Thank you for the information. Also thank you for watching the video. I agree with you. Like the video said I am running a Iphone 6s. I am sure a newer phone is soon to come.
@@GReviewz yeah, I have the older Asus RT-AC1900P (faster version of the 68U) and I get 350Mb down. I have Gigabit internet. I am not impressed with the expensive router as most of your in home devices won't be 4x4, most aren't even 3x3. So all that extra speed is overkill unless you have a PC with just the right wifi nic to use the speeds.
Brandon Drangel thank you for watching. Yeah I agree with you on the fact that most devices these days won’t even be able to utilize the 1 gig internet you pay for. You saw my speeds with 200 meg internet. But this router does do a great job of letting 10 running devices work at the same time.
@@GReviewz the Samsung Galaxy S10 was announced yesterday and is one of the first phones I have seen with 4x4 AX WiFi support so people will finally be able to get better speeds from their expensive devices. If I were most people would get the ac68u (maybe 3 or more if they have a huge home in AiMesh) and they will be better off for now. Maybe in a year this will be a different story though. Great video though.
Well done, a down to earth review. Definitely an upgrade!! There is more that can be squeezed from the ASUS 5300 so you might experience even larger improvements if you fine tune. Straight out of the box is a massive update anyway. Again, well done, it really shows what users can get. It would be great to see what would be the difference between the 5300 and the 88 in the same house and conditions. Many are trying to understand if it is worth shelling extra money for virtually no difference in real life conditions.
Sergio McG thank you for watching and for the complements. The thing is a beast and keeps up with about 10+ devices I have connected to it. If asus or anyone wanted to send me the asus ac 88u I would be happy to do a comparison video. I was not a big fan of some reviews on this router because all they showed was specs etc. I wanted to see results. So I put them in my videos!
Great review, you are the only review I've found so far that is using a speed test to compare "paid for" hard wired speeds to wireless. I'm paying for 30Mbps and usually get that or above thru an ethernet cable. And 9 to 15 Mbps wireless with my providers modem/router. I hope to find a replacement for less cost than the one you feature. Other router reviewers basically read the stats from the box.
Trialmx thank you for watching. I am glad you enjoyed it. Before I purchased this router I watched multiple videos and I agree that a lot of reviewers do just read specs. I wanted to see actual speeds. I will say the reason I purchased this router was due to its signal strength and range. My house has two stories and I was afraid other routers would not give me the speed I wanted through the walls and ceiling. If you like our channel please subscribe.
they are charging me for 300mbps down, 12mbps up., and i only get 150mbps down, and 12.5up. i have a 450mbps wireless ac connection in my laptop and my cable modem is 1gbps. my router is gbps connectors and ac1300 wireless.
Good information there, nicely done man. I am going to be ordering this now. The thing uses a 65W power brick! That's a lot of power being transmitted through the antennae no wonder it can punch through walls and offer superior signal strength. Hey you happened to notice how warm it gets when a lot of devices are connected and pretty loaded?
Thanks for watching! This router is really great. Yes another reason to have such a great range is the amount of power it does take. The unit barely ever gets warm at all. The only time I’d say it get slightly warm is when I’m uploading 4K videos or gaming on my pc. But like I said it’s just warm never hot. Just a heads up asus has made newer models since this one. Also if you have a large area to cover there are a lot of those multi router mesh systems that you may want to look at also..
Mine just came today... the range is insane... previously i could barely watch a video in the livingroom or kitchen, from my phone, which were in that order next to my room where we have the only ethernet outlet and so im forced to keep my router there... and now with this new monster i can watch a video or browse or do anything on my phone anywhere in my home even on the other side of the house... and even everywhere in my garden... its frikin awesome... now i just have to upgrade my internet and tv plan to get higher speeds and thats it
So does this rog wireless improves your internet speed only? Or can improve the signal? Because I’m live in 2 storeys and when im in the second floor i have a poor connection and wifi signal :/
I’ll be honest if you had watched the whole review I answered all your questions... however I have a two story house as well this router helped get stronger signal to all parts of my house...it did also help with buffering on many of our WiFi devices. For example phones, tablets, tv, Xbox etc..

I purchased the asus GT ROG a/c5300 router because I wanted the fastest wifi I could get . I pay for 300mbps/20mbps from my ISP. First off, the router worked beautifully! DL speed was getting 245. I was cool with that. Then, I noticed the prompt for a firmware update. After I updated the firmware , the router took a complete dump! I could not get any speed greater than 12mbps DL. I was pissed! I took it back to Frys and got my $400 back. I then purchased the lesser RT5300 as featured in this video. I also paired it with the Asus PCE AC88 network card. OMG< my sh$t is fast! I had a party at my house and 30 connections to the 2.4ghz band. I tested the speed at speedtest.net. My DL on my desktop was consistently 84 to 91mbps DL, and 20 to 23 up. However, on both 5ghz bands, my DL speeds were consistently 295 to 351mbps DL! 24mbps upload. So then, I tried to push it. I opened 25 youtube videos simultaneously, in addition to the 30 guest connections, my son was also online gaming via ps4. I couldn't believe that I was still getting 350mbps on both 5ghz bands. Man, I love this freakin router! Btw..., I'm being prompted to update my firmware but f#ck that sh!t!
The test you are using is in Mega Bits. You said you pay for 200 Mega Bytes down, unless I misheard. So you are comparing an Apple to a Bushel of Apples.
Thanks for watching. Yes after I made all the footage I realized after that I misspoke and used the wrong terminology. It’s Mbps. Megabits per second. However everyone should know by now what I’d be referring to when talking about internet speed. A lot of people use the terms Interchangeably anyway.
So does the tri band connect to the internet wirelessly and then you can use the tri band with Ethernet. I don’t wanna buy this thing then return it bc it doesn’t work for me
I don’t want to steer you in the wrong direction. The thing works great for me. It puts out a single 2.4ghz band and two 5ghz bands..it doesn’t matter how many Ethernet cables you have plugged in. What are trying to setup?
AN4RCHY SIN gotcha. On the back of this router there are 1 input Ethernet and 2 output Ethernet ports.. just run a Ethernet cable from output on router to input on back of computer... on the Xbox if it’s close to router I’d say within 30 yards of router on the same floor go for the 5ghz wireless connection if farther away I’d say use the 2 ghz wireless connection.
Are you currently running via Ethernet cable direct into modem or are you on wifi. Alot goes into getting your internet to run smoothly. If you watch my video I pay for 200MBPS and with my old router I wasn't getting anywhere near close to it. With this asus router the internet speed is were it should be. I even gain some speed over what i pay for. If you have terrible internet to start with this probably wont help ie. if you have like 1MBPS internet don't expect this router to magically make your games run well.
Yes sir. I’m going to say the 12 you pay for is adequate for web browsing. Any game you play online I’d say the VERY minimum you want is 20mbps. If you want to be competitive in any online game I’d say 50mbps. Believe it or not online games do use download AND upload so that .6-.8 you have wont cut the mustard. This router is great but it won’t work miracles. I’d bump your internet speed up and get a better router. If you do t use WiFi then just bump up your internet speed.
Thanks for watching. From my testing they are exactly the same. It’s just two separate channels. 2.4 is for your long range items and 5 g is for your close items. My router is upstairs so I hook all my upstairs things to 5 and my downstairs to 2.4.
Thanks for watching. I mean as long as your phone has the ability to connect to WiFi it will work. Normally ping has more to do with the internet rather than the router however this router sped everything up for me!
Thanks for watching. There really is no trick to it. The unit should have come with a step by step booklet on how to set it up. Do you have a modem from you internet provider?
Kgbxs Somin thank you for watching. I do not know if you have to have a modem to operate the asus however I know I needed one from my cable provider to get internet.
Sample Fan thank you for watching. I know I wish I had that kind of money to afford gig + internet speed. Also where I live it is unavailable. The speed I pay for and receive is more than enough now that I have the asus.
@ Sample Fan, 2000mbps M8 in which universe did you get that speed? LOL. Asus used to be one of my favorite Router, the max seen in an ASUS router is not even 300 ~ 320 Mbps. The 5GHZ WiFi sucks on these Asus Routers so you have my stomach cramping and almost wet myself reading the 2000mbps comment. I have tested ASUS Routers, still have one piece of junk in a corner, with 1Gbps each way, Fiber and the max LAN throughput on my current router is 940 / 930 Mbps. WiFi units, my desktop if connected WiFi connects with 1.3Gbps to my router, just did a quick speedtest is 425Mbps / 560Mbps going thru through a wall, ASUS doesn't even come close to these speed. So please show me a test result of this 2000mbps LOL thanks for the laugh and Happy New Year m8 :)
Thank you for watching and for your input. I cant speak to the max speed of this router as you can see my internet speed is 200MBPS. However when I was doing research on the router I was going to get I did see reviews on this asus router hooked up to 1 gig internet and this router was showing 800+ MBPS on a 5GHZ band. BUT nothing close to 2000MBPS lol
Thank you for watching. Yes the router is still working for me. It has made a huge difference in the speed of all the devices in my household. The app I was using is called speedtest.net. If you are using apple devices in the appstore just type in speedtest.
Fede In Da House thank you for watching. If you like our content please subscribe. We have time Warner/spectrum internet. We pay for 200mbps internet download and 20mbps upload. This router is way faster than our last one.
Fede In Da House no problem sir! I hope my review helps your decision making on a router! I know you won’t be disappointed if you get this asus, unless you have slow internet to start with.
Thanks for watching. Because they are such “high speed” modems. Lol I really couldn’t tell you. I think because they want something strong and durable to were people won’t step on them and break them.
It looks like you were testing the 2.4ghz band from the Belkin and the 5ghz band from the Asus..😮with that being said the 5ghz will be faster but no matter what the ASUS is the far SUPERIOR ROUTER...and u should never have your router on the floor or by any other electronic devices..
Thank you for watching the video. I can't believe I over looked that. If you could sometime soon watch the video again and tell me if you see it anywhere else I attempted to use the blur tool on youtube. If you like our videos please subscribe to our channel.
I can tell you were on the 2.4ghz on your first run with your cellphone because your wifi signal had full bars all the time...when you used the new router you were on 5ghz and you dropped a bar when downstairs 😁
That could be a reason. I just ran a speed test. The 5ghz radio on the older until never really reached downstairs. The phone and ipad to switch between 2.4 and 5 by themselves.
Jerry Hendrickson thank you for watching. Yeah I was not directly comparing the two units to say the Belkin had a chance I was simply showing how much better the asus was on the same internet speed.
@@GReviewz This router costs more than any other router. I expect something more than just *GAMING* look. I have my TV downstairs and my cheap router easily connects with it on 2.4GHz, the RT-AC 5300 is not even discoverable there. It might be not a big deal for you if you live in small house. But for me, where I have my router upstairs I wouldn't recommend this for anyone.
If you had watched my review video it shows that I was looking for an awesome router because I do live in a two story house and I already tried many router and this one was the best. Sounds like you have a defective unit.

I even gain some speed over what i pay for. If you have terrible internet to start with this probably wont help ie. if you have like 1MBPS internet don't expect this router to magically make your games run well.
well i run ethernet and i pay for 12 down and 0.8 up and im getting like 8 down and 0.6 on a good day
If you do t use WiFi then just bump up your internet speed.
ok thx man
So which one is better 5g 1 or 5g 2
Thanks for watching. From my testing they are exactly the same. It’s just two separate channels. 2.4 is for your long range items and 5 g is for your close items. My router is upstairs so I hook all my upstairs things to 5 and my downstairs to 2.4.
is this a modem to
No this is simply a router. I have the modem from spectrum hooked to this unit.
signal strength (dBm) is more important when considering coverage. Try using Dr. Wifi. The asus should be giving you much better signal strength.
Raymond Yap thank you for watching. I have never heard of dr WiFi but I tried it and will continue to use it.
Of course it's faster than a bullet. Doesn't wifi travel in almost lightspeed?
Junho Son yeah it is fast. It put my old belkin to shame.
Is it better than the XR7000 Netgear
Hell that thing is fast.
Does router work on phone I’m playing Fortnite mobile and my ping so high
Thanks for watching. I mean as long as your phone has the ability to connect to WiFi it will work. Normally ping has more to do with the internet rather than the router however this router sped everything up for me!
GReviewz ok thanks
This 2020 this version it's good?
I do believe that Asia has a new version of this out now however this one is still really good!
Sorry i am late but how high Bills do you pay for this?
KeepThatL - Minecraft & More! My total bill for internet and tv is $115
Ok it's not that bad then
I'm torn between this asus and the linksys EA 9500
they are both good brands. I know i am very happy with the asus.
Ive had a linksys router in the past and I agree the asus is better. thank you for watching.
Who is your provider.. Does anyone know???
Thanks for watching. Spectrum/time warner.
I can't figure how to set this thing up GReviewz
Thanks for watching. There really is no trick to it. The unit should have come with a step by step booklet on how to set it up. Do you have a modem from you internet provider?
SOLD!
ME!
Thanks for watching. Please consider subscribing to the channel. I am still using this router and wont get rid of it for awhile.
Does anyone know if this router needs a separate modem to operate?
Kgbxs Somin thank you for watching. I do not know if you have to have a modem to operate the asus however I know I needed one from my cable provider to get internet.
GReviewz actually you need a modem for a router to work.
The Asus RT-AC5300 isn’t hitting its top speed because you paid for the 200 mbps/s while it can easy achieve 2000mbps
Sample Fan thank you for watching. I know I wish I had that kind of money to afford gig + internet speed. Also where I live it is unavailable. The speed I pay for and receive is more than enough now that I have the asus.
You most likely won't get 2 Gbe either because you need router and wifi device able to pick up all the right signal
Thanks for the comment. I live in NC and I believe the fastest anywhere in the state is 1gig.
BUT nothing close to 2000MBPS lol
do you use this exclusively?
Yes sir I do use this router exclusively. I live in a 2 story house and have about ten devices hooked up to the router. Thank you for watching.
GReviewz is the router still working for you? Also what was the app you were using to test speed?
Thank you for watching. Yes the router is still working for me. It has made a huge difference in the speed of all the devices in my household. The app I was using is called speedtest.net. If you are using apple devices in the appstore just type in speedtest.
GReviewz. no
No...what?
you have 100 mb internet or less?
Fede In Da House thank you for watching. If you like our content please subscribe. We have time Warner/spectrum internet. We pay for 200mbps internet download and 20mbps upload. This router is way faster than our last one.
GReviewz thank u bro :) i am from argentina
Fede In Da House no problem sir! I hope my review helps your decision making on a router! I know you won’t be disappointed if you get this asus, unless you have slow internet to start with.
Why does spectrum have such huge modems tho
Thanks for watching. Because they are such “high speed” modems. Lol I really couldn’t tell you. I think because they want something strong and durable to were people won’t step on them and break them.
It looks like you were testing the 2.4ghz band from the Belkin and the 5ghz band from the Asus..😮with that being said the 5ghz will be faster but no matter what the ASUS is the far SUPERIOR ROUTER...and u should never have your router on the floor or by any other electronic devices..
Which ones better 5g 1 or 5g2
frqgcc
According to Asus the 5g-2 is for heavy video/multimedia streaming..so 5g-2 is better for needing more bandwith speed..
Mark H wat about gaming
frqgcc
Yes that applies for gaming too..
Mark H and how do I connect lan cable to 5g 2
might wanna blur out ur ip
Thank you for watching the video. I can't believe I over looked that. If you could sometime soon watch the video again and tell me if you see it anywhere else I attempted to use the blur tool on youtube. If you like our videos please subscribe to our channel.
ok sorry for the late reply but no problem
I can tell you were on the 2.4ghz on your first run with your cellphone because your wifi signal had full bars all the time...when you used the new router you were on 5ghz and you dropped a bar when downstairs 😁
That could be a reason. I just ran a speed test. The 5ghz radio on the older until never really reached downstairs. The phone and ipad to switch between 2.4 and 5 by themselves.
You will need 1600 Mbps to achieve 200 MB/s, nice review though
Thank you for watching. Yes i know i made a mistake in how i said MBPS. Thank you I hope the review helped with your purchase decisions.
if you put antennas in directions it will give you better connection m8 :)
Chris Hansen thanks for the tip. Also thank you for watching.
Comparing a Toyota Prius to a Dodge Challenger Hellkat....this comparison is pointless
Jerry Hendrickson thank you for watching. Yeah I was not directly comparing the two units to say the Belkin had a chance I was simply showing how much better the asus was on the same internet speed.
It is megabit not megabyte.
Thank you for watching... yes you are not the first person to make this comment. It was my mess up.
Do you need the spectrum app 🤦♂️😅 if my name ever comes up coty brock
Thanks for watching. you do not need the spectrum app.
megabits. you keep saying megabyte.
Marty Lardy sorry to be the bearer of bad news but there have been about 20 comments stating that exact same thing. Thanks for watching though.
This router has terrible wifi range. My mobile network provider gave me cheap starter router which has much much better wifi range.
Possibly but I can get perfect WiFi 100 yards or more away from my house. Do you need more range than that?
@@GReviewz This router costs more than any other router. I expect something more than just *GAMING* look. I have my TV downstairs and my cheap router easily connects with it on 2.4GHz, the RT-AC 5300 is not even discoverable there. It might be not a big deal for you if you live in small house. But for me, where I have my router upstairs I wouldn't recommend this for anyone.
If you had watched my review video it shows that I was looking for an awesome router because I do live in a two story house and I already tried many router and this one was the best. Sounds like you have a defective unit.
I can’t even get 2 gigabits and you get 13 gigabits down stairs
Thanks for watching. Are you talking about mbps?
Yes
Wow what internet service provided do you have?
AT&T but I don’t have fiber
MegaBITS not bytes.
Anton A thanks for watching.sorry for my slip up. Someone has already pointed out the bites vs bytes.
That's nice.
Now the date is 2019
You must be using the routers VPN by now
Share your speed test with VPN connected
Shock us with the speed you get with VPN connected
Thanks for watching. If you mean a virtual private network I have not messed with anything router related. Normally If I start seeing slow internet etc I start messing with the router and or settings. This router hasn’t given me any problems so I havnt messed with it. Does the vpn make the mbps faster or slower? If you explain how to set it up I’ll try and test it for you.
350 bucks?! yeah, thats not happening
Thanks for watching. $284 right now on amazon.

I'll call you later lol
I only get 5mbps 😭
Eric eGamer wow I’m sorry. In the area I live the slowest they offer is 50mbps. Were ru from?
@@GReviewz Sacramento CA
GReviewz i think you’re talking about megabits and he’s talking about megabytes. Which in this case 50 mbps=5 Mbps
@@aceshadowins1310 yes sir. I have been called out on the bytes vs bits many times. internet is rated in megabits per second (Mbps)
my right now is 160 mbps
160 is good.
i mean 160 kbsp
Do you have dialup?
