You can just screw mount adaptor ON the stand itself, skipping ball mount. Your light already has swivel mech, so no ball needed.

This may sound weird but I want to be able to mount this horizontally from a wooden surface...
How much weight do you think it could support horizontally? Assuming it was well clamped?
I basically want to be able to mount heavy camera pointing down

Max load is listed as 4.5lbs, but that's probably vertical. I'd say horizontal is half that. I wouldn't trust a heavy camera on this mount going horizontal. I'd use a gobo arm on a C-stand.
