The dude who died in the video was Jimmy “the Rev” Sullivan. Original drummer for avenged sevenfold. He died tragically in 2009. By then he already established himself as one of the best metal drummers of the modern era and he was only 28. He’s the reason I started drumming. If you wanna hear some good songs by him and avenged sevenfold I highly suggest checking out “critical Acclaim” “Beast and the Harlot”, Bat Country, Almost easy, Afterlife, seize the day, or Unholy Confessions ANYTHING FROM WAKING THE FALLEN TO THEIR SELF TITLED ALBUM WHERE THE REV IS ON THE DRUMS

They all did grow up together. From around 2nd grade. Matt the singer married his childhood sweetheart and Synyster is married to her twin sister. So they are brother in law's. You have to do Buried Alive, it's a great song. Nightmare, Afterlife. Actually any song by them is good. Rest In Peace Rev. We love you and will foREVer!

I never got into A7X, but being a musician and a Metal Head, I do recall hearing of The Rev's passing (RIP). This is my first time hearing this song... WOW!!! So powerful!!

Next avenged sevenfold song you should do is nightmare! Last song their drummer , the rev, made. The song was still being produced and edited, but he believed that it was perfect. He passed away and they didn’t touch a thing after that.
This song was about Jimmy the Rev Sullivan. He grew up with them and was their drummer for a long time, he passed away unfortunately due to an overdose. Such a talented musician lost too soon. If you have ever lost a childhood friend this song will fuck you up everytime you hear it.

I'm a huge Avenged Sevenfold fan.. fav band. The first time I saw this video I was at a bowling alley during one of those blacklight bowl nights.. imagine crying in the middle of a bowling alley. Lol. The Rev really is a legend.

My best friend Mark and I loved this band and he passed away not long ago, now I can hardly listen to my favorite band without breaking down and missing him. His parents asked me to pick the music for his funeral. This song was on the playlist. This is the second time I’ve cried for Mark today.

My brother in law loved this band and this song. When he died 4 years ago, we made sure to play this song at his funeral, even to the chagrin of other family members who felt it was not the kind of song you play at funeral (cause it's rock, yea my husband and I were rolling our eyes too) it is a beautiful and sad song. To this day it still hits me to hear it. R.I.P. to "the Rev" and any and all those we have lost.

They're a band you either love to hate or hate to love. You never know what you get with each song. It's anywhere from really heavy metal to soft rock. Many hate them because of this. But they take influences from rock rap country and metal.

Fk yes, finally some A7X! Great soft song by them. My favourite is Buried Alive, but Bat Country, Afterlife, Nightmare and Hail to the King are probably their most iconic. Unholy Confessions when you’re ready for something heavier ;)
Some people put them down by saying that they are just a new version of Guns and Roses, I think that's honestly a compliment but they can do even more than that as well. I play guitar and absolutely respect the hell out of there guitar work in their music because they f@ckn shred. The singer is versatile and they've stuck together through pure tragedy after losing a key member of the band.
They're somewhere in between Metallica and guns n roses...but its a nice blend

You figured it out. They basically grew up together and self produced their first album and got signed soon after. Jimmy died before they recorded this album but Mike Portnoy did an amazing job recreating the drum demos and the whole album just screams The Rev in every song. He was one of the best drummers ever. His family was outside the studio the day they made this video. I always cry watching it. He died a few months after my husband did. ♥️foREVer♥️RIP Jimmy The Rev Sullivan
Synyster Gates actually had written this song when his grandpa died but then the Rev died and they made it into a tribute for him instead. Jimmy (the Rev) was such an amazing talent. You should check out the band he and Synyster Gates had before A7X called Pinkly Smooth. One of their best songs from that band is called Mezmer. Jimmy wrote it, sang it, played the drums and the keyboard also and Gates shreds on the guitar as always. Man i miss him soooo much 😭 RIP foREVer

Yep, they did indeed grow up together. Their drummer, "the rev," sadly passed away but the band is still making good music. Almost all their stuff is good, especially since they have a wide variety of how heavy their music can get. Great vid!

They grew up all as best friends. This video is absolutely a true representation of their lives. The drummer The Rev passed during the recording of this album “Nightmare”. The entire album was a tribute to their best friend and one of the greatest and most unique drummers of all time.

You should check out their song fiction the drummer wrote almost the entire thing and before they had to chance to discuss recording it he passed away also seize the day is another great song
You wanna hear a crazy emotional song by them?? Check out Fitcton. It was written by The Rev and he finished it just days before he passed. He sings in it and sounds like hes in pain. Theres alot of conspiracies or speculations about the song, some think it was his suicide note. Or that he knew he was going to pass. The lyrics definitely make you think that. He finished it 3 days before he passed away. He wanted it called Death but they named it Fiction because that was one of his nicknames. But none the less, its an incredible song you should check out!

3:41 It's rock... Do not confuse rock with metal because they are two different beast altogether. Usually rock is smoother and "ok" for radio while metal is usually more brutal and "unfit" for radio broadcast.
