I know one of the guys personally. He says the most stressfull part is that a pilot's life depends on your precise work. It's no fun. I have great respect for them.
@@francescogendrinable Hi, he attended The Armed Forces Technical School, Halmstad, Sweden. I don't know how it works elsewhere, but in Czech Republic you have to join the military to be able to get this type of training.
"sadly I wasn't able to become a pilot myself as my hearing and sight weren't good enough that's why I became a mechanic" I remember that day I visited some army officiers at a orientation meeting when I was 18. I explained to them that I'm deaf, I can talk and read on lips. And they told me I can't work in the army at all even as a mechanic. I dreamed to be a fighter pilot. I'm glad I can watch these guys accomplishing their dreams at least.
Those Czechs are good eggs. They don't take short cuts! A weapons platform like this, which is a solid weapons system...is only good as the pilot at the controls. But... the pilot is only as good as the flight crew keeping these incredibly complicated and high tech machines operating at the its absolute highest possibility capabilities. Every time those pilots positions and holds in the runway..their lives are literally in the hands of that crew and their efforts for nearly two months. It really is amazing how so many people can come together working on machines with thousands of parts where...if just one tiny part fails... a pilot and $35 million buck become an extremely expensive lawn dart! A dart that explodes in a fireball! Good on ya, Czech Republic. Glad you're on our side!
Excellent documentary; congrats to the Czech team doing that great work. Hats off to SAAB and the Swedes for designing this beautiful machine. Unfortunately because of such low numbers produced its very expensive to acquire though operating costs are the best in the world!
Excellent insight into the professional back-up service package that provides on-going aircraft operational readiness. The cleanliness and space of the working environment is impressive, so to the methodical precision applied by all the engineers. Superb attention to detail. Thank you for this video, it is very interesting indeed.

Keep up the good work, it`s been a long time since i watched tv because of channels like this actually is more interesting and we also learn something. Thanks

im planning to take BSAMT for college and i always find fighter jets nice and cool haha they kinda look challenging to maintain btw great documentary, keep this up
I'm amazed how clean the engine is going back in ,engines usually have alot more auxiliaries strapped to them ,they must be already in the fuselage waiting to be connected, for quick exchanges 😮
Swedish aircraft, perfect plane and superb reliability. It is not one of the most modern ones, but still one of the greatest fighter jets ever buildt. It would have been fun to see my fellow swedes servicing these models instead. Not because these guys are not skilled enough, they sure are. I just think it would be more fun to see and maybe more interesting too, as the aircraft was engineered and buildt in Sweden.
I think saab allowed this documentary to happen so potential buyers would see about the ease of maintenance of the Gripens by showing a foreign user of gripen doing maintenance.
I love this documentaries, I learn so much! Like when the guy says "if the engine fails, the plane won't fly" I'm so glad they made that clear, I'm not really good with aerodynamic engineering...
Feel bad for the mechanic that he can't fly, but being able to fix them is pretty cool. I too know how it feels not to be able to do what you want because of your bodies defects
Xlaxsauce I presume you are not engineer or mechanic? For us it is not matter of flying but satisfaction of play with this technology and satisfaction that each plane we repair land safe.

50 days of work for numerous mechanics and the jet is now ready for another 200 hours of flying! Egads! That’s a harsh ratio of ground hours to flight hours!
The gripen is one of the least demanding of service intervalls of all the fighters in the world. So just imagine how often a F-35 have to do there service
Definitely made for television haha no engine mechanic is paying attention to the sand knick on that compressor blade lol and yes I am a jet engine mechanic. Worked on the F404, lm2500 and the 9k50.
How cool to see how the new combat aircraft in Brazil is maintained. The difference is that this Gripen E engine is 80.40 kN and the Gripen NG version of Brazil is a 98 kN engine.
The the Czech Republic have 14 of these beauties and the mechanics are working around the clock with maintenance. USA have approximately 13000 military aircrafts...

@@supercat380 I can confirm! I also work as an russian bot to create caos in europe!❤ On a serius note, why do you say things like that? Do you even live in Sweden?
The part they missed about the hydraulic fluid and engine oil at the start of the job is that it has nothing to do with the time to change the fluids. It's about getting samples so you can analyze the contaminants in them to tell if there are any internal failures.
The landing strip at 1:12 is actually Highwayy 44, just 15 km south of the town Lidköping, Sweden. There are four of those runways in line, all built in 1990 and refurbihed last year.
The Ukrainian Air Force should consider the Gripen. It is designed to operate in the field, from very basic runways, with quick Fueling, Ammo and maintenance turn-around between sorties
this video was really well done, the attention to detail is impressive! but i can't help but wonder if we actually need such advanced fighter jets in today's world. it feels like we're prioritizing military spending over pressing issues like climate change and healthcare. just a thought!
