The Rev had an enlarged heart and was told he probably wouldnt live til 30 and he seemed to decide to go out on his own terms, the song Fiction talks about it he finished it 3 days before he died and its basically a goodbye to the world and his friends, the rev says in that song "promise me youll never be afraid" and in this song so far away matt says "sleep tight im not afraid" really good listen, also any song from Live in LBC is really great to react too, amazing live show

That makes it even sadder to me. I mean, we have medical treatments for that type of stuff. I think I said this at the end of this video, but in the 80s and 90s we lost folks way too frequently due to preventable causes of death. It seemed like a job hazard for rock stars. But then it kind of seemed like we figured out that balls to the wall, foot on the accelerator lifestyle wasn't sustainable and started taking care of folks a little bit better. So now when we lose someone like The Rev or Delores O'Riordan, or, hell, even Taylor Hawkins, it's even more confusing. It just feels like it shouldn't happen like that. We know better.
Thanks for commenting. We'll check out the live stuff, too.

@@LikeMindedLunatics that’s very true. I’m not sure of and I don’t know if the public really knows the exact details of the revs medical condition and what his options were. They were a very tight knit group and friends since grade school and aren’t so public about their personal lives.
By the way, you never said the rev was a disgusting human being in your beast and the harlot video, I think it was Zacky you were referring to at that moment. You only picked on the rev for spinning his drumstick but I found that entire video funny, no need to feel bad, I could tell you guys loved the music , and yea I’m a huge fan and it’s funny to look back at them in their 2006 look. If you look at the 30 minute documentary on the making of “a little piece of heaven” they look back at it and laugh at themselves too. (I’d recommend listening to the Song first though) They have another really good documentary about the band as well and it shows their tour with Metallica
I love your reactions and how you guys are yourselves and poke fun and have a good time. I don’t think you did anything wrong. Keep it up! Thanks!

DAMMIT! Was it!?! Do we need to do another apology video? I blame this SQUARELY on Todd!
But in all seriousness, yeah we were just having fun and joking around, so I'm glad that came through. We certainly wouldn't have been so disrespectful if we'd known about The Rev passing away.
And thank you for the kind words. I'm glad you're enjoying our stuff!

@@LikeMindedLunatics hahaha I love Todds comments though, yeah now that I reviewed it it was Zacky the entire time, the expecting an A for a C paper guy, LOL that was my favorite comment btw, hilarious!! Any fans that were hurt are silly, because the actual band members laugh at themselves. In a documentary they literally say "why were we so creepy?" haha..just subscribed, look forward to more!

@@LikeMindedLunatics Unfortunately, pretty much everything he said was wrong or mixed in a way that makes it incorrect. The Rev was speaking with a friend's father and said that he would be a famous drummer and would die before he was thirty. The Rev had an enlarged heart, which was a contributing factor to the overdose. Fiction was a song that he was wanting to do for a very long time, and the band was trying to find a song to fill in one of the remaining slots in that album. The Rev chose Fiction as the last song. Shadows and the rest of the band wrote a fair bit of the song, and a large part of the other songs. Only thing that is correct is that Live in the LBC was a fucking awesome performance.

Long time Sevenfold fan since 2005, and the way Syn makes his guitar cry during the solos gets me every time.

I lost my best friend to suicide a couple years ago. I constantly watch reactions to this song because I enjoy seeing people resonate with the same lyrics that touched me. "I love you, you were ready. The pain is strong and urges rise. But I'll see you, when He lets me. Your pain is gone, your hands untied."

Between M. Shadow’s emotions painting every syllable and Synyster Gates making his guitar cry, it’s impossible for me to hear let alone watch this video without crying my eyes out.
    R.I.P. the REV 🎶💕🦋

Fun fact - Syn's guitar fret has REV in this song. In all other songs you'll see a SYN. Also Johnny's guitar strap.

The thing I’m scared about taking prescriptions and being a drummer is that apparently they don’t mix well. The Rev, Taylor Hawkins, and many more.

    • @LikeMindedLunatics
      @LikeMindedLunatics  2 роки тому +3

I honestly don't think that's an unreasonable fear, but I don't think that has anything to do with being a drummer. I think that's a reasonable fear for most people. My wife's a doctor, and folks just don't seem to have the same kind of respect/fear for RX drugs as they do for illegal ones. Too many folks think that because a drug came from a pharmacy that it's safe to do whatever with it, and boy oh boy, that's just not the case.
And so many of the overdoses we see are because of RX drugs and not illicit ones. I mean, just off the top of my head Prince, Michael Jackson, Tom Petty, Taylor Hawkins, The Rev, Heath Ledger.

13:00 As a musician I have wondered this since I learned what drugs are lol. I honestly think the answer is this - People with addictive tendencies/personalities are far more likely to become famous/talented musicians because they are literally able to become addicted to their instrument. It takes so much time to sit down and become a master at your craft, and most accomplish it by 25 (let's say). Once you find your drug of choice and have the resources (from being a fkn rockstar) , its hard to go back.
Also, its hard to come down off of playing in front of 20k people..

    • @LikeMindedLunatics

I also wonder if it's also a way to self-medicate in the same way that a lot of drug addicts are trying to medicate something that's gone undiagnosed. There's something meditative about sitting and practicing something over and over and over.

Jimmy knew he was dying, he had an enlarged heart…. His drug overdose was just the way he decided to go out. Rock star, going out in a ball of fire…. Not in a hospital bed
