Points 1-3 are good. I would caution against the others. Being frugal and spendy on different things is like a car being in 1st and 5th gear at the same time. As far as bringing a competitive job offer to your boss, be fully prepared to switch companies. Let's say your current boss says no raise, then you leave. Let's say your current boss counteroffers, then you look weak if you accept it. And let's say your current boss matches the competitive offer... doesn't that mean you were being underpaid this whole time? How much longer will you work at a company that doesn't fully appreciate your employment?

Agree with your comments on bringing up job offer from another company to ask for a raise - it would only put yourself and your boss (and potentially other colleagues too, if they are aware of it) in an awkward position. If you are so unhappy with the pay at your current job that you have to seek opportunity somewhere else, just grab that opportunity if/when it presents itself and leave (in a respectful way, of course - you don't want to burn the bridge).

It sounds like a basic book on finance, with advice like: be frugal, spend less, spend wildly on things that matter to you, and negotiate a raise with a cheap, sleazy tactic, “I have an offer from another company,” even if it’s just an intro message from a headhunter on LinkedIn. Instead, focusing on upgrading your skills and learning how to market them. I definitely won’t buy or read this book. There are way better books on escaping the rat race.

I can't listen to the way the narrator pronounces his lines... undulating between louder and barely audible words... incomprehensible and annoying

So it's just a basic common sense book. It doesn't really teach you to be rich.

Common sense isn't common behavior nowadays.

I am frugal at (restaurants, partying, vehicles, shoes) so I can freely spend on (mobiles, family, see visible fat bank balance to boost morale)

Why is it that being or feeling rich always is connected to money or to expenses? Most often, those with less money in cultures where money doesn’t matter as much as in our Western World are much happier than most of us will be. Yet, isn’t this the true meaning of being rich? I may have missed the point of this book/video, and still be rich…

Good point (as an addition not simply a replacement). When I back-packed across Asia with my partner in 2019 [at age 56] I saw and experienced and observed this exactly your point. Makes you put many things in perspective which sadly seems to be lacking in resent years. Best to all wherever you are in life. 😊

If you replace the "expenses" bought with "doing things that make you happy" it's the same concept. Alot of the things we buy are just amplifying the things we value deep down inside ourselves anyways.
