I agree with everything this pastor said about, not being able to judge the eternal state of Tim Keller. But, we can and as this pastor has done , expose the MANY false teachings of Tim Keller. And especially on the most important doctrine, the most essential, salvation Itself. Tim Keller was a compromiser with the culture and let's be honest, he deceived people with his social justice messages, willfully or not he deceived many from the truth. But In the end only God knows If Tim Keller trusted In the true saving gospel of Jesus Christ, or put his faith in a pseudo savior called social justice.
There is one thing missed i am wondering if BTWN want to know! Did you know he had a course called way of the monk? And he also does not want to offend the catholics and they love his books because of this.
Well said
You are conflating a political stance with someone’s salvation. Tim Keller was a great Christian man. “Some” of his recent political views may have been troubling but he had an immeasurable impact on people in NYC. Praise God for men like him.
I agree. Well said
@@allensharp6876 how we live out our faith shows what we truly believe. Keller elevated man above the Word of God. Marxism is antichrist and anti gospel..he was a man of compromise. It is not about politics but how we live. How could one support the Nazi party and call themselves a Christian? That is being self decieved. We are called to pick up our Cross and follow Jesus and that involves persecution not comprise.
I’ve listened to hundreds of TK sermons, many of them multiple times. He believed in the inerrancy of the Bible. If you had presented your arguments to him while he was alive I think he would’ve listened to you thoughtfully, and if your understanding of any scripture made more sense than his, he would change his mind. The Bible was his ultimate authority. He didn’t correct it, he let it correct him.
Thank you for posting this Tim. I love how this man systematically presented the belief system of Keller.
I can truthfully say that I have never read any of Mr. Keller's works, or heard any of his teachings, to my knowledge. There may have been a teacher who followed Mr. Keller's theology, but after listening to this podcast I know I would have tuned whomever out and moved on. I always rely on the leading of the Holy Spirit to guide me on my journey to get closer to God and Christ, so perhaps the news of his passing eluded me because he wasn't significant to me. I pray that he had a divine revelation prior to his passing and that he repented. I can't pass judgement on anyone. My job is to follow Jesus Christ; not try to replace Him.
Thank you brother for your boldness to share this. This is a well needed critique since so many are deceived by Tim Keller.
This was truly a balanced approach to reviewing Keller's beliefs and teachings. So well done. My church just quoted Keller in the bulletin. It was a good quote however I knew this man's position on the gospel. I think there is a great deal of compromise going on in many churches. I believe we need to mark and avoid them. Also expose them in a Biblical way. Thank you for this!
In regards to his pseudo support of the BLM riots saying that riots are born of people not being heard … I am curious if he echoed the same thoughts around the people involved in January 6th?
Love the pastor you put on here. Genesis 1 is so important! Spurgeon and others didn’t have to “adjust” the church, that’s why they lived in a more moral society and why we’re living in the Romans 1 society. 💔😢
However Surgeon said “We do not know how remote the period of creation of this globe maybe - certainly many millions of years before the time of Adam. Our planet has passed through many stages of existence, and different kinds of creatures have lived on its surface, all of which have been fashioned by God”
That commentary was masterful! More like this!!
Who is this pastor, his name?
We have criticized Ravi Zacharias, and now Tim Kellor. Would we stand up to such scrutiny? Lord help us to be faithful to your word.
That is why it says in James 3:1 "Let not many of you become become teachers... for you will incur stricter judgement" the ability to influence many people and become a stumbling block especially in today's world makes this an entirely different context..and as fo Ravi Zacharias... it's not about criticizing.. it;s about addressing sin in the church as in
1 Cor 5:9-13
Christians all have flaws but we MUST expose false teachers!
Thank you for "contending earnestly for the faith once for all delivered to the saints,"
I was part of a Baptist Church where Keller was an influence. The moment I disagreed with something he said, I was asked why was I going against a pillar of the church? To some if you disagree with Keller, you are "touching the Lord's Anointed."
Happens so much 😅n calvinist / reformed groups. All is Tulips until a few petals shrivel.
What a disturbed group of people who subscribe to calvinism / reformed theology .
I saw similar when I was in the independent fundamental Baptists church years ago. Disagree with them and they will run you out the door. Don’t touch the Man of god!
Sounds familiar * cough * GCC * cough *
I can agree with you. As a member of a Baptist Church, when I raised that Tim Keller was a false teacher, the pastor and elders accused me of undermining their authority, bringing division into the church and I was wrong and they were right.
@@truthseeker5698 Keep seeking the truth... good luck with the alternative to the Gospel according to the books of Romans dear bro !
I think when you avoid the truth of scripture, your not born again. I recently found my pastor failed to acknowledge Billy Graham as a universalist in spite of being presented with a video and him saying so. I think it's was due to fear of offending unbelievers. I decided to not attend any further bible studies with them after been called a legalist. However, I will continue to attend church on the Lord's Day as there's no other church to go to.
Tim Keller was ashamed of the gospel, as I have listened to him in the past.
Yes, Larry King interviews of BG. BG was clearly afraid of offending someone. His political association is further evidence of that.
Good move to stop attending bible study with them and meanwhile you can start looking for a church that stands for the truth of the gospel. We see so many pastors and church leaders who are afraid to say what the text says. "I am the way the truth and the life no one can come to the father but by me"
@@john318john the only, thing is it took me years to find this church. Part of that reason is they don't put the information online. I had almost given up before I found a Lutheran Church, wasn't brilliant but was better than the rest, I was looking and stumbled across this current church. I think it's the only church on the island that's Reformed, holds to the doctrine of grace. I move houses and although I still have to catch a bus to get there it's still a bit closer than to travel from my new home to the Lutheran Church. To be honest with you don't know if there's any churches they are mostly pentecostal church of the worst kind. Apart from those there all the other evanglical churches and the cults.

Billy Graham was a 33rd degree mason and it s a fact that to reach that level one must take an oath to Lucifer
Secondly, if one researches, it is a fact that Billy Graham endorsed ecumenism, especially with the Pope.
I commend this young man for speaking the truth about Tim Keller. Hes probably going to get a lot of flack for this, but those who are true to the gospel often do. The more I hear about Keller the worse things sound. The bible says youre either for me or against me.Tim Keller sounds like so many who sadly take their stand on both sides of the fence; not sold out to Christ.
Never followed Tim Keller myself but this is surely eye opening how easy a person can be sucked into ones belief system good work
This is anything but good work.
Thank you for sharing this video. Very helpful for us who aren't so updated. Praise God for His great care of His people to be led in righteousness 🙏🙌
I agree with the speaker that Christians who suffer from same-sex attraction should be looking to God to free them from this.
It is a mistake for someone just to assume that a person in this category will have to be that way for their whole life.
Thank you for posting this . The majority of Pastors wouldn’t have had the courage .
He has always worried me, mainly because his influence seeped into the Reformed churches and it was very difficult to get people to
re-evaluate their views on him. Always unsettling to hear so many Preachers quoting him.
My personal view is that Keller has done enormous damage with his cowardly compromise and his blurring of the truth of the gospel.
Agree with you. Thank you. May the Lord judge
Thanks for this. I knew some of this but he was worse than I knew. I have been very disturbed hearing so many Christian voices saying "what a great teacher he was" since he has died.
I have heard about Tim Keller through a church that I used to attend for the first time and I had no clue who he was but heard his quotes during church services all the time. I got a little tired of hearing his name. This man was apparently well known in that church especially by the pastor.
I never felt spiritually comfortable about his teachings.
@@jeffdavis7543 That was the Holy Spirit. He warns us that "something is wrong" even when we may not know the details.
Thanks be to God. I hardly hardly listened to Tim Kelly, somewhat i was sceptical of him years ago!
I recently listened Dr Keller's comment on homosexuality and the repentance was never showed up. Instead, a word, greed, came up. It is true that we are all sinners. But we cannot follow Christ without turning away from sin. Sad.
That pastor gave a great synopsis of Keller's views, MANY of which were flat out unbiblical and thereby based out of a fear of man rather than a reverential fear of God. The Bible is clear that those who teach in His name are held to a higher standard and will be judged accordingly.
The idea one can "reach more people by telling less of what God has said" is foundationally flawed.
Have you personally read Tim Kellers books and commentaries on scripture? Baa, baa. You are being a mindless sheep.
Jeff Kliewer says Timothy Keller’s definition of sin was deficient, because he says Keller said “No one ever learned he was a sinner by being told that they are.”
If Keller had stopped there I would agree with Kliewer, but If you listen to the sermon video in which Keller uses this phrase you will find that Keller is actually quoting from a sermon by John Newton (of Amazing Grace fame), in which Newton says; “No one ever learned they were a sinner by being told, they have to be shown.” Keller uses this full quote including the words “THEY HAVE TO BE SHOWN.”
Why does Kliewer leave out the last part of the quote? Half truths are deceptive.
Looking at the context of this quote by Keller; it comes from the first of two 30 minute sermons called ‘HOW TO BE CHANGED BY THE GOSPEL 1, & 2’, which largely deals with the question of sin. In the first video, Keller speaking from Romans 7 says; “The Apostle Paul says, you are far more evil, you are far more wicked than you want to believe.”
In the second video on Romans 8, Keller says; “People will tell you it is emotionally unhealthy to call yourself evil sinners - it is not ….You are evil.” Why does Jeff Kliewer not use this quote from Keller?
In fact the two sermons by Keller give a deeper understanding of what sin is and the need for all to come to Christ in repentance, depending totally on Him for cleansing and power to change and live for Him.
If Jeff Kliewer seams happy to mis-quote and take out of context what Keller says, has he done the same with the other points in his statement?
I think this was a gracious critique. At the end of it all, if Mr. Keller had truly repented and put his faith in Christ we will see him in heaven one day; only the Lord truly knows.
I've listened to and read a lot of Tim Keller and yes, he was charming and winsome but he preached Christ crucified. He preached the confronting truth that salvation comes through faith alone in Christ alone. He spent his life trying to reach the lost and seemingly lived with integrity and humility. I'm grateful to God for his life. Blessings to all from the UK.
Good critique. Tim Keller came on my radar a few years ago, whilst researching Genesis. And found that he didn't teach Creation, I stopped paying attention to him after that. Thank you Tim once again.
BB Warfield the great defender of inerrancy was open to God using evolution to create. Spurgeon and many preachers of his day had no issue accepting that the world was ancient. Accepting the overwhelming evidence for common descent and an ancient earth doesn’t mean that someone rejects God as creator.
@@bjn3232 Be that as it may, but I'd like to ask the question where do you believe the Bible Gen 12? Rejecting the creation narrative is suicidal for a Christian, the whole Gospel is right there in Gen 3. When we try to marry evolution with creation we run into problems. Death before the fall, when God clearly says his creation was very good. Death then coming as a result of Sin not through evolutionary process.
Thank you so very much for your posts and sharing with us about the true pastors that speak from the word of the Lord. God bless you!
At first I thought 'here we go, a bit of necrophagia' but I was then pleasantly surprised. The piece is really well done, and balanced. Top marks for your faithfulness.
The pastor gave a critique of Tim Keller both responsibly and balanced. We need to examine everything against Scripture and stand up for the truth, no matter how unpopular it is.
Thank you so much for this video. I have read some of Tim Keller’s writings and found much of them to be interesting and helpful. He loved Jesus. He also tried to grapple with modern ideology and understand where the proponents were coming from. Again, some of his comments were illuminating and helpful but I think he appeared to be over sympathetic to Marxist writers. Thank you again for this incisive critique. Blessings from uk.
So are the muslim but its spiritually dangerous
I think what happens far too often is that so many preachers get caught up in the “academia” or “education” or “credentials” involved in the study of theology & philosophy, etc. Then what inevitably happens is that they stray away from the straight forward obvious meaning of the Bible in order to appease all of that instead!
👆
It isn't inevitable. That is going too far.
@@maxaplin4204 perhaps I should have been more precise … I should have said that in some cases, with sone men … etc.

What you said about Tim Keller writing the sermons for pastors, in the Independent Fundamental Baptist arena, Paul Chappell holds that distinction. Very disturbing when so many pastors download their Sunday “sermons” on Saturday night from someone else.

Thanks for sharing this! I needed to hear it!
Tim Keller NOT believing in GOD Faithfulness proves he never should have been followed by anyone.
He believed in God's faithfulness. Literally preached it in every sermon
This is well done. I was always on the fence about Keller but there is no doubt as to the hero worship of this man, especially in the PCA circles I used to run in. I ended up believing that most of the adoration was not so much driven by his Gospel articulation but by his methods and results. Pastors just wanted to copy his techniques in the hopes that they could grow their churches in a big way too, which usually involves some sort of compromise when good old fashioned orthodox preaching is not filling the pews. God knows who is His, hopefully Keller was His, but I pray God give us all wisdom and discernment to recognize when the Bible is being compromised for the sake of getting results.
Amen brother
I hate "nuance"---whenever a pastor like Tim Keller says we have to have "nuance", I take that to mean they are going to "water down" the message somehow. Just come right out and say what you really mean. Don't beat around the bush with "nuance"!
I always have a holy discomfort of his contortionist approach to scripture. His lack of clarity in the name of scholarship and sophistication is most compromising of truth. Gives me a headache everytime I hear or read him.
THIS was very informative and well thought out. Yes, Only the Lord knows. I am deeply worried about the direction of the Keller movement. Marxism has NO roots in scripture.
Wow. This was so needed to be said.
Thank you for this.
LETS NOT BE POLITICALLY CORRECT,TIM KELLER DID NOT PREACH THE FULL COUNCIL OF GOD!IF ANY MAN BRINGS ANOTHER GOSPEL THAT WHAT WAS GIVEN BY THE HOLY SPIRIT ,LET HIM BE ACURSED
Where Tim Keller is, is the ONE ISSUE We are not to Judge. That is GOD's Job. He is correct in his statements and critiques of Tim Keller.
Yep. Agreed. Even Hitler. That’s NOT our call. That’s for the one with all authority in heaven and earth. Amen!
Oh, I can’t stand when ppl say “I’m not judging you”. That’s exactly what you’re supposed to do, and, that’s what God installed in us. Peace in Jesus Christ.
JESUS TEACHES HIS FOLLOWERS TO JUDGE. "“Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment” (John 7:24, ESV). Other verses indicate how to judge with Righteous Judgment, being to judge yourself first (Matt. 7:1-5) and not making judgment a standard of behavior towards unbelievers (Luke 6:27-38). However, Christians are Required to Judge others who proclaim the faith. The Apostle Paul explained to the church at Corinth, "For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge? God judges those outside. Purge the evil person from among you'" (1 Cor. 5:12).
As a Christain, you are Biblically required by God to judge Tim Keller (after judging yourself) and purge that evil away from fellow believers.
Note: that means that Tim Keller is Not a Christain. Why? because the Holy Spirit does Not fail by producing bad fruit, false doctrines, and evil teachings which must be purged.
He was smart enough to get the attention to teach falsely, destroying the church.
I met some of his disciples in Singapore. Very afraid to teach bible simply. Almost afraid to speak the truth in love for fear of being persecuted. Unfortunately his influence is very much alive and is killing the plain and simple gospel. It's so easy to not speak the truth avoiding persecution.
The best way to remember Tim Keller's teaching is to mark it as false and avoid it.
obviosly you have never really listened to keller, i know of no one who preaches a stronger view of gospel than tim
So what are we to make of elders in our churches who were fans of Keller as that’s one of the main reasons I left my prior church a few years ago as I could not be under the leadership of such a man who is either unsaved, or had no discernment and was racked with guilt apparently over his own financial success, but did nothing about it in terms of giving up his house or part of his wealth to a black family. Funny how that works.
Thank you so much for sharing this, Brother Tim.
If he didn’t preach the word of God correctly and rejected the clear teaching of Genesis, there’s nothing to question period.
What is the clear teaching of Genesis you’re referring to?
Thank you
I wasn’t sure where you were going with this. I appreciate that you showed that critique by Pastor Jeff. Agree that Keller seemed embarrassed to be of God. If any pastor quotes Tim Keller, I check out. Only God will judge where he lands.
This is a very much needed expose of Keller. Thank you! I have been so disheartened by how many seemingly solid Christian voices have mourned his passing (no judgement here at all) whilst hero worshipping him and his teachings/what he stood for when, as you rightly say, he spoke heresy and a watered down and seeker-sensitive cultural "Christianity". One Christian Instagrammer even went as far to say, when challenged, that it was the chemo meds he was in at the end that resulted in him speaking questionable things 😳🤔 His influence was and sadly will continue to be damaging and insidious. True biblical discernment is woefully lacking in today's wayward church. Keep speaking God's truth unashamedly. The world is in desperate need of it
Why dont you list somethings so people know they always ask what evidence?
It’s character assassination. To cherry pick someone’s views out of their context is wrong .
@@sorrowinchrist3387 How about the fact that he told constituents that white people are all race baiting hate-mongers? He told his friends that we just can’t help it! @@reneeandersen2014 I do agree that Tim Keller had some questionable teaching, but I would not necessarily be afraid of a new pastor that felt influenced by him. A bold statement about someone who preached that salvation was through the atoning death of Jesus
The real question is ‘how wrong about God can a person be and still be a child of God?’ We know from Scripture that there will be many who think they are saved who are not. Matt 7. 21-23 The literal truth of Holy Writ is a bitter pill to swallow for unbelievers.
Is Isaiah 58:6-10 relative for Christians to practice today? Would you advocate for a relative who’s on death row for a crime he or she didn’t commit?
Tim Keller's book "The Reason for God" brought me to Christ. God saved me, in Christ, through this man.

@@truthseeker5698 ? No, I was commanded to do it?
@@truthseeker5698 Study God's Word
This is a bizarre statement... One must understand philosophy, on some level at least, for God's Word to be understood as truth.
God's Word itself calls us to seek truth and wisdom, and to understand that scripture is part of that. So, to shun philosophy is to shun the seeking of truth and wisdom.
Now, if someone takes philosophy and turns that into their god, that is certainly idolatry... But just because it is possible for truth seeking to become an idol doesn't mean it always is.
Philosophy leads many people to Christ, as seeking the truth inevitably does.

There is no doubt in my mind and heart that Tim Keller opens his eyes to our Lord, who said, “well done, good and faithful servant.”While I differed from him in some things (reformed theology, approach to social justice), I spent many many hours, listening to and reading his messaging. I have grown in the Lord because of him, and I’m grateful for him. I urge others to experience him themselves, and not too quickly allow short quotes and sound bites stand as representative of his service. God has used in many of His children in huge ways in spite of their flaws and limited human understanding. I think his countenance shines upon Tim Keller.
So you also, when you have done all that you were commanded, say, ‘We are unworthy servants;we have only done what was our duty.’” (Luke17:10 ESV)

I’m glad I threw away one of his books I bought a few years ago. Seems my concerns were correct. Thanks for the confirmation. 👍
I threw away my first one. It was the one on humility. He was good at "beating around the bush."
Wich book was it?
People might have to pay me to read Keller’s book. No, i had no interest or time for Keller, long time ago. The Spirit of truth gives us discernment
Let God decide, we are only people who is looking on the outside. I know what he said and did, but let God decide wether he get a stephanos or not.
I was not a fan of Tim Keller, not everything he shared was good. The way I see it, I’m
Not gonna question his salvation, but rather some of his ministry. I’ve always looked at the passage in 1 cor 3, That talks about wood, hay and stubble. Like Billy Graham, where there were many who came to Christ, the methods and some of the things he said have wood, hay and stubble. Not loss of salvation but loss of rewards .
I must say I didnt know of these questionable issues regarding Keller
Another fraud exposed. Sad that fraudsters have so much visibility and influence in the Christian church today.
Jesus said “You will know them by their fruit” which says it ALL-and that does not mean the number who follow a person!
I have not know him for long or heard of him preach but from what am gathering am worried about his soul, I would understand if one disagrees with me on secondary issues as a Christian but if the pattern is to almost always disagree a lot on fundamental doctrines in Scripture then it obvious where of the Spiritual condition of where a person like Tim Keller leaned to.
He didn't disagree with any orthodox christian on primary matters of the faith
