In case anyone is still wondering about the baseplate. These were part of the adult oriented Modulex line designed for architects. The were transparent so people could put a floor plan underneath them and build a Lego model on top with the exact dimensions. They were also designed to be cut and glued onto wood boards(yes really). The Modulex theme was very short lived and was created pretty early in Lego's history. And since the parts were designed to be cut and glued, and weren't really compatible with other Lego bricks, there's very few parts that survive to this day.
The high quality production of this video is refreshing to see for a BrickLink store tour. And as a veteran BrickLink seller those hanging shoe organizers is something I have never seen before.
I run a BL store professionally myself and I can say that looking at her numbers; she doesn't have any employees. It's probably her kids/husband/friends helping out from time to time.
I've ordered from her prior and favorite'd her store. She has great service and when you get your package you can tell she cares about making a good experience for customers.
What a great "mini documentary" Behind the scenes are most of the time very interesting. It is also very inspiring to see how a person can have an idea / realisation, and develop it so well.
I remember seeing that baseplate and a LEGO worker talking about it, as far as I know, it's exclusive to the builders of the official company only, if I'm correct, so that's pretty cool to see that she has one.
I think it's also used on build walls in toy stores where there's a picture underneath that people build overtop of. It could explain why the corners are damaged if it was removed from the display.
Ginny it's so cool to see this video and what your store has become. You sold my technic collection about 6 years ago. I was browsing youtube and saw your store name pop up and I was like "OMG I KNOW HER".
Wow - not all heroes wear capes!!! I love buying from Bricklink sellers its always so appreciated how much effort goes into keeping things running smoothly
The 48x48 transparent baseplate (4186) is by the way from Lego Land/Factory. They use them for their own builds that require transparent baseplates. Thats why you cant find them in any sets, but its not like "an production sample" or anything. Some years ago some of them were even sold at the factory.
The clear faceplate was an internal piece only. Lego has made several of these unique piece over the years to help their testers and master builders. It probably was taken home by an employee then forgotten about then sold at some point lol. There's a Lego employee here on UA-cam that talks about some of these pieces from time to time, I cant for the life of me remember his channel name though :(
I've ordered from Wild Bricks GA more than once, and they do a great job. Interesting to see the store layout. I've been operating a store for almost 5 years, which is roughly half their size. One suggestion I would perhaps make, is to standardize the various types of storage as much as possible, just to have a more efficient picking workflow. There's certainly a need for a variety of small/medium/large drawer sizes, but beyond that keep the storage units consistent. We are moving away from bead storage type containers because we find them the most tedious to pick from.
Hey Ben, thanks so much for the comments. I've thought about making our containers more uniform for a while. A lot of the containers came from purchasing other BL stores and their set ups. I plan to get rid of the container store drawers first and replace them with more of the sliding shoe racks and more of the sterilite drawers. The bead boxes hold more lots per sq ft than any other type of storage we have. We have so many small lots they are irreplaceable for us. ~Ginny~
Very impressive. I know a few people that have Bricklink stores and have seen there setup and this one is very impressive and laid out very well. Love the video.
Such an awesome video to really see what goes on behind the scenes! I've made soooo many BrickLink purchases, and also from Wild Bricks many times. Great video!
Very Interesting; i have started my own Bricklink Store back in November 2022 and i really like the platform. Everything is made with attention to Detail and as a seller it is great because it is SO Easy to sell on it.
Dude!!!! Ginny is awesome! Insane amount of work and dedication but she's living a dream. This was so fun to watch, loved hearing the words of wisdom and what it's like keeping organized and being successful. Great editing and video-work too, bravo!
The accountant in me is very curious about the inventory, accounting systems, and how profitable the business model is. I love how she vacuum seals the parts in bags. So much easier on the buyer side to assimilate the Lego into the various projects. Orders from Lego just get dumped into big bags and take a lot of time to sort by part.
@@thorakvideos2495 you wouldn't bother pursuing the business for $5 per hour, think of the overheads she has, the running costs online, no way, so that's absolutely rubbish. She would make a good living
@@thedappercook Do you per chance run a professional BL store? Because I do... There is no cost for "running online" except 3% BL fee & PayPal fees. Taxes depend on where you live. She is obviously running the store from home so no rent or other bills. She was/is a stay at home mom, so she doesn't need to provide a big amount to the family finances. I hope for her that she makes a killing, but looking at her numbers, she isn't pulling more than 1000 to max 1500/month in profit. Sorting through USED lots of Lego is extremely time consuming. Once again, I wish her all the best, but the reality is that BL is oversaturated in sellers. Now, that is a good thing for most buyers but making a living from BL has become incredibly difficult.
I don’t plan to get into selling Lego but man would I love to have organization like this for all my pieces so that I can grab build instructions and know where a piece is
It looks like you have a very amazing and organized store. I hope one day to say a store that can serve my customer base and have the repeat clientele that you have built on. Keep up the great work.
supper cool never seen the behind stuff of a bricklink store, I use bricklink some times I noticed you really have some cheap 2x1 bricks wish you had them in the right gray the cheapest I could buy them in the amount I need was 9 cents a piece I now have about 2000 of those bricks, but I'll definitely check the shop out, but what will determine if I buy anything is the price. ohhhh I just looked at the plants there the best selection I have seen and the price is good to!
Packaging seems very high quality. I looked at her shop and her prices seem very high compared to other Bircklink sellers. Although she is shipping from U.S. So maybe you save there
Wow! How big is the space for your inventory? How do you clean/sort your bulk LEGO parts? I find quite a bit of non-LEGO when I buy bulk and use mesh bags in washing machine to clean the parts.
Wow, the most organized set up I have ever seen. The only question that I did not see in this video is how and where does she get her parts? Is it new and used?
I've seen the transparent baseplate only in a video of a guy working at a lego store. Perhaps those are only meant for use at a lego store? I did hear they're also deviate a lot compared to other lego, so probably only for very special use cases.
I believe the mysterious clear 48x48 baseplate actually comes from official master builders! I remember the one (can't remember his name😢) who is always posting shorts talking about it once!
The organization and attention to detail required for a store like this is mind-blowing. 🤯 She's amazing!
well of course shes organized shes a mom lol
I love the content you guys make.

This baseplate was actually not Modulex, as it was scaled with normal studs. Some have suggested it may have come from the LEGO Model Shop.
