I grew up at the mouth of Rotterdam Harbor and am so proud to see this Dutch tug safely complete this tow. Respect to Captain Kees and his excellent crew!
What a well presented documentary on a very difficult and exacting operation. Every moment was tension filled but the cool and highly professional approach made it look so routine. Hats off to the young skipper of the tug. We wish him and his crew safe towing always. And the crew of the giant rig, successful and rewarding drilling. Stay Safe.
What a great experience to be on such a rig. I have worked for one of such a rig called *Safe Bristolia* in Singapore kepple shipyard during 2007, it was even bigger then this one in the vedio. But what is most striking is the massive ness of the structure. It's an unforgettable experience, and sobering memories. I was also blessed to work for another Russian oil rig in Singapore during 2003 to 2005 a complete refurbishment of the *Marmanskaaya* even Bigger then this one. It's always a joy and a challenge to work on a rig. Good luck guys.
this is such a knowledgeable documentary. Delivering the oil rigg that massively supplies the world's necessities is so underrated. Hands down to the well-trained 40 handworking people🙌
CONGRATS, for the job well done! Ang galing, lots of Pinoy seafarers' hands... the Karaoke scene was a good stress reliever. 🎉 Cheers, mariners- mates.
Nadinig ko yon kabayan "Don nyo na dalhin, don nyo dalhin" im so proud of you kabayan hindi basta basta yung transport rigs na napasukan! Pray and ingat po palagi kabayan!
"The greater the distance between tug and tow the deeper the wire sags this acts as a shock absorbed reducing the tension and thus protects the main towing wire and the chain anchors on the rig this is the only way for the connection to survive the continuous load" "In shallow water the steel cable would grind on the rocky seabed and break so when they near a coastline the crew has to pull the rig at the distance of around 400 meters minimum" Great important lesson learn, sir!
We,definitely owe you Free Documentaries, our especial thanks and gratitude for letting us have such wonderful/marvelous documentaries, which otherwise in no way possible; more so in such a big number on varied subjects and ways. Thanks again.
Depends on how much oil is down there really. If it's shitload then they will build a permanent structure. Otherwise they will build something like this one.
@@Conundrum425 It doesn't depend on the amount of oil but the depth of the sea at the point. Deploying a massive oil rig is so expensive that it does not matter that much if it's built to the seafloor or not. If there is enough oil to deploy a rig, there is enough oil to justify building a permanent structure. The problem however is that most of the oil is so deep down, that it does not make any sense to build it to the bottom. Free floating or cable-attached, or semi subs are basically without depth restrictions. Those that are attached to the floor are basically used in waters less than 300 meter deep, there are exceptions tho. And funny thing is, even the biggest fixed, norwegian built, oil rigs were actually floated to the scene and then ballast tanks were flooded to make the whole structure sit on the seabed.

am i the only one who thought that the drilling rigs didn't float? and were just like attached the the ocean floor?
There are many types of rigs, some are attached to floor, some are attached by cables, some are self proppeled, like this one.
Depends on how much oil is down there really. If it's shitload then they will build a permanent structure. Otherwise they will build something like this one.
Rigs are mobile, such as a semi-sub like here, jack up or drill ship. Platforms are permanent structures usually attached by a "jacket".
It is muck like balancing on as seasaw. Years ago a welder quit on one of the early semis when He discovered it was floating!
@@Conundrum425 It doesn't depend on the amount of oil but the depth of the sea at the point.
