy of the Bible. If you had presented your arguments to him while he was alive I think he would’ve listened to you thoughtfully, and if your understanding of any scripture made more sense than his, he would change his mind. The Bible was his ultimate authority. He didn’t correct it, he let it correct him.

I can truthfully say that I have never read any of Mr. Keller's works, or heard any of his teachings, to my knowledge. There may have been a teacher who followed Mr. Keller's theology, but after listening to this podcast I know I would have tuned whomever out and moved on. I always rely on the leading of the Holy Spirit to guide me on my journey to get closer to God and Christ, so perhaps the news of his passing eluded me because he wasn't significant to me. I pray that he had a divine revelation prior to his passing and that he repented. I can't pass judgement on anyone. My job is to follow Jesus Christ; not try to replace Him.

I recently found my pastor failed to acknowledge Billy Graham as a universalist in spite of being presented with a video and him saying so. I think it's was due to fear of offending unbelievers. I decided to not attend any further bible studies with them after been called a legalist. However, I will continue to attend church on the Lord's Day as there's no other church to go to.

That pastor gave a great synopsis of Keller's views, MANY of which were flat out unbiblical and thereby based out of a fear of man rather than a reverential fear of God. The Bible is clear that those who teach in His name are held to a higher standard and will be judged accordingly.

Jeff Kliewer says Timothy Keller’s definition of sin was deficient, because he says Keller said “No one ever learned he was a sinner by being told that they are.”
If Keller had stopped there I would agree with Kliewer, but If you listen to the sermon video in which Keller uses this phrase you will find that Keller is actually quoting from a sermon by John Newton (of Amazing Grace fame), in which Newton says; “No one ever learned they were a sinner by being told, they have to be shown.” Keller uses this full quote including the words “THEY HAVE TO BE SHOWN.”
Why does Kliewer leave out the last part of the quote? Half truths are deceptive.
Looking at the context of this quote by Keller; it comes from the first of two 30 minute sermons called ‘HOW TO BE CHANGED BY THE GOSPEL 1, & 2’, which largely deals with the question of sin. In the first video, Keller speaking from Romans 7 says; “The Apostle Paul says, you are far more evil, you are far more wicked than you want to believe.”
In the second video on Romans 8, Keller says; “People will tell you it is emotionally unhealthy to call yourself evil sinners - it is not ….You are evil.” Why does Jeff Kliewer not use this quote from Keller?
In fact the two sermons by Keller give a deeper understanding of what sin is and the need for all to come to Christ in repentance, depending totally on Him for cleansing and power to change and live for Him.
If Jeff Kliewer seams happy to mis-quote and take out of context what Keller says, has he done the same with the other points in his statement?

BB Warfield the great defender of inerrancy was open to God using evolution to create. Spurgeon and many preachers of his day had no issue accepting that the world was ancient. @@bjn3232 Be that as it may, but I'd like to ask the question where do you believe the Bible Gen 12? Rejecting the creation narrative is suicidal for a Christian, the whole Gospel is right there in Gen 3. When we try to marry evolution with creation we run into problems. Death before the fall, when God clearly says his creation was very good. Death then coming as a result of Sin not through evolutionary process.

I ended up believing that most of the adoration was not so much driven by his Gospel articulation but by his methods and results. Pastors just wanted to copy his techniques in the hopes that they could grow their churches in a big way too, which usually involves some sort of compromise when good old fashioned orthodox preaching is not filling the pews. God knows who is His, hopefully Keller was His, but I pray God give us all wisdom and discernment to recognize when the Bible is being compromised for the sake of getting results.

JESUS TEACHES HIS FOLLOWERS TO JUDGE. "“Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment” (John 7:24, ESV). Other verses indicate how to judge with Righteous Judgment, being to judge yourself first (Matt. 7:1-5) and not making judgment a standard of behavior towards unbelievers (Luke 6:27-38). However, Christians are Required to Judge others who proclaim the faith. The Apostle Paul explained to the church at Corinth, "For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? God judges those outside. Purge the evil person from among you'" (1 Cor. 5:12).
As a Christain, you are Biblically required by God to judge Tim Keller (after judging yourself) and purge that evil away from fellow believers.
Note: that means that Tim Keller is Not a Christain. Why? because the Holy Spirit does Not fail by producing bad fruit, false doctrines, and evil teachings which must be purged.
He was smart enough to get the attention to teach falsely, destroying the church.

I met some of his disciples in Singapore. Very afraid to teach bible simply. Almost afraid to speak the truth in love for fear of being persecuted. Unfortunately his influence is very much alive and is killing the plain and simple gospel. It's so easy to not speak the truth avoiding persecution.

So what are we to make of elders in our churches who were fans of Keller as that’s one of the main reasons I left my prior church a few years ago as I could not be under the leadership of such a man who is either unsaved, or had no discernment and was racked with guilt apparently over his own financial success, but did nothing about it in terms of giving up his house or part of his wealth to a black family. This is a very much needed expose of Keller. Thank you! I have been so disheartened by how many seemingly solid Christian voices have mourned his passing (no judgement here at all) whilst hero worshipping him and his teachings/what he stood for when, as you rightly say, he spoke heresy and a watered down and seeker-sensitive cultural "Christianity". One Christian Instagrammer even went as far to say, when challenged, that it was the chemo meds he was in at the end that resulted in him speaking questionable things 😳🤔 His influence was and sadly will continue to be damaging and insidious. True biblical discernment is woefully lacking in today's wayward church. Keep speaking God's truth unashamedly. The world is in desperate need of it

This is a bizarre statement... One must understand philosophy, on some level at least, for God's Word to be understood as truth.
God's Word itself calls us to seek truth and wisdom, and to understand that scripture is part of that. So, to shun philosophy is to shun the seeking of truth and wisdom.
Now, if someone takes philosophy and turns that into their god, that is certainly idolatry... But just because it is possible for truth seeking to become an idol doesn't mean it always is.
Philosophy leads many people to Christ, as seeking the truth inevitably does.
