These kids now days don’t have a Clue what it was to live!
I wish I was in my 20s in the 80s. I’m 29 now and my dad is 53, this is one of his fav songs. He told me it was the golden era, the best of all. Wish there was a time machine ! 😅😢

ReMarc Teesmom. Yes we did. 70s was good but I was a little kid 80s was right on time. To those that made the comment how they thought that group sang that song you not alone I may have thought that also

As a 70 yr old looking back the 80s decade produced some damn fine music.

One of the greatest fake bands ever -- Stoney Jackson, Robert Townsend, Mykelti Williamson and Grand L. Bush -- amazing!!

Anything Grand L. Bush does is awesome!
“We’re the Shirelles.”
Yes... Haven't thought of this since the 80s I had even stoney Jackson's name I remember this movie from ,83/84 maybe it was 85. Was my favorite at the time I knew UA-cam would have it. Thanks to whoever posted it
I turned 21 in the early 1980s. Graduated from college. Finished my army ROTC, and received my officers' commission. Got sent to my first training base as an army officer. Things looked so bright i needed shades. The possibilities were endless and a new horizon just opened up. Met the love of my life, but it wasnt meant to be. Had some very bad years, some very poor years.
But now I'm 62, retired as a prosecuting attorney, with every day trying to out do yesterday's laziness. The 1980s were good. I had fun. I shed tears. It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, in the words of Dickens. And this song took me back for 4 minutes.

This is the official video clip for the streets of fire from 1984.
The actor stoney jackson plays the role of a musical group but he is by no means the interpreter of the song it is Dan Hartman the author and composer of the title "I Can Dream About You".
Dan Hartman died on March 22, 1994.
Dan Hartman . wrote it & is singing it.
@@The1066BMJ Actually, I know there is another vocalist who sang the version in the movie. I also believe that is the version that is used in this music video. Dan Hartman recorded his version and also made a video for it. It's his version that became the radio hit.

One of the greatest love songs ever .....bring a tear to my eye when ever I hear it .
I remember this playing on the radio in the 80’s, my mom said she liked the song and it always stuck with me, it’s so 80’s. A great time for music in my opinion.
I think everyone has a song from their childhood that reminds them of their mum, I remember my mum in the kitchen singing along to songs on the radio, some of my earliest memories
This was my movie
MTV was the hottest channel and video music came alive. I'm grateful to be born in the 60s so I was there when real music was being made.
Me too. I'm from 1968

MTV was until it became “Let’s encourage teen pregnancy “
This reminds me of when we first got cable tv and my mom put me to private school. This video was always on when I was getting ready for school. It brings back nice childhood memories indeed.
No doubt the 80’s will be the era of fine music 👍👍
This gives me such a good feeling,. A great song and p, whether it’s lip synced or not, these guys give an outstanding performance
Gawd I miss the 80's! It was such a great time to be alive, and such great music!
Love Dan Hartman. Such a great vocalist. Rest in paradise Dan. 🎶 🕊
Except its not Dan Hartman singing this particular version. Winston Ford sang it here and Hartman released it on a single with Hartman's vocals which in a way kept Ford from getting a potentially big break, even though Hartman wrote the song.
@@loganmining4738 It was mainly for the show in the Streets of Fire movie I believe
Stoney Jackson kills this performance! Between this and Eddie and the cruisers, which is Michael Pare’ coincidentally, there isn’t any other music that is more credited to the fake band over the real band! Nostalgia at its finest!
The Monkees were a "fake" band that racked up several hits.
@@leniebabe44 the Monkees weren't fake. They were created. The 4 members sang all the vocals and on the later tracks played the instruments.
They knew how to do lip-syncing in the 80s. If you didn't know any better you'd swear this guy was actually singing the song. Same with Eddie and the Cruisers--the voice matched the character perfectly.

I think this has got to be one of my most favorite rock videos. The choreography was marvelous, and it's obvious they were having a great time making the video. So much better than Dan Hartman on his own video for the song.
No Dan Hartman, no song. This "rock video" was a scene from the movie. The lead singer in this scene was lip-synching the song dung by some guy from a local Radio Shack.
You obviously have no idea of how much rehearsing goes into making dance videos.
@adcolt54 Dan Harrman got owned on his own song then. These vocals are much better than the original version.
@@Bevo_Baker Totally. I mean, even though they're both Dan Hartman you're totally right--vocals are way better on this one.

FYI, this is not Dan's voice. This is the version for the movie. And he actually wrote it to be recorded by Hall and Oates. The film version has Winston Ford on vocals
Yes, I know. There was a whole big legal thing about this. Are you a member of Dan’s facebook fan page? Not too many people know about this.

Yes streets of fire all filmed in the day in an aircraft hanger obviously a big one all made to look like it was night time michael parre staring role dan hartman singing dream about you brill film love the track love the bands dancing
psst. This isn't Dan Hartman singing. Yes its his song and he wrote it. And Yes he did his own version. But this version of the song is sung by Winston Ford. The men on screen are the Sorels from the movie this song is from. If you go listen to the "official" Dan Hartman video, it sounds SLIGHTLY different. Very similar but there are subtle differences.
Streets of Fire has an outstanding soundtrack! This one is my favorite!
What memories this song brings to mind, I heard it today on Set/2/2020, on CBS FM NYC, and I went right ahead to look for it here on youtube, and believe it or not it was the first time ever I get to see and know who was the real singer if this song, which I could swear I thought it was an african american singer? But no I was wrong it was a white guy, who I learned, he passed away back in 1994!
But the memories it brings me of a little boy around 8 or 9 years old I was growing up in Brazil in my city of Rio de Janeiro, and this song would play non stop in many radios when it came out back in 1984!, I remember my Dad driving me and my siblings to the beaches of Rio and this song playing on the radio, what good times it was back then!
