Currently the A model of the jet costs around 80 million $ which is lower than many Western made 4th gen fighter jets like the Eurofighter Typhoon, Dassault Rafale, F-18 Super Hornet Block III, etc... Currently the only drawback is higher than average cost of flight hour which is around 33 000$ and dropping while for example F-15 E cost is around 22 000$ per hour. F-35 is a much needed capability in NATO and for our Pacific and Asian allies. Of course that doesn't mean that the F-35 is it and we should stick with it for the next 50 years.. That's why the USAF and US Navy have started large scale investment in the next generation of fighter jets, so called NGAD or Next generation air dominance. And the most surprising thing about it is the fact that the prototype has already flown.. Amazing.
I'm glad someone else has pointed out these facts, especially the cost per plane. Also, whenever people try saying it can only carry 6000lbs of munitions, correct them with this lovely fact, it can actually carry 22,000lbs. Thats 4000lbs more than an f18. Stealths don't operate in full stealth configuration 24/7. Once air defenses are taken out, they mount up hardpoints and start carrying on the wings.
So, a few things: according to the Governement Accountability Office, the current cost of flying an f35 is lot 33 000$ as you said but 41 000, which is twice as much as the f16 or the rafale. The current price per unit is around 80 millions dollars, like you said, which is the price of the rafale but lower than an eurofighter or a f22. Is there a reason they couldn’t make the F35’s canopy a frameless one like the F22 and 16? The only reason I can 5hunk if is the frame has some sensors to track the helmet.
Apparently this has to do with the ejection seat, the type that the F35 uses shoots the pilot through the canopy, using explosives to break the canopy into smaller parts first. The F16/F22 do not explode their canopy but eject it entirely before ejecting the pilot, this takes some time as the canopy must be released and allowed to fall away before the seat ejects. As the F35 can be a STOVL aircraft, situations that require an ejection would not really have spare time to wait for a canopy to fall away, when the pilot wants to eject he/she needs to eject now, not one second later, hence the tactic of detonating explosives within the canopy to break it into smaller pieces quickly.

i saw that as well. But in my opinion, the material i saw that started to rust/rot was more or less cathode materials. Meaning they are designed to rust/rot in place of more critical components like cables or structural metals. Boats are something where cathodes are most noticeable. Huge pieces of a special metal are welded onto the outside of the hull to rust in place of the hull itself.

Back in October 2021 twelve F-22 pilots walked off the job when they heard they would be forced to take the covid shot. Same went for some crews of the B-52. Navy Seals also refused the jab.
I won't scroll through the comments to see if I am first, but 'Aircraft' is already plural.
I was running a Open type of Restaurant in a big housing estate back in 2,000. I had one particular customer, who was a major in the Malaysian army. But I am sure he is not a pilot. I guess he was also involved with purchasing of Russian fighter jets, Mig 29 and the Sukoi. His name is Gully, a Malacca born Eurasian. He was always talking about the fantastic Russian fighter jets. Then I was not so much into it and till now.
Now, I understand why he was in awe of these fantastic flying machines.
There US. L. T from USA CA California City 😎💪 guys
My question happens to be is the F35 JSF prohibitive cost due to its novel technologies or is it because Lockheed marks up the cost very high to earn more for it's stockholders ? Does not the u.s govt fund much of the research and development cost ?
Because there are three different versions and they had to develop new technologies
Do you think that aircraft are finished with the new generation of drones?
COOLEST PEOPLE IN THE AF!!!!!
Ayos ang galing bilib ako
I would not be surprised if these are the last manned fighter planes.
The mig 29 going to 30k feet in under a minute, omg!!! That is insane speed
The English Electric Lightning (first flown 1954) had an initial climb rate of 60,000 feet per minute. Out climbed everything before or since.
It's fast but there are faster
This is amazing modern technology.
Interesting
great show 10-4
HAHAHHA it said "Powering freedom" on the engine covers at 8:55 , thats the funniest thing i have ever seen. Only in 'Merica! xDD
More like "Powering profiteering"
Could u been anymore dumb?
Syupid yanks a legend in their own head
At Luke Air Force Base used to be able to park at the end of the runway of course on the other side of the fence f-15s and f-16s would be taking off and Landing all day long I could sit out there all day long just watching them I don't I don't think you can anymore I'd love to watch the Raptors be flying around there landing and taking off

The only modern fighter that can land vertically?
Harrier in mind
@@d.bcooper2271 harrier is no longer in service. The F-35 is the only moder fighter in service that lands vertically
F-35c has SVTOL capabilities
94 million dollars for a plane that can feed a country - let me see "feed poor people?" " build a jet." "feed poor people? " "build a jet." ---- " ok, lets go with the jet." what a world we live in
am i the only one to spot the rust on the mig-29? 15:35 and other images around that time :)
i saw that as well.
Jai Hind Pilot Military
😮juice o
The mig 15 is my pick
I love F-15 than Mig hahaha ! 5 Mig fighter jets and it's Russian pilots shot down by F-15 by Israeli Pilots hahaha! Then the Egyptian were laughed at the Russian hahaha!
Anybody know what is that bright light military plane throws and what is its purpose???
Not sure if you are still wondering but anyway - those are high temperature fake targets to fool the rockets with the targeting system based on heat detection. For example Stingers and other hand-held rocket launchers
7:54 don’t threaten me with a good time 🤣🤣
Why do flares continue to fool heat-seeking missiles? Why couldn't the targeting computer calculate the origin point of the flares?
Swept Wing aircraft can be dated back to the 1920s
Briefing room ??? SON, this is the 21st century - we STAND for our briefings !
F35 is an unreliable jet but they make it sound like it’s the F22 Raptor 😂
